Overrated place, charging entrance fee claiming as maintenance fee but not doing any maintenance. It was very obvious this place is lacking maintenance, dirty and everywhere stain of alga or lots of dried leaves. Many photos on google review are old photos, yes, they looked nice but that was many years ago. Now it look totally different and feel like abandoned place, yet they charge entrance fee. There is a small shop there, one of the guy working there has super bad attitude. When asking the direction to toilet he basically stared without answering, but, remember, on top of charging entrance fee they also charge toilet fee. And for the toilet is was super weird that they wrote on the wall asking you to save water DONT FLUSH….. I don’t recommend coming here, for any tourist.

It's very disappointing that this place is not well managed. If I come next year, there will most likely be nothing that has changed. For example, the landscaping of the area, the flowers are not in order, the pool water is dirty, and a lot of RM1 money & coins is thrown in, probably as a token of appreciation to the soldiers. This is a great spot for a family trip! While the parking area isn’t at a very high elevation, getting there still feels like a bit of an adventure. The path can be a little challenging, but the effort is well worth it.

The walk up to the hill is much more gradual than the Pyramid hill. Its better for the less fit tourist. Nice view of the kinabalu mountain from the peak of this hill. Its a nice location for good photo taking. Place is kept clean. However parking space is limited.

A mini hike spot for a fabulous photo session at the top. Along the trail is full with colourful flowers, all the way up to the top. There are a few benches available along the trail to stop and catch your breath. Entrance was only RM5/adult. Road to the entrance of the hill is quite challenging. Advised to use suitable cars. Best to hike early morning for the cold air and great views. After purchase tickets, you have to queue and wait for your turn to go on the trail because they limit the amount of people climbing up to avoid congestion at the top.

It's a so-so kind of experience. Had to pay before entering the property, in your car. If you want the picture with the white fence in overlooking the cow's grazing field, you should do it at the left side of the main entrance, before you enter the property. I didn't see any area similar to this inside the property.
The place is huge with a number of things to do such as feeding the calves and goats with no additional charges; but you do have to purchase the grass and milk at a designated counter for RM2 each. There is also the barn where you can go and see the adult cows. Around the area were a lot of flowers, so a photo opt.
They sell their products such as "ice cream" or they call it gelato (to me it was not an ice cream nor a gelato, it's more like a frozen yoghurt because the texture and taste were a bit sour like yoghurt. I don't know for other flavours but the original one was definitely a frozen yoghurt). They also sell pizza, sausages, nuggets, fries, milk cartons and yoghurts.
They have several stations selling their goods such as the main building, tents outside the main building and a cafe a bit further up the parking area. Just keep an eye out for them and avoid the very long queue at the main building just to buy them.
If you go in the morning maybe it'll be a bit cold but we arrived almost at noon so the wheather was just nice. Not too cold.

This place is over rated by the social media. Nothing much to see actually as all the cows grazing are much too far away to have a close up photo taking. Not many of them though. Those in the barn are just lazing around in a confinement area. The only reason that tourist are flocking in maybe because of the ideal location for photo taking of the kinabalu mountain as background. You will be fortunate to have the view if the clouds are not hovering on top of the mountain peak. The ice cream sold here are nice but at premium price. Anyway its a one time visit only for me. キャノピーウォークは、往復で1時間はかかります。結構な山道を30分登って行きます。裸足にサンダルでしたが、登れました。キャノピーウォークは1人10リンギットでした。
途中ランチして帰って、KKに帰ったのは夜8時でした。帰りも山道が大渋滞でした。
タクシーは、GRABの運転手さんに交渉して一日チャーターで450リンギットでした。

