I had so much fun here! Our tour guide was fantastic, super knowledgeable and gave a really great tour of the whole boat and its history. The volunteer guides were both very sweet and seemed genuinely passionate about their job.
One thing to know is that (I'm pretty sure) you have to book a tour on the website, or else you can't gain entrance to the boat. Hence some of the negative reviews where people just showed up to the gate and couldn't enter.
I would say this experience is well worth it, especially if you're a history buff or like boats.

Had an amazing time at this museum that doesn’t get too much attention. Lots of amazing little pieces of history and tons of models and artifacts that makes for a great way to spend an hour or two. The hourly tours that take you through every aspect of the working steam powered boat. Prices are reasonable and not too expensive, views on and off the boat are fantastic. Not too crowded and it’s a perfect way to enjoy a little piece of the past. Staff is super friendly and location is perfectly situated near downtown.

Nice looking boat, but I should have read the reviews first. I visited on Saturday afternoon, in the middle of their opening hours. The Oregon Historical Society museum was great! It's a fun and educational experience about Oregon's history and many different events. There are tons of exhibits and lots of artwork. The museum staff are helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. The museum has four levels, with elevators and stairs. Would recommend checking it out. It's a great place to hang out with your family or visit by yourself.

We had a wonderful experience here!
I want to say that the men and women who work behind the scenes on the exhibits go above and beyond and do an incredible job searching out and sifting through items and records to showcase history in a clear, honest, and interesting way. The new Yasui exhibit involves the family I married into and we were so honored and touched by the care taken in bringing our family history out so clearly and honestly.
They were extremely gracious to the family members and we got a sneak peek of the exhibit.
As for the rest of the place, we are going to have to go back to further explore all the treasures. They really showcase Oregon history and I believe they work hard to tell all the stories from many cultures living in our state.
They said there is free admittance for Multnomah county residents!
The only downside is they are located in downtown Portland and you will need to pay for parking and you may need to walk away. I believe there is a parking structure across the street and that might be a good option for some.
It should be easy access for all, they have an elevator that my husband made use of because it is a large multi level place.
If you don't know anything about the Japanese American internment camps during WW2, I highly encourage you to check out the Yasui exhibit telling local Japanese American history and highlighting a piece of often overlooked American history. This exhibit will be open for about a year. It is very personal and they got the stories straight from the horses mouth, so to speak.

I am so glad I came! I learned a lot about the history of the city and of the state. I was unaware of a lot of the history, and what I did learn was mainly whitewashed. Not to say this was completely comprehensive, but this went into more depth than I realized. It should not have been any surprise that the natives were not treated well at all. I could seriously have spent way more time here than what I did. Reasonable admission prices, there is a lot of information presented here. I highly recommend this museum to anyone wanting to learn more about the state of Oregon.

This museum has something for everyone and would be great for groups, especially for children. There's a great mix of science, industry, nature, art, culture, and hands-on exhibits as well as a fountain courtyard.
Most of the exhibits are wheelchair accessible with the exception of the underground animals display and the tractor that you can sit in.
We spent about 2 hours here but if you want to read everything and view all of the videos you might need to double that.
I loved the Following Fire photography exhibit, I found it very moving and ecologically fascinating. Glad I got to see it before it goes away in March.

My teenager had an open house event for his school hosted at the World Forestry Center and it was an amazing experience!
The aesthetics are incredible and the information is presented in a fully interactive manner which makes it even more interesting. We saw children and adults of all ages enjoying the exhibits throughout. There’s also a large arboretum with walking paths that is adjacent and is breathtaking in the fall and spring, especially!
The gift shop is also super fun-I couldn’t go home without a super realistic looking wood slice pillow!

LOVED our time at the World Forestry Center! Had two 5 year-olds with us and they had a ball with the interactive exhibits and looking for fluffy the rainbow trout. Used our Pogo Pass to get in and it was seamless. Come check out this gem of a museum and bring the kiddos.

