We had a premier room- and the views are spectacular. There’s just no denying that. However- the room wasn’t as clean as I would like, there were some holes and there were marks on several of the walls. Just wasn’t maintained well. The smell in the hallway on the way to our room always smelled like smoke, and our room smelled like damp mold. The bathroom had a big window for a great view, but wasn’t set up well. It was really hard to shower because the shower head was in the middle of the wall (instead of the end) and because of that- the floor just got soaked every time. There’s no good place to stand for a shower to ensure you aren’t spilling water. There’s also no vent in the bathroom so everything fogs up and is filled with moisture. I’m not a complainer - but the hotels we stayed at in Rome and Venice at the same price point were way nicer. There was also a weird rumbling noise we could hear all the time and never figured out where this came from. Breakfast was good- but I can’t for the life of me understand why they don’t set it up indoors to keep the pigeons away. The buffet is set up outside on the terrace where pigeons can fly constantly up on the food (which is gross and not hygienic). I don’t understand why not set it up inside- there’s plenty of room. Overall we did ask the front desk for a different room- they didn’t have anything available except a suite - which cost us an extra $1,500 for 4 nights. The suite seemed maintained very well, but less of a sea view than what we have. The front desk staff was nice- but the breakfast staff didn’t seem to want to be there. Service and staff are fantastic, make sure you use the bar on an evening, Rafael behind the bar is ‘the best’. Whilst our room was slightly small it was ok for us as we didn’t spend much time in it. The hotel and grounds are spotless and the pool area is very relaxing set in lemon and orange trees. The walk along the main road into town can be very busy but there is a quieter way if you go first right on leaving the hotel and meandering down towards the coast. About 20 minutes into town but less than ten to Sant’Agnello where you can watch beautiful sunsets with a Spritz.

The hotel is wonderful with amazing staff. It's a family run hotel that is a little dated but has lots of charm. The food is simple but delicious Italian fare with a limited menu that changes every night. Drinks are incredibly good value and were the cheapest I found in the week we stayed in Sorrento. Now onto the not so good bits.. The location is very handy if you don't like staying in the centre of a resort due to the noise at night however, the hotel is right on the main road which is incredibly busy day and night and the walk into town takes 10-15mins alongside the road with narrow pavements. All in all, I'd stay again at Hotel Girasole if only for the wonderful staff

The owners and their family were so warm. The charm of it was brilliant. The food was amazing and they had staff who were brilliant and knowing the guests. You could say it was old school Italian.