日本での本来の使用方法とはかなり異なりますが、現地の人々に温泉が溶け込んでいる様子を見て少し嬉しい気持ちになりました。
ただ、日本の温泉では同じことが出来ないことも理解して欲しいとも感じました。
キャノピーウォークは、ハッキリ言って廟です。
その他、入園料の他凡て別料金です。全て利用すると思っているより高額になります。
足湯も微妙に湯が汚れていて、足を入れる気持ちになれなかったです。
日曜日に来ました。人が多かった。駐車場は少なく路上に駐車した。海外からの旅行客はRM50。さらに雨が強く、足湯だけつかりました。温度は40℃くらいでちょうど良かった。

奥にはキャノピーウォークができる場所があります。ツアーガイドでキナバル公園とセットでのコースもあるので、観光には適しています。
日本人にとって温泉というよりかは、プールのような遊べる商業施設です。
運が良ければラフレシア園のラフレシアが見られるほか、バタフライ農場では珍しい蝶を見ることもできます。
日本の「温泉」をイメージして期待していると、大分、肩すかしを食らいます。硫黄泉ですが、「プール＋足湯」といったところでしょうか。ゆっくり入るところではありません。
一方で奥にあるキャノピーウォーク（木々の間を結んだ吊り橋）は最高にスリリングなアトラクションです。これは試す価値ありです。

Stopped by Sabah Tea Restaurant for a quick bite — we only had the pancakes, which were average in taste, nothing special. But the menu does offer some unique local dishes, and we saw other diners enjoying their food, so maybe the other items are better.
The view of the tea plantation adds a nice touch, though it’s not exactly stunning — parts of it look a bit abandoned or not well maintained. Still, it’s a peaceful spot to sit and relax with a cup of tea.

The drive to this place is scenic and beautiful, but do note that some parts of the road are bumpy with potholes and damages—drive carefully. It gets quite hot in the area, but there’s ample parking. There’s a tree house with a short canopy walk, which is chargeable for 10 minutes (price is shown in the picture attached).
We enjoyed a lovely walk along the tea plantation trail—great for taking photos and soaking in the lush greenery but bear in mind when we were there, the place was super hot. So some umbrellas or hats are advisable.

山小屋のベッドは快適です。シャワーもありますがお湯はでませんでした。
ソーラー電源のため天気が良くて運が良ければ温かいシャワーを浴びることが出来ると思います。食事はビュッフェスタイルです。僕が訪れた時は欧米人が中心でした。
翌朝ラバンラタ小屋からローズピーク(4095m)を目指します。ソロで行きましたが必ず1チームにガイドさんが一名付き添って行きます。夏に訪れましたが標高4000mを超えますので防寒着は必須です。海外登山は初めてでしたが現地登山ガイドさんとも仲良くなり楽しい山行でした。
シャワーはお湯出ました。