As a local, this place has been on my list for years. I found myself in the area this Friday afternoon and finally made a visit. Parking can be very tricky in this neighborhood, especially on a nice day, but I lucked out on a nearby dead end street (24th Place off Vaughn).
This is such a cool gem in the NW area! It very much has that roadside attraction/oddities vibe. Great photo ops if you’re with friends! Parts of it almost made me think of a low budget Meow Wolf as it’s somewhat interactive. There is a LOT to see. You could go through it all twice and notice new things the second time.
I also really enjoyed the gift shop, which was just as quirky with a lot to see as well! I ended up getting a 3D bat air freshener for my car, but they had a TON of cool sunglasses, stickers, and enamel pins.

All the staff were really friendly and engaging, and the atmosphere in the main center was wonderful and family oriented. The same can be said for their train tour as well. This is one of my favorite places to visit in Portland. My group had an amazing time talking to Steven, and you can tell he is passionate about his craft. My friends, partner, and I were in town for a wedding and didn't realize our place would be right around the corner from this absolute gem but once we found out, we knew we had to go! John was absolutely exquisite as he guided us through such incredible tales with the drama of an entire theatre troupe! However my main reason for our visit was to see the 45 minute Nutcracker show. I don’t want to sound rude but for 15.00 bucks per person I feel robbed. There was a lot of stuffed creatures attached to sticks bouncing around to a prerecorded sound and voice track. My kids have put on home puppet shows and I had a hard time telling the difference between the show I saw at Portland Puppet Museum and my kids home show. If you are looking for a unique experience in Portland, you should definitely visit this museum! It was in a middle of a residential area, as it was inside a residential house structure. From the moment you step inside, you are surrounded by interesting items that catches your attention.
The first floor is more like a workshop with few things you can purchase, like really cool looking postcards. The second floor is where you will gasp over and over again. Every inch of the space was filled with oddities and curiosities. It was honestly so memorable and fun in so many ways.

The museum is all in a small car garage but still packs so much to see. It’s open the 2nd Sunday of every month.
Jim does a great job of sucking you into this world and mystery that envelopes it. I’m glad that so much is left for you to interpret and visualize on your own. There’s lots of labels for things that are worth the read that serve as a guide in this wondrous world.
We spent about 30 minutes and could have easily been there longer which says a lot about the usage of small space. Cool selection of gift shop items and no pressure to buy anything ! The artist/curator responded back to my email quickly and I was able to sneak in a visit on my short trip and so glad I did. This was my first visit to OMSI, and I can see why so many people love it. The hands-on exhibits and interactive science areas are really well done — perfect for learning while having fun. It’s a great place to explore for a few hours and sparks curiosity in every age group.

Went to OMSI with a friend and had such a great time! The Monsters of the Abyss: Aquatic Predators Past + Present exhibit was fascinating — we even met a Caiman lizard named Crunch, who’s related to the prehistoric Megalania! The exhibit was full of interesting creatures and incredible displays. We also went to the planetarium, toured the USS Blueback submarine, and spent time in the engineering labs, which were so much fun. Everything was super engaging and well put together. Mainly only downstairs with 2 rooms: the monsters exhibit and the large activities room. I visited for about an hour.
The Monsters of the Abyss exhibit is very interesting and informative. The individual stations are very well made with signage in both English and Spanish.
There was a paper passport to stamp at 6 stations.
I wasn't ready to see a planetarium show so I visited the activities room. All geared towards younger children, perhaps younger grade school. It was quite busy and full of kids and parents.
There's a water fountain and bottle refill station in the activities room and restrooms.
I did enjoy watching the metal balls on the wire tracks. Quite similar to the one in SJC Terminal A and the San Jose Tech Museum.

First off, I LOVE museums and spend a lot of time exploring them so I feel like I've got a pretty good "museum meter," if there was such a measurement tool. Sadly, our experience was underwhelming and, more accurately, a serious bummer.

