It was dry and under cooked.   The greens with garlic was almost the highlight.  Whereas the lotus root was drowned in a garlic chilli sauce, not a bad idea but the garlic overpowered the chili and it kinda resemble a hot mess.  The cumin lamb featured more bell pepper than lamb and tasted almost the same as the Wowo Tou besides the hint of cumin.  Bummer as there aren't tons of Chinese restaurants in the Castro to start with.   Oh well let's just hope that Mama Jis finds her way back from her stroll.

The wasabi freshly grated. The saba (mackerel) was fresh but remarkably plain, with no vinegaring, which is a flavor I normally associate with saba. The hamachi was similar. Then came out the duck salad, which came with a heap of mizuna and thinly sliced stone fruit. The duck had a nice smokiness to it. Decent but simple dish. The gyoza was served with a crunchy layer on top of the dumplings. They were a bit plain and the wrappers lacked thin delicacy of a similar but better version at Ramen Nagi. I absolutely love this gem of a dim sum dumpling place but not for those items (surprisingly!). I come here for the pea shoots, green beans, and the eggplant dish. But like I mentioned earlier, my fake-a-tarian self makes exceptions for the shrimp toast and truffle buns because they are just that good! I’m glad I don’t live near here or I may end up reverting to eating meat again. The two things I really wouldn’t order here again—the fried rice and noodle dishes. I’ve pretty much tried them all and can live without. Plus with how expensive food is these days, you have to be scrupulous with your choices. Service is great! Black tea is great! I’ve yet to try the desserts but will get to it someday once I stop ordering too many entrees!