あとヴィアフェラータはそこまでしなくてもいいかも。
富士山より標高の高いところに登りたいけど、あまり時間は取れないという方には是非お勧めです。早朝からバスに乗って1泊２日で帰ってこられます。標高は4095メートルあり、最後の上り坂は正直きついですが、登った時の気持ちよさは何物にも代えがたい経験です。途中で宿泊する山小屋の料理をなめていましたが、味付けもしっかりしていておいしいです。しかもビュッフェ形式でしたのでマトンカレーを何回もお替りしていました。山小屋に宿泊したら深夜２時くらいに起きて登り始め5時くらいには頂上に着くかと思います。比較的安全な道も多いですが、途中ロープを伝ってしか登れない場所もありますので体が出来上がった年齢以上の方が登ることをお勧めします。シェルパさんというか荷物を持ってくれるガイドさんに頼めば500－1000円ほどで山小屋までもってきてくれますのでそれを活用するのはありかと思います。
最初は公園と直接やり取りしていたのですが突然連絡が取れなくなったので日本の旅行代理店経由で予約しました。金額的には1.5倍くらいですかね。
登り下りとも晴天に恵まれて最高の登山日和でした。日本の山のようにクネクネと山頂を目指すのではなく階段で最短距離を目指す感じです。距離はそれほど歩かないのですが一気に高度が上がるので高山病に弱い方は気を付ける必要があります。
帰りは一気に2000メートル近くをほぼ階段で下るので足ガクブルです。
高山病さえ気を付ければ山自体は初心者にも登りやすいので皆におすすめです。山小屋も快適でご飯も美味しいですね。強いて言えば費用くらいですが内容を考えればコスパは悪くないと思います。
ローカルツアーで行きました。思ったほど遠くないですが、道はがたがたなので移動手段だけでも手配するほうがいいかも。道中にも見れるし東南アジアで一番なのでやっぱり大きいです！朝10時くらいからは曇って見えにくくなるそう。朝8時ころは山の頂上まで見えるくらい晴れてました。綺麗でした。登りたくなった！
登山ガイドの同行と登録が必須の登山です。予約の方法として、日本の旅行会社でのツアー参加、現地コタキナバルの旅行会社やホステルでのツアー参加、そして個別予約があります。それにより料金は格段に変わります。もともと、外国人料金はマレーシア人の登山料金よりとても高いのですが、ツアーとなると数万円単位で変わってきますので、下調べが必要です。キナバル山自体は、とても整備されており、登りやすいのです。さすが世界自然遺産だけあって、とにかく植物が生い茂っていて珍しい花が観察できます。キナバル山は富士山と違い、毎日の登山客上限が決まっているので、日程が決まっている場合は事前予約が良いですが、意外と宿での前日予約でも融通が効く気がしました。中間地点で食べるバイキングもとても美味しかったですし、寒さも富士山と比べるとマシなので、登りやすいかと思います。
多分一番お手軽に富士山の標高を超えれる山。
世界一のヴィアフェラータを体験する事も出来ます。
日帰りは不可。なぜなら他の方も書いてますが8合目くらいにあるサヤッサヤチェックポイントがAM5:30で通行止めになるから。
ちなみに山小屋は21時消灯、1:30起床です。
ヴィアフェラータのロング（ロウズピークサーキット）は初心者でも問題ないとかありますが初心者は厳しいと思います。
あと事前に講習受けますが1時間以上のしっかりしたもので全部英語です。わりと大切な事を話すので多少は聞けないと不安になるかもしれません。
それでもやるという方でショートとロングで悩んでるなら間違いなくロングがおススメです。
ショートはちょっと物足りないかも。

キナバル国立公園内にある植物園です。熱帯雨林で咲く植物を観察することができます。蘭がとてもたくさん咲いていました。
私が訪問したときは地元の人が結婚式を挙げている時で招待を受けた人々がとても楽しそうにお祝いしていました。熱帯雨林のため、突然のスコールがあることは念頭に置いておいたほうがよいかもしれません。

It is a nice short hike to a view point (40mins at a good pace) - it is a really good view for sunrise but was busy -70ppl on a few raised platforms. It is privately operated so you have to register in the town 25 MYR and 100MYR for a guide (can be shared). I followed an offline map and didn’t realise this as there was no signage - in the end they tried to fine me for trespassing (starting at 150-100MYR) and locked up my bike. Eventually they let agreed to let me go to the registration centre to discuss with the manager (a really nice guy who let me explain the situation and let me pay the entrance fee and continue on my way). Bit disappointed the guards were so hostile and asking for a fine that they were clearly going to pocket but technically I was in the wrong and the company did end up coming to a fair outcome. As much as I don’t enjoy guided walks when you don’t need a guide this wasn’t worth the ball break to resolve the issue.

