They should rename this museum to the taxidermist museum as there is a heck of a lot of stuffed animals, insects shown on the lower ground floor. Two of the three floors are accessible to wheelchairs users. The entrance fees are reasonable at £5 per adult and can be used as a year pass should you wish to torment your vegetarian friends on return visits. The venue drinks were reasonably priced. Was a little hard to find the entrance as it off the main road but has a fabulous interior with plenty of seating. Sound system was amazing 🩵

We have visited twice recently. Once to the cinema which was excellent and more recently to see a show in the Maltroom. The show was fine but you should know that the venue has a flat floor and many pillars so some seats (especially towards the back) have restricted views. We ate in the restaurant - the food is ok and it's a nice place to spend some time.

I've never visited before so didn't know what to expect but we accidentally arrived on pizza and pasta night. I chose the pepperoni pizza with vegan cheese for £5. It was amazing. The staff were friendly and remembered our favourite drinks when we returned to the bar. It was busy outside but very relaxing sat on the terrace in the sun. I'll definitely be visiting again.

This is a beautiful place to visit. The staff are welcoming friendly and knowledgeable. The building is elegant and filled with light. The exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, are exquisite. Used our Art Pass to enter for free. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The building is wonderful and the paintings and exhibitions are well thought out. It was lovely to see modern pieces amongst the old masters! We will definitely be back. Oh and if you are parking don't use the pay and display just as you enter (like we did!), go further down towards the museum as its slightly cheaper and much less busy! Oh and my other half was impressed by the postcard collection in the shop!

Great that the permanent collection is open again. I also really enjoyed the two temporary exhibitions that just opened. I've only been climbing for about a year, but I think KendalWall is far and away the best place I could have started, and that is absolutely down to Mel who runs the non-binary inclusive Women's+ Social on Monday nights. As the previous review by Amy so eloquently conveyed, Mel (along with all the wonderful people who come along) makes climbing feel accessable, and improvement achievable. The hands on support from Mel has been amazing. The effort she puts into running the Social is a huge credit to both her and the Wall, she is worth her weight in gold and I don't doubt is the reason many people decide to stick with climbing. Without it I don't think I would have had the confidence to keep going long enough to see myself building skills, strength and confidence. People are so supportive and friendly, if you're worried you'll get stuck half way up the wall and begin the slide into a panic attack as I have, then it's worth knowing that every time that's happened I've had people from the Monday nights help me breathe and get down safely.
Also shout out to the lovely staff on the front desk, they make signing in a pleasure and have always been incredibly helpful.

I had made a special trip to kendal today from Bolton to specifically purchase some Mint cake for my mums up coming birthday!! Excellent round of golf, considering the time of year and the amount of clubs around that are struggling with the constant rain Kendal golf club has really surprised myself and my playing partner on how well the course is performing.
Great views of the area and the fairways had an array of variety of technical difficulty to navigate around.
Upon arrival and entering into they shop to check in the lady was very welcoming, plenty of equipment for sale if your wanted any last minute gear.
We had a quick bite to eat before our round in the clubhouse which again we were greeted by a lovely gent who took our order, very nice sausage and egg barm i must admit.
Most definitely will be back soon with a full 4 ball to tackle the course.

Wow. What a fantastic course.
Very hilly starts with a par4 up a big hill. But the views are fantastic around this course. Some gorgeous holes, a few blind tee shots. A few greens had some work on going and had been seeded when we played. This didnt really subtract from the experience. I really enjoyed this challenging course, you'd definitely benefit playing with someone who knows each hole or playing it multiple times.

Just got back from an open at KGC. Absolutely tremendous course for the money. Generally in great nick - a couple of the greens needed a bit of work, but that’s not surprising after the recent hot weather - most courses are suffering in the same way.
Every hole offers something different - the last five holes in particular are excellent, with 16 and 17 amongst the best in the area. Highly recommended, especially at this price point. Hilly at times, but what goes up must come down! Great hospitality in the bar afterwards too.

Valencian chicken was very tasty and cooked perfectly.
Calamari - some of the best I've ever had.
Tortilla - flavourful and a generous size portion
Vegan albondigas - great to see something like this on the menu, the spicing on the chickpea meatballs was amazing.
Pisto con huevo - we chose the vegan options without the huevo but again the dish was super tasty and cooked very well.
Just a shame we didnt have more people with us to try/order more dishes from the menu!

Had a really nice meal here at the weekend with family. The sangria was excellent & we all enjoyed a variety of tapas which was absolutely delicious. 3 out of 5 of us are vegetarian and the menu was very accommodating with clear dietary notes (such as certain cheeses containing animal rennet). We were visiting Kendal and staff at the local art gallery recommended Comida. We weren’t disappointed. Food was so tasty and enjoyed by adults and children alike. Came here for a day on the range and some food. Cracking driving range facility with some really good tech and great prices on balls and pretty cheap to rent some clubs for the day. All of the staff were lovely and plenty of people on the driving range took the time out of their day to help me with my swing as i'm only just starting out. The club shop was really well stocked and the staff were very helpful too.
On to the food, we sat outside overlooking the 18th green and got to watch some cracking shots while enjoying some lovely food as well. Loads of choice on the menu. I had the classic burger (pictured) which was lovely and my partner had a brilliant pizza one of the best i've had in a while! The staff in the restaurant were lovely and kind and welcoming too. The prices of the food were relatively good value and the coffee was nice too.
I have nothing bad to say about my trip and would definitely recommend anyone from beginner to pro to come to the driving range and the course looked great too. And of course I recommend the restaurant too! Lovely trip out!

