The Moorish Room in the Greysolon was the most perfect venue for our vintage glam wedding. You could get away with minimal decorating because the space itself is so beautiful, and they even have a decor package that will take care of everything!
The staff made every single part of our day such a terrific experience! We worked primarily with Korah on all the nitty gritty details beforehand, she was amazing. The day of leads took great care of us to make sure everything went off without a hitch.
The food was delicious! We had champagne chicken and sirloin steak and heard nothing but great reviews from our guests. The late night pretzel bite station was also a huge hit!

The service you get at Greysolon is not just a venue, it is a team of people who are there for you and more than willing to help with each step along the way. They are eager to accommodate or adjust as needed (including multiple changes, just to end up back at the original plan). These are your people! We played 18 holes on a Friday afternoon in the fall. Prior to starting the round, we received a brief education from the course superintendent about the style of the course's creator, Mr. Donald Ross. Optical illusions abound on the course: a few infinity greens with some holes playing longer than they appear while others played shorter. PERPLEXED, I believe is the correct term for my first visit to Northland Country Club. Trust your feet and never your eyes on the greens was the advice that held the most weight by an employee. These greens are the most challenging in Minnesota, but are in perfect shape so if you guess right a putt could see the bottom of the cup.

Since the ceremony and the reception were held inside, I had concerns about how the room flip would go. Would it be smooth or a hassle for our guests? The grounds and mansion are beautiful! We’ve done several mansion tours around the country and this was the largest, best preserved site we’ve seen. Unfortunately it was 90+ degrees the day we visited and that kept us from fully enjoying it, it is very warm inside the mansion on a hot day, but worth the walk through. I recommend buying tickets ahead of time as entry is timed, we weren’t sure what time we’d be there so we bought tickets when we arrived and waited about an hour. We did the self guided full tour, $64 for two people - again, we felt it was worth it. It’s set up with ropes and signs so it’s always obvious where you should be going next and staff is scattered throughout. We walked through more quickly than we normally would due to the heat, it took us about 45 mins but I could see it taking longer if you stop to read everything. Highly recommend checking it out.

This was a nice in door tour of the mansion. You'll be walking around the rooms and reading family history. There's also a sea shell scavenger hunt which made it fun. There's not a lot of places during the tour to take a break and have a seat but otherwise there's some out door patio furniture once you get outside where you can relax and enjoy the view of the beautiful lake. We had a group of 7. They weren’t taking reservations, but when we arrived around 745 on a Thursday, they were able to find space for us. We had to wait a few minutes for a large table to be available. They were very nice about it and checked in with us repeatedly. We were happy to wait.

My husband and I just did the Grand Sightseeing Tour on the Vista Star. We absolutely loved it! It was so very informative. Bill did a fantastic job narrating and dropping in some humor as well as offering up so many facts about permanent points of interest as well as ships currently in the harbor. Nice way to see the city! It was smoggy from the wildfires so we didn’t have the clearest views. We purchased tickets ahead of time which I would recommend, though tickets can be purchased right across the street. Departure and arrival times were spot on. I booked the Highland room for my intimate (19 people) wedding dinner. I was pleasantly surprised to arrive for setup at 10:00 am to see that they had generously upgraded me to part of the Skyline room which has nice natural light and a better overall space.
Staff was amazing about communication before the event, and everything was ready when we showed up…. The playlist I had downloaded to my iPad was playing outside upon my arrival.
The hors d’oeuvres we selected (and are still eating several days after) were a hit with all the guests, bride and groom included. We got the turkey cranberry pinwheel wraps, charcuterie skewers, and house made Swedish meatballs (my dad was in love with these!).
For our plated dinner, we had the spring mix salad, champagne chicken, butter and chive whipped potatoes, sautéed green beans with toasted almonds, and white chocolate raspberry signature layer cake for dessert.
All of the service was prompt, the food was hot and actually better than the London Road Blackwoods restaurant!
I would highly recommend booking the Proctor Blackwoods event center for your wedding. It’s off the beaten path and has its own parking area and a hotel attached. I don’t like fighting downtown Duluth traffic and parking or crowds of tourists, and my out-of-town guests were appreciative.

We just had our wedding reception here at Black Woods in their even center. We live in Utah, so we had to do all of our planning remotely. We also had two receptions, so we were definitely on a budget. I love aquariums and when I googled things to do in Duluth, the Great Lakes Aquarium popped up. Did not know one existed, so I had to check it out. It was a creative and interesting place to visit. It gave some great history and science info on the lakes and Minnesota. It had some cool Sturgeon that you could pet. Had other fish native to the great lakes as well. Loved that it had a Bald Eagle. It did include an ocean section with some unique fish and coral reefs. This area include an octopus and some sea dragons. Very cool. Some great views of the harbor and the aerial bridge. The only reason I did not give it 4 stars was because of the steep parking price. Not sure why they charge so much for parking. The gift shop is a must stop. Some of the proceeds go to the parks of Minnesota...bonus!

This aquarium provided such a great experience! The variety of fish and wildlife was incredible! It was like visiting an aquarium and zoo combination. There is a touch pond stocked with Sturgeon (which are so gorgeous) and also a jellyfish touch area that were both open. The interactive learning stations geared for kiddos are awesome. When you pay so much for a Ribeye you expect it to be cooked to order but was overcooked.. it was still good .... But could have been much better if prepared as ordered. The Boat Club is a cozy restaurant overlooking the pier.
The service was very good, our server was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu and individual dishes.
For food we started with the crab artichoke dip which was rich and creamy but there was almost no crab in it , which for $18, was disappointing.
I started with the clam chowder which was very hardy and had a lot of depth to it. And the complimentary pop overs were fantastic!
The Rigatoni Alfredo was very flavorful but the added on shrimp were slightly mushy which again for an extra $15 added to an entree is very disappointing.
We had the orange dream cheesecake and chocolate lava cake for dessert and enjoyed them both.
We had higher hopes for this place but the prices don’t seem to accurately reflect the food that’s coming out of the kitchen, especially for the seafood…
We will give them another chance next time we’re in town as it could have been an off night but we will be a lot more cautious the next time.

