We've been meaning to check out the new gallery for a while so we were very excited to go! The art itself was great once we got there. But the event had said it would be going on until 9pm, with drinks for those 21+ from 5pm-9pm, we showed up a little after 6, and when we first got there the gate was locked, there where no signs on the gate but the open sign in the upstairs window was still on. We weren't sure we had the right entrance so we went into the book store to wander around and asked if they knew where the entrance was, the person down there told us that it had been the gate we saw so we headed back up to it, by the time we finished the gate had been unlocked. When we got upstairs we didn't see anyone, no staff greeted us and it smelt like someone had been smoking in the gallery. We wandered around for a bit to look at everything since we had planned to be gift shopping, but after a while without seeing any staff it felt pretty awkward so we left without getting anything. On our way out we saw some bottles of wine on the counter, my partner claimed they looked empty but I can't say for sure. Guess they could have been really busy earlier on in the day before we got there. The art and display where set up very well though and it all seemed very reasonably priced. I hope that we have a better experience next time since there aren't really tons of gallery's in down town Vancouver, we'll probably just try to go on a regular day instead of during an event next time.