Arnab Village is a small but charming spot nestled deep in a rural area, so getting there can be a bit tricky due to the narrow, bumpy roads. The road leading to the lodging is quite bumpy and goes far into the interior, so do expect a bit of a rough drive. Getting a clear view of Mount Kinabalu is entirely up to luck the weather plays a big role. If it rained the day before, the chances of seeing the mountain are low due to mist or clouds.
The farmstay is located in Bundutuhan, which is slightly farther from the actual base of Mount Kinabalu. The surrounding area is spacious and green, but can get muddy during rainy days. There are basic cooking and BBQ facilities available outdoor. No kitchen available indoor or in the room.
The room itself is nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a simple overnight stay. This place is quite popular on Xiao Hong Shu, so it can get crowded during peak seasons. There’s also an on-site restaurant with a simple menu, the food was okay, but nothing memorable.
Room rates are budget friendly, and they also offer camping options around the area. The staff were polite but not particularly proactive or helpful, don’t expect much assistance, and it's quite hard to locate them at the reception if you need anything. One thing to note is you’ll need to remove your shoes before entering the main building. If your room is on the upper floor, you’ll be walking barefoot or in socks upstairs.

Stayed for a night here. Honestly, nothing much to highlight about the accommodation itself — it was really just the view of Mount Kinabalu that stood out (though, to be fair, many other places in the area also offer that view).
Check-in was fine. If the receptionist isn’t around, you’ll need to call the number on the counter card, or wait until a passing staff member to inform the receptionist of your presence.
The room was reasonably clean, but in my opinion, not worth the price compared to other nearby options. The toilet looks better than the room itself. To make matters worse, there was a power outage from about 11 pm until 4 am. Luckily, it rained throughout the night, otherwise the room would have been unbearably stuffy. Oddly enough, the spotlight outside our room was still working during the outage 🤔.
Breakfast was included, but quite disappointing. Understandably, ingredients may be harder to source in this area, but the spread was so uninspiring that I didn’t even feel like taking photos.
Service was another letdown. The three staff on duty at the canteen (two ladies, one gentleman) were unfriendly, almost as if we were inconveniencing them. An elderly lady even wrongly accused me of not handing over my breakfast voucher, despite the fact I’d been eating for over 30 minutes by then. Thankfully, her colleague corrected her, but the interaction left a sour taste. The food itself wasn’t appetising, though I still ate a little out of my “Asian mindset” — wanting to at least get some value for what I paid.
Overall, while I do plan to return to Kundasang in the future, this accommodation won’t be on my list again.
Side note: If you’re driving a rental car, please take extra care on the way here. The road conditions are terrible, with multiple metal rods sticking out — a real risk for puncturing your tyres.

booked the dormitory to stay and contacted them through whatsapp (they were very responsive and quick with my questions 👍) it is pretty far from everything (minimally 30min drive from the main road to the accoms), but i would say its very worth the rocky and hilly 30min drive in, given the amazing views.
love the late check in (latest 9pm) as it is really accommodating and check-in was quick and fuss free. RM60/night for a single bed in the dorms, with a shared toilet next to the dorms. it’s an open air toilet so do expect many bugs around. there are hangers in the showers to hang your clothes, not bad! the dorms were generally clean although the insect nets covering the doors are broken so bugs do find their way in (prepare insect repellent!!)
there’s a cafe located in the accoms (opening hours are 7am-11am and 5pm-9pm) with 7am-930am being buffet breakfast. food cooked by the chef was good and menu items were affordable and delicious. there’s tables and chairs and a patio around the accoms, very vibes to chill and enjoy a meal!
cons:
- only 2 plugs located in one corner of the room, so best to bring an extension cord so there’s sufficient plugs for everyone
- broken insect netting in the rooms means insects find their way in
- no toilet paper, bring your own
- room has no fan or anything, ventilation pretty poor if room was packed but during my 4 night stay i was alone so wasn’t that bad
- very far out from the main road, no facilities nearby (outside food etc. are minimally 30min away but there’s a cafe in the accoms so you’ll be able to find food)
overall, a very pleasant 4 night stay with friendly staff. will be back!