Excellent food, superior service and lake side views. We chose outdoor seating but next time we will definitely opt for indoor dining. The tables outside are small patio style with very uncomfortable hard chairs. The music was too loud and made it hard for conversation. However, the food was outstanding. We all had appetizers and main entrées. The clam chowder beats San Francisco's best and the Calamari was on par with Vancouver's finest. All of the seafood was excellent, but the Steel Head Trout with garlic risotto was sublime, a 7 star plate of food! Service was exceptional. The NY strips were amazing, great flavor, they looked hand trimmed with a nice fat cap but not overly thick, and grilled to perfection. We got married at the Garden in December and we're so happy with our choice of venue! It was perfect for our size of wedding (we had ~240 guests), we decided to keep it simple decor-wise which was easy since they have string lights on the ceilings and brick walls. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD!!! We still have some of our guests reaching out to us to talk about how amazing the food was. We had a double sided buffet, which made the line go by significantly faster. There was even enough food for a good number of our guests to get more of certain items!
The management team was also outstanding! In the months leading up to our wedding they were always one phone call or email away, and were very prompt in their response. They had every answer to every question asked, and always had such an upbeat energy about them!

Celebrated our wedding at Sitio on June 15, 2024. The grounds were beautiful and in full bloom, and it truly felt like the magical fairy garden of my dreams! We held our ceremony in the vineyard and rented a sound system from Doucette's. With about 130 guests, we also chose to rent a tent (no walls, just cover) from Doucette's for a place to host our dinner, which was catered by the awesome Log Home Wood-Fired Pizza team! Our reception was held in the greenhouse, which was absolutely gorgeous and cool enough by the time we started the dance around 7 p.m. The greenhouse space included a sound system for the reception and some fun colored lights as well. We used some decor from Sitio; rented a few extra tables, chairs, and linens from Doucette's; rented some decor from the White House Co. in Fargo, ND (where we're based), and brought some decor from home.
Ken was our venue coordinator and point of contact. He is one of the friendliest, kindest, and most flexible people in the world, and we appreciate him and his team, including Sarah and Wyatt, so much! They were very helpful the day before and day-of the wedding.
Just know that this venue is more DIY than your traditional venue, so ask a lot of questions and identify some helpers among your family and friends who can help ensure everything is taken care of! As the first wedding of the 2024 summer season, we did a little extra cleaning up of some areas like the bar space but overall with help we were able to get it all done!
Also, we recommend bringing some additional coolers to keep beverages cold because there isn't a ton of fridge space for the bar, cake, and other items you might be refrigerating (I think we ended up bringing 3 or 4 large coolers). There is a water spigot outdoors for water refills but our other tip is to consider purchasing some water carafes (we got some nice glass ones with covers for $5/each from Walmart) and placed them on the dinner tables to ensure guests had easy access to water since it can get hot out there in the summer!
Last but not least, our photographer, Der Norden, is super familiar with the venue and she and her mom were extraordinarily helpful throughout the whole process leading up to the wedding and of course the day of. We would highly recommend working with Jen at Der Norden for her artistic talents, kindness and support, and knowledge of the venue. See her photos included in this review!
We had the most beautiful day and our guests kept commenting on what an incredible place it was. So glad we had our wedding at Sitio. It was unlike any other venue we've ever been to!

We booked a tour for the brown bears and it was an amazing experience. Feeding a carrot to a 1,000 pound (super adorable) predator is something I'll never forget. I've visited many accredited zoos. LSZ felt like a more private experience and a celebration of the north. The climbing areas are seriously impressive, I've been in bigger zoos that didn't offer that much vertical space. Every keeper was genuinely excited to talk about their animals. It was pleasant for us adults, but there were also children that looked like they were having fun at some sort of educational experience. This is a really special place that deserves more funding.

I cannot describe to you how horrific the conditions are here. There appears to be little to no maintenance and smell was so foul. There is a reason you have to pay outside of the building.
Almost every single exhibit is incredibly overgrown or it has hardly any vegetation at all.

I took my 14yr old son to his first concert at the DECC. It was my third time seeing Redman & Method Man. The show was great, but the staff was something else. I will remember how nice and engaging they were for a long time, granted most people had grey hair in the crowd. My son had questions, and they answered. Amazing city park. I have been visiting Duluth for the past 3 years and just now discovered this place. I wish I had visited a lot sooner.
So many trails to choose from, so many different nature areas. I visited on a Monday and at 9:30am the parking lot was almost full. So I would suggest visiting early if possible. Interpretive signs along the trails. The trails themselves were all very well maintained, and everyone that I encountered on them were very courteous and happy to be out in nature.

I reserved the e pavilion and playground, the rest of the park was open to public. So for anyone contemplating reserving the space, it is not worth it. None of the services I paid for were provided, other than garbage cans. I feel it is very frustrating that signage and a copy of my rental agreement was not posted, so that people weren't consistently interrupting my party space. I will NOT be renting the Lincoln Park pavilion playground again, and do not recommend it to anyone. I had hoped for things to be different with it being a new park, but riff raff will be riff raff.

Lincoln Park needs some TLC. Pathways are falling apart, work from the rebuild last year needs to be finished, Dead grass, retaining wall behind play ground is falling apart and being pushed over, portable toilets need to be cleaned, litter needs to be picked up, hill side needs to be planted where trees were clear cut, and lawn could use a mow.
