I've always loved Elm Park 🏞️ I used to bring my girls there when they were little. My husband and I were in the area for our grandkids baptism and stopped at Elm Park just to go for a walk . It's still beautiful I love the bridge with the locks my husband and I will go back next time to place a lock of our own on the bridge we met in Worcester 20+ years ago and got married there in 2007 so we plan on getting back there whenever possible. It's a great park, especially for being in a city area. There's a pond with a couple bridges and paths around it. The park is also full of art pieces and a historical tree. There's a nice playground for the kids. Only been there once so I'm not sure what else is around. Upon reading the reviews, I've discovered that I had failed to pay the parking fee while visiting the Quinsigamond State Park... It was the middle of night and there wasn't anybody to take my parking money. Anyways, there was a very good view of the bridge across Lake Quinsigamond to the south of the park. The bridge was lit beautifully at night. There were also some houses on the other side of the lake that made for some pretty night shots across the lake. There was a sandy area, but I didn't really get a chance to go on the sand since the park was so dark at night. There seems to be plenty of street parking available nearby, so if you're just trying to get some exercise at the park, consider parking for free in the nearby small streets.

Barbra J Walker annual Butterfly festival. Was excellent! Fantastic displays from the caterpillar people.. was awesome to see many different types of trees with actual caterpillars on them. Each display had its own que card w type of caterpillar and what Butterfly it would turn into.
Also the gentleman who was showing the caterpillars via microscopes was truly amazing. He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic, it was difficult to not want to stay there for hours listening to him and and watching all the various caterpillars and larve with bees in them. Was quite fascinating. Learned a lot.
Fun free activities and crafts for the kids. Including face paint. I think my favorite craft was the cute " animated" caterpillar on leaf. Very creative.
Very knowledgeable vendors too. From " ask a gardener" to awareness about better environmental pesticides or how to get rid of mice/ rats etc without harsh chemicals that also kill the various other species that feed on them. Was a good gathering of knowledgeable folks.
The grounds themselves are lovely and great for hiking abd viewing all kinds if wildlife and butterflies & insects ect..
Fun woodsy play area for kids as well as lots of benches and swings to just hang back and admire nature and surroundings. Was kinda magical imo..
Definitely would return even for a non event to walk the grounds.

We had a few hours to occupy while our dog was having surgery at Tufts. We found this conversation & wildlife center and checked it out. This is a terrific place to take a walk in nature. There’s plenty of parking and there’s a visitor center. The trails are well maintained and the walking is pretty easy… no hills to speak of. They have trail maps and there’s maps posted along the way. We saw quite a few birds of different species. It was a very relaxing enjoyable time. Besides that it serves a great purpose.

This place is very well maintained by Audobon society. Trails are clean and well marked with nice big signs and directions. Due to tall trees all around, it can get dark here quite early in the evening, so be aware of that.
To explore this property you can either take membership of Audobon society and then you can explore multiple properties within state of MA for free. Or alternatively you can put some donations in the donation box at the main walking entrance of property.
We went there today and one main trail was closed due to flooding, but clear signs were posted about it.

Established in 1990, it s located in the headwater region of the Blackstone River Watershed. It boasts to be the largest urban wildlife sanctuary in New England.
You can do bird watching, bird photography, picnic, kids play , trails. There are wooden benches to sit and relax on the way. In the nature play area, the wooden swing is placed right at the location that gives you a feel as if you are in your private garden.
On the Saturday afternoon of May, it had good number of visitors but the calmness prevailed. Parking is limited but seems to be sufficient.

Went here this past Monday and loved it. Well I loved what I saw which was a all percentage of the whole area. Spent a load of time at the frog pond trying to get some decent photos. The frogs were all around and didn't mind being photographed. Probably saw like 7 or so. Lovely park with a a wonderful spread of trees, grass, pond, and in between. Has a great boardwalk path on the north side which connects the WPI townhouses (accessible from the sidewalk) to O’Connell field (annoyingly google maps has rejected attempts to add this connection atm).

Really lovely, peaceful park on a sunny afternoon. Not nearly as busy as Elm Park down the street. And not nearly as many "attractions". But if you want quiet open green space, this is the one. Unless there is a picnic or festival going on, that is. It's right by WPI, so there are college students hanging around, passing through to go to class. I just wish there were more sidewalks or pathways. You end up walking through mud to get from one end to the other. There is a new pathway close to the boardwalk, which is very pretty, and has benches to sit on by the pond. I had called the day before to see if I had to make reservations they said no... When I got there my kids could not go on the train because it was sold out... There is a nice lake to walk around with pillars on the opposite side displaying letters written by soldiers in the war to their families back home. They also have a memorial dedicated to the service dogs and their handlers. The landscape is beautiful and there are walking trails surround the park. Looks like they have a number of trails you can go up on and even a few locations you can park. The GPS brought me in at the bottom entry that had a little bit of parking. Overall, I can see how this could be nice to check out. Unfortunately, the water was all dried up, and their was not Cascading Waters, just a dry creek bed. The park is so conveniently located at the junction of Shrewsbury and Worcester. It provides a nice lake view and so many conveniently placed benches and grilling stations. In the morning, the walking path was full of morning walkers. The football ground seemed to be recently renovated. There is a separate pavilion and its own parking and entrance. I can only really speak of the dog park since I only frequent this part of the park, but it's so nice that we drive out a ways, regularly, to this place. They always have bags available if you run out, to pick up your dog's poo. There are stones instead of grass so it wouldn't get muddy. When it's not winter, there is a working double water fountain. The other dog parents are quite nice and many seem to know each other. There are a few benches for seating and a pergola (?) for part shade but the rest of the area is open to the sun/elements. If I could give negative stars I would. We had 9:28 tee time which they thought was a good idea even though there was a huge women’s league before. The course itself is great to play and always in pretty good condition. Like most golf courses now, they have no problem sending tons of groups off to play, but do nothing to ensure a quicker pace once they’re out there. It would be a nice park if it wasn't what seems to be a homeless refuge camp. It was packed with homeless individuals and addicts. I went there with my daughter for a boxing event being offered by the city. We were uneasy and watching over our shoulders the whole time. I've been taking my grandkids to Blithwood Park for years. It has a play area for younger kids and another for older kids. It's always clean, regular upkeep, not too crowded, plenty of free parking, and is fenched in, so no worries about the kiddos wandering off or out into the street. There is a gate surrounding this childrens park that each parent and or adult closes and flips lock up or down to get in and out. Seems like the park dept must come empty 🗑. Was not filled and there was a good amount of people. Inside the gate surrounding inner part of gate is a cement area big enough for strollers and to walk around smoothly. I noticed they have a painted hop scotch area. Very nice clean area and seems like parents are watching out for all kids. There is a covered area with tables and chairs to relax on or have lunch or snack while kids are playing. Outside the gate they have a free book box. People can take a book and or leave a book. Next time i see some childrens books i will bring some for the box.

Great local park with two main trails to follow. The few times I've been here I have parked at the end of Maravista Rd. where there is a turnaround. Not much parking available unfortunately. One trail (blue blazes) follows an old logging road up and over Laurel Mtn. then down to the brook and onward to Sunrise Ave. There is a side trail off this one that leads downhill, over the brook and westward towards the Holden line, blazed with yellow triangles. Along this trail there is a tent platform to camp at. After the platform the trail eventually ends in the woods, couldn't locate anymore blazes to follow.