We went there just for sunday roast dinner at 4pm. We did not book a table, but they could give us one. Food was good, meats were a bit overcooked - dry and crunchy on the outside, but otherwise were really good and huge amount (vegies too). A very friendly gentleman working there helped us choose from their wide variety of chocolates, and his recommendations were spot on.

This is a gorgeous little chocolate shop and cafe just off the main shopping street in Kendal. The shop is right next door to the cafe but is connected and can be accessed by a set of stairs, although the are very narrow and low.
The staff are great and very friendly and decoration and seating (in the café) are very traditional looking and in keeping with the stone built building. There is a nice touch in the form of a sign showing a brief history of chocolate production.
The food smelled great, but the draw for me was the the huge range of hot chocolate drinks available. I had the Highway man (salted caramel) and with a massive blob of whipped cream was absolutely delicious. My partner ordered a Merry Cherry and after nabbing a taste I was again Impressed. Another point, these hot chocolates were only £2.50 each! Amazing price for what they are.

We visited the Museum on the recommendation of The Tourist Information Centre and boy was that a good recommendation. Despite being small and affordable this was among the best in Britain (and we've visited all the London ones). The museum is a series of rooms which you can walk through and examine (without touching of course) the exhibits. Sound recordings add to the atmosphere and textual information boards give loads of interesting detail of life in The Lakes.
It was great and we really enjoyed it.
Lovely gift shop too and a little restaurant which was sadly very understaffed the day we visited but the chef did a sterling job of meeting customers needs. Well done him.

Took my son here for skiing and he had a great time with nice members of staff and skiing supervisor. We went the following week and my son was very exited to ski. We were told he couldn’t ski as he was too young. My son was very upset as he had been looking forward to it all week. We had the best time canyoneering and rock climbing with Iain. I went with my partner for a half day canyoneering at church beck and another half day rock climbing at langdale. Iain was communicative and flexible and was happy to arrange pick up for us at a very reasonable price which was helpful as we didn’t have a car and public transport can be tricky in this area. Drop him an email or text if you’re uncertain about making a booking, but his website is extremely informative and true to the experience we had with him!
The church beck canyon was beautiful. We got to go down several waterfalls and do a few jumps as well as splashing and swimming around.
Climbing at Langdale was brilliant. The views were amazing. My partner is an experienced boulderer and enjoyed the more challenging climbs whereas I was a bit more nervous but still managed to do a few of the easier routes with Iain’s encouragement.
We got a good adrenaline hit during both activities whilst feeling completely safe the whole time because Iain is highly experienced and he provided all the appropriate safety equipment.
Iain was incredibly reassuring and encouraging, and great fun. We came away buzzing and with a strong sense of personal achievement.
Excellent value for money. We’d love to do it again!

What a day!
My wife and I were looking for a day kayaking in the lakes to really get to grips with kayaking skills. We found Iain online, and after a quick chat, planned a whole day on Ullswater.
I'd also asked if we could spend any downtime on the day learning 101 orienteering skills.
What can I say... It was the adventure highlight of our trip! Weather was poor in the morning, so we shuffled the day to spend the morning learning all about mapping, pacing, wayfinding etc - had an awesome time navigating the hills around Glenridding and Iain taught us about the trees/landscapes too.
Then we hit the kayaks in the afternoon. Bit windy, shallow waters because of the recent dry spells, but great fun.
Iain was super encouraging, flexible, and got us trying things we'd not done before. Built so much confidence in the foundational skills you MUST have when going hiking.
The day was brilliant, even more adventurous and educational than we could have imagined 🙌 great fun.

Fantastic experience in Great Langdale this week on the 1/2 day introductory rock climbing course. We were fortunate to have great weather all morning, and spent the whole 4hour session at the rock face climbing. Iain was very friendly and confidence inspiring, and once he was happy with our climbing / belaying, left us to get on with it whilst putting more lines in so we got the most from our time. In planning our trip to the Lake District I wanted to get the kids out on one of the lakes to do a bit of kayaking as part of our activities for the week.
I found Lakes Outdoor Experience from a Google search and emailed an enquiry. Iain responded quickly with all the relevant information and we booked a half day kayaking experience on Grasmere.
On the day, we had a great time. Iain met us at the pre-arranged location and, after getting kitted up in all of the necessary gear that was provided, we hit the water.
Iain instructed us all on the basic kayaking skills, including a few games intended to practice and improve our abilities, and we spent the next several hours on the lake.
It can be tricky to keep my 3 kids (13, 10, 10) occupied and enthusiastic for extended periods of time, but they all loved it and the time flew by.
Would highly recommend if you're heading up to the lake district and Iain is a great instructor/guide