We stayed at Hounon Ridge Farmstay & Camping for 2 nights and were absolutely blown away by the stunning views of Kundasang and Mount Kinabalu. Waking up to the majestic mountain scenery and peaceful surroundings was a truly unforgettable experience. The cool air and natural setting made it the perfect spot to unwind.
Breakfast was included and simple yet satisfying. The rooms and shared spaces were clean and cozy, and the staff were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay.
That said, getting there is not for the faint-hearted. The drive from the city to Ranau and up to the accommodation was quite terrifying at times, with damaged roads, steep uphill sections, and areas affected by landslides (tanah runtuh). We highly recommend driving a higher-powered vehicle, as the route includes sharp climbs and uneven surfaces where a stronger engine makes a real difference.
Despite the challenging journey, the incredible views and peaceful atmosphere at the top made it all worth it. A perfect mountain retreat — just come prepared!

It’s an inexpensive hotel. The location is great - 5mins walk to the town centre. The rooms are nice but in need of maintenance. In Rm 508, Bidet and washbasin tap were leaking. Mattress needs to be flipped or changed - you can actually see in sagging in the middle. I think some of the floorboards need to be relaid or replaced. And I think there needs to be some brighter lighting in the room.
I would add a screen door so that the room can be ventilated without allowing insects to fly in.

The room was extremely spacious and comfy. Room and toilet were clean although everything does looks dated.
Location is ideal as it is near most of the activities that you would want to do near kundasang.
What was non ideal was the tap doesn't comes with hot water and the WiFi for my room was non existence. As the TV was internet only that means that is zero TV programs that you could watch.
One point to note was that Celcom coverage is also bad in this hotel. Maxis is ok.

4. The chalet had very very steep steps so it was horrible that we had to carry the luggage up and was not convenient for my 77 yo mum and 4yo boy so we requested a change of room to smaller one despite paying for the big room.
5. The doors at the chalet either had holes or is very shaky. Quite scary. The window at the door had no curtain so no privacy. Ppl can peep in if they want and see everything outside the room.
6. Got safe but can't use. It's broken.
7. Got coffee and cups but no teaspoon. Had to go restaurant to get some. No sugar provided.
8. Boiler leaking so we exchanged one.
9. We changed rooms for another reason. There was no TV at the chalet. They informed us during check in.

The road to reach here is quite challenging almost like an off-road experience, with some very deep holes along the way. But once you arrive, the place is really unique compared to others, with a beautiful Japanese theme that makes it stand out.
My mom also rented a kimono here, and the price was reasonable and it really added to the whole Japanese vibe and made our visit even more special. 👘
It would be even better if the access road could be improved, as this would make the journey safer and more comfortable for visitors. I believe more people would love to come if the road conditions were upgraded.

Highly suggest to drive in with four-wheel cars coz the path going in is very rough with many potholes, quite hard to parking as well.
Staff are very helpful and responsive to our requests.
We happened to stay in the mid-floor and the floor is super thin. You can heard the upstairs walking and talking, not recommended for light sleepers. Also shower is not strong nor very hot to a hot-shower-obsessor like me.
An upside is that their beds are really comfy, sheets are clean too.
They also provide good appliances like fridge, grills, stove and pots, you can get groceries from the nearby markets to cook meals.
They have free yukata rental for in-house guest, if you are interested to be in costume ~

The view was really everything! Do book on the highest floor as the view from there is much better than the second floor. Some disclaimers is that the amenities aren’t great for cooking as there are limited plates and fridge space etc but they do provide bbq pit and have pretty affordable room service. The noise isolation between levels is also not great for light sleepers although i’m a deep sleeper so there was no problem for me but my downstairs neighbours did come up in the middle of the night to ask us to keep it down. The drive to this location is quite challenging, as many parts are uphill, single lane only, and very very steep so definitely do manage your expectations. The staff here however are the sweetest and very accommodating and the view from the rooms really do make up for all the other short comings :)

Entrance fee is RM8 for adults and u get to pick which activity you'd like to do. I got to feed the little goats, hug them baby goats, play with them a bit. Then i also get to milk a goat. We stayed in Lot 6, and while it’s cozy for 5 people, it’s a bit tight. It would be great if the owner added a tier storage rack for luggage. I was a bit worried about the reviews mentioning flies, but luckily, we didn’t see any during our stay. The water heater worked fine too, so no issues there. Also, reception room provides enough essential stuff to buy, we buy for our bbq.
Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed the stay!