This museum got it right in focusing on other kinds of stories of people traveling to the U.S. for refuge and safety. I really appreciated the variety.
Here's what puzzled and disappointed me:
-We chose to visit the museum ON Holocaust Remembrance Day (which I believe is observed internationally... it's a big deal!!!). Given October's terrorist attack in Israel, I figured there might be some kind of special presentation, but there wasn't anything special happening at all. Nothing; not even a sign acknowledging the day.
- I wanted to plan our visit carefully because we had limited time (2 hours, which is too short for a museum nerd like me). The website was not helpful. I had hoped for a list of exhibits, a map of the space, etc... Nothing.
- We stepped up to the counter to pay for entrance and were greeted with a vibe-killer. :( The man taking payments was not at all friendly or welcoming; he barely made eye contact, if at all. Forget a smile! Too much work? I was excited to be there - this guy squashed my enthusiasm.
- If that wasn't bad enough, I asked if there was a map of the museum or a some kind of guide to the exhibits. Nothing. So, I asked if maybe there was a QR code to link to a digital map (many places are doing away with paper maps/brochures, understandably). I realize that's not HIS fault. That responsibility is on the museum. But the look I got from him left me feeling dumb for asking for guidance.

There's something extremely nostalgic about visiting a video store in 2025. It honestly just takes me back to the good old days when my family would go and we'd all debate on what movie we get or sometimes my parents would let all of us get a movie.
The concession stand with popcorn, beer, snacks and other things. It's just awesome! It's all priced affordably it really makes the experience complete. The people working behind the counter are always knowledgeable, friendly, and are willing to help find a movie that you're looking for. About thirty years ago I visited the museum to glean resources about my ancestors, John Philip and Julia Olsen who owned a farm in Orenco from about 1894 to 1920s and other family in Sherwood. This place was absolutely beautiful. I saw a tree i definitely would love to have on my forever home property - The Japanese Hornbeam. The Vietnam Living Memorial is such a great idea. I love the idea of a memorial that gives back to the Earth. Plus it doesn't just have names of their veterans, but info on what else was happening in their towns during that time. The rose gardens were absolutely amazing. The wide variety of roses was breathtaking. It was nice to see so many still in bloom. This was my first time going to Hoyt Arboretum but it definitely won't be my last. Such a beautiful place to reconnect with nature. I went early in the morning on a weekday and I couldn't have picked a better time. It was so peaceful and had many of the trails to myself. Loved this experience! I had very little knowledge of the Chinese history in Oregon (and the larger Pacific NW region) so this is very educational and informative. Really loved the Bue Kee exhibit as well. $8 entry fee, self-guided and a general overview from the attendant (who was really sweet and gave me food recommendations!). Attempted to visit during hours of operation, was closed. Waited a bit to see if anyone would walk by, never saw anyone so I was not able to go inside. I visited another museum and on my way back check in and found the receptionist available, she was very nice and informative. I went on a free museum day hosted by the Smithsonian, but noticed it is only $3/ person to enter, so not bad for museum pricing. I would definitely go back to catch what I missed on the second floor. They had a glassblowing and architectural glass exhibit on and a door knob room which was interesting. The grounds are fairly extensive, and neatly manicured. There are so many variety of rhododendron and azalea, along with other native flora and fauna. There are beautiful contrasts in the colors of the blooms and foliage alike.

Leach Botanical Garden is one of my all-time favorite wedding venues in the Portland metro area. As a photographer, there are SO many beautiful nooks and crannies here, and since they've added the tree walk, the possibilities for gorgeous backdrops are even more incredible. I've documented a good number of weddings here, and it never gets old. And because the gardens are so diverse both in the flora that're present, and also in how the property changes throughout the seasons, I feel like I've never documented two weddings that looked exactly alike. Also, the space is such that you could have a larger sized wedding or a more intimate micro wedding, and both would feel comfortable and suited to the location. It's really quite a unique and marvelous location for a wedding celebration.

I lived in Milwaukie for a decade and never knew about this place! Today was oddly cool and overcast for summer, so I decided to take advantage and make the trip out here from Vancouver.

Came here with a friend to see the "System as Object" show and it was a blast. They managed to pack a lot of cool art to see inside this building and I really appreciated them checking vaccine cards and masks. The merchandise and prints for sale were all well made and the show we came for was captivating and fun. They are only open every Wednesday and the second Saturday of each month. In September 2024, that fell on the same day as the Belmont Street fair. This museum was quite amazing. I did not get a chance to really talk to any of the people working. There was just so much to look at.
