ブンダバーグ観光のハイライト。ミュージアムをちらっとひやかすだけ、というのはできないようで、１時間に１度のツアーに参加、という形です。平日でしたが、我々のグループも大勢参加していて大盛況に見えました。きれいなミュージアムを自分で回り、簡単なムービーを見た後、ツアーガイドと一緒に工場を回ります。ここはケータイなどの持ち込み厳禁。ガイドさんは大勢の参加者が相手でもユーモアを絶やさずとても良かったです。糖蜜の味見で子供は大喜びでした。ツアーの最後には、お待ちかねのラムの味見。自分で飲んでみたいものを２つ選んで注文できます。子供はソフトドリンクが注文可能。
事前にネットからチケット買うと少しだけディスカウントしてもらえます。

When you say Bundaberg you automatically think Bundaberg Rum and rightly so. This tour starts with a self guided tour of the Museum showing the history of Bundaberg rum which is very informative and jovial at the same time, and yes the polar bear is there. What follows next is a tour of where they make the rum. Our guides for the day were G and Taylor and they were fantastic, very knowledgeable and also full of “dad” jokes. Note you are not allowed to take cameras, phones, anything electrical whilst on the tour, this is for safety reasons. At the end of the tour you get to have two drinks of any of their range. Don’t worry if you are not normally a rum drinker as they will help you choose an alternative to your normal tipple. It is advised to book ahead as they can sell out. But I really think it is a must do when visiting Bundaberg.

This is a brilliant little museum. I'm not that interested in aviation so didn't think I'd enjoy this visit much but there's so much personal information about the man himself(with the exception of his complicated marital life) that you quickly become intrigued by him. There's also quite a few hands on exhibits for the kids too to keep them amused as well as three short films.
A special touch is his English home that was shipped over and re erected on site.
Allow about an hour for a visit. The added bonus is the botanic gardens and cafe immediately on hand.
Staff are very friendly too and there is a reasonably priced gift shop.

Awesome adventure! This goes beyond a museum and showcases the exciting, high adrenaline life of Bert Hinkler in such a fun, hands on & interactive way. We loved every bit of it. Highly recommend a visit.
The entire area is wonderful. It is a shame all of it isn't open on Saturdays as we still haven't be able to see The Bundaberg History Museum. The botanical gardens are sensational & it's a lovely drive through, or walk through or train ride around the park.

Looking for something to do when visiting Bundaberg, this is definitely the place to come to. It is free to enter and there is plenty of parking. There are three museums on site, Hinkler Hall of Aviation which also includes Hinkler House, Fairymead House Sugar History Museum and the Bundaberg & District Historical Museum. The best deal is to buy a museum pass so you get to see all three at a reduced price. There is a great cafe on site for when you are hungry called Cafe 1928. A miniature sugar train that takes you around the park. There is also the Chinese Gardens and the Japanese Gardens which are both beautiful. The park is full of wildlife and birds so do take in the beauty. There is so much to do, you can easily spend the whole day here and is very easy to walk around.

Situated in the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens this is a fabulous museum about the history of the sugar industry in and around Bundaberg. It originally was the sugar mills manger’s residence for Bundaberg Sugar and was carefully moved to this site. You have to enter via the top floor, which has all the rooms dedicated to the founding families of the area, with the ground floor all about sugar and how it is made. As visitors to Australia we found this imposing Queensland plantation house interesting as was the small section on sugar cane farming.
There was little to interest children however and the whole visit only lasts about 30 minutes.
Don't go out of your way to visit but it's worth a quick exploration on the combined ticket with the Hinkler Aviation museum and Heritage centre. The botanic gardens provide its setting with its handy cafe nearby.
Visiting times are restricted so you need to plan ahead.

Killing time in Bundaberg, I decided to go to the art gallery. As I entered I spoke to someone on reception who explained their were 3 exhibits on at present. Downstairs, there was a exhibit titled "Savour", which highlighted that mot people spend only 17 seconds at each piece, so they were encouraging you to savour each piece and I did exactly that. Rebecca (Gallery Director) has a keen eye and has curated some amazing exhibitions.
Currently, they have a exhibition from secondary students and it was beyond. The talent and emotions in the pieces made it hard to believe the age of these artists. Truly astonishing.
Aside from the art the staff are some of the friendliest I have met (especially Sandy). They not only know everything about gallery but also Bundaberg and the surrounding area. This knowledge really enriched our road trip.

We went for the free kids crafts on a day visit in the summer holidays, which was great! A little table was laid out to help ourselves so we took our time colouring and enjoying the aircon and quiet. They also have a nice little nook for kids to do drawing in.

Situated on the Burnett River this is a fabulous restaurant with an amazing view. There are two levels that you can sit and eat on. Everything is cooked fresh, just order it at the counter and the next thing you know you have a scrumptious seafood meal. The view from grunske's eating area is pretty cool, over looking the Burnett river in Bundaberg. Plenty of outdoor eating areas upstairsand downstairs, with amazing food. Book in advance if you can, as this is a very popular place to come for a meal. Grunske's has limited parking, which we didn't mind as we got a park out on the street. The staff here are amazing, kind and very knowledgeable about the local area and their seafood. Decided to take my partner out for dessert as we were craving Apple Crumble. Walked into the bistro and up to the bar, and instantly had a warm welcome by one of the bar/service staff members.
The Crumbles came out in quick time (even with being a very busy night) and the SIZE of the meal for the price is phenomenal.

I've stayed at many caravan parks and this one here is my top pick, just amazing!
The view that you get from being just across from the center of Bundaberg.
For those who love a stroll the North Bridge is just around to the left.. beautiful to walk across and into town.
Riverdale has great toilet and shower facilities and a fully equipped camp kitchen for you to do some cooking, watching some TV and enjoy the facilities on offer.
For those who need to empty their vans toilet there is an awesome waste dump called " Dump Eazy " great water pressure too. The laundry facilities are great ( eftpos) and only $4 per load..huge machines & fast dryers! The best in Bundaberg in my opinion!
You feel safe here, it's open with cement slabs for vans & campers. Loads of room.

The reception also has milk and basic supplies and necessaries like ice cream lol.
The Rooms they have there are amazing too, so cozy for a very affordable price.

Needed to stay close to town for an appointment. Well this caravan park was so handy, just cross the bridge and you are in town. It's not a very big park. Very tidy and clean. It is right on the river, however no view due to mangroves. There were midgies late in the afternoon. Reception staff was very friendly. We stayed in a caravan at the park.The park requires a bit of upgrading if it wants to appeal to the travelling grey nomads but if you're looking for a budget stay it is fine. The amenities were clean and tidy. The internal roads/lanes were dirt and a little pot holey but this helps keep the vehicle speeds down but can also be a bit dusty. We had a pleasant stay and it was close to Bundy central. The UTurn at the intersection once over the bridge travelling from South is a bit of a concern but not the fault of the park.