We stayed in Lot 6. It cost us around RM300 yet the room was incredibly dirty. The beds looked like they weren’t really cleaned, like the sheets weren’t changed at all. It still had hair and debris.
The small kitchen area even had a leftover riceball from a previous guest’s stay. This shows that the room definitely wasn’t cleaned properly. Yet the lot had a policy of asking guests to clean up properly or there would be additional charges.
The whole roof lining of the lot was stained as seen in the pictures attached. Some light switches weren’t even usable. Me and my friends weren’t even comfortable staying for more than 3 hours. The only pro side was the view though, staff didn’t take responsibility also, just gave reasons which we suspect were just lazy excuses. We wouldn’t recommend it at all.

We have 16 people and rented lot 7 and lot 6. The time when we arrived the water heater was not working for lot 7 as the water pressure was 0. Water heater will not function when they don't detect a pressure from the inlet. So we have to wait for quite a while for them to just switch on the pressure pump which I think they should have done before we check in at 3pm. So we all ended up taking shower after they have done the fixing until 6:30pm.
As for the room. Even though the weather is cold but I still think a certain air ventilation is still needed or at least a mosquito netting for their windows so we can open them and not be afraid of insects entering our rooms. There are just TOO MANY INSECTS!!! The whole room feels too stuffy and my son's head was soaking wet from his own sweat. Even a cheap wall fan adjusted to lower level one to keep the room with certain airflow will be very well appreciated.
In summary you only have a well maintained garden but failed in providing a proper homestay facilities.
I'm not sure if the owner have tried staying in these homestay to really assess the situation.

View for Mount K was a bit obstructed coz of another house in front of us.

Was really excited and thought highly of the place once we arrived as the view was pretty nice and the surroundings were well kept but that excitement disappeared real quick. The unit we got was incredibly unhygienic, with flies everywhere and a leaking ceiling. And the fridge had a rancid smell too. Then for a unit meant for 10 with two bathrooms, only one shower could work.
But service was decent, the receptionist and the other workers were friendly.

This forest stole my heart and breath away. An astounding forest! Used to be a trail for some villagers to find food/hunting, the community decided to open this trail to the public after knowing about Maragang Hill. Every part of this forest is just gorgeous and photo worthy too.
Ascending took us about 1 hour 55 minutes plus rest and of course picture taking sessions. Descending is only about 47 minutes with a few seconds of rest. Andrew, our guide was really friendly and have a lot of stories to share. He patiently hike within our pace.

But upon reaching Odu-Odu platform, we were greeted by the beautiful colorful butterflies and white birds flying in groups, having so much fun on that sky. It was like they are performing their best for us. What a humbling experience.
I could say this is a medium level hike but considering 80% of it are stairs, you do not come here unprepared. The stairs could be intimidating but they built it according to the right steps and momentum.

A hidden gem around the Kundasang-Ranau area. Do note this is a private land, and hence will require a guide as mentioned in the listing, but cost wise, it was minimal and the hike for 2 people costed me not a lot and I can see the money is used for maintenance of the area. We stayed here as part of our tour in Borneo with EXO tours as a trailfinders package trip. the accommodation was very comfortable and clean, evening meal and breakfast was served in the restaurant in the park. The food was excellent and service was amazing. Staying here allows entry in to the park after 3pm.

We stayed in the riverside cottage which consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a hall. Ideal for 2 small families or one big family. It is very cosy just beside the flowing stream. Very comfortable stay experience. This place is far from the main town of Ranau so you are solely relying on their restaurant. We like the food. But not very happy with the breakfast options. This place is within the Hotspring KK National Park. So everything is within walking distance. A good piece of advice is to carry your rain gear because it rains very unpredictably here. Also if you are planning to visit make sure you arrive early because activities close by 3 pm.
