Das Hotel liegt in einer sehr schmalen Seitenstrasse, die man als Tourist kaum finden würde. Selbst mein Taxifahrer kannte die Adresse nicht und konnte sie auch nicht im Navi finden. Erst nach einigem Herumfragen und mehreren Anläufen haben wir den Eingang gefunden – also besser vorher ganz genau die Route anschauen. Die Mitarbeiterinnen an der Rezeption waren dafür extrem freundlich, hilfsbereit und motiviert. Beide sprachen sehr gutes Englisch, was in Peking nicht selbstverständlich ist, und haben sich wirklich Mühe gegeben, alles zu erklären. Mein Zimmer (Twin Bed) war für eine Person recht geräumig, aber auf den Fotos sah es etwas schöner aus als in echt. Die Betten sind sehr hart – nach der zweiten Nacht hatte ich Rückenschmerzen. Schlafen geht gut, solange die Nachbarn ruhig sind, aber die Wände sind extrem ringhörig: Man hört jedes Wort vom Gang und auch deutlich die Gäste aus den Nachbarzimmern. Wenn alle schlafen, ist es aber angenehm ruhig. Das Badezimmer ist insgesamt okay, die Dusche ist gross und es gibt genug Warmwasser, auch wenn der Wasserdruck eher schwach ist. Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig ist, dass man kein WC-Papier ins Klo werfen darf, sondern es in einen kleinen Eimer daneben werfen muss. Im Zimmer gab es nur eine kleine Rolle WC-Papier. In meinem Zimmer fiel durch das Fenster im Bad starkes Sonnenlicht von hinten ein, sodass man sich im Spiegel kaum sehen konnte – selbst mit heruntergelassenem Store und eingeschaltetem Licht. Vielleicht ist das in anderen Zimmern besser gelöst. Die Klimaanlage bzw. Heizung funktionierte nur bedingt (es war kalt während meines Aufenthalts). Trotz auf 27 °C eingestellter Heizung blieb das Zimmer in der Nacht sehr kühl und hat sich kaum aufgeheizt. Das WLAN ist grundsätzlich in Ordnung, aber stark schwankend. Manchmal ist der Speed okay, manchmal extrem langsam. Über das WLAN lässt sich die chinesische Internetblockade nicht umgehen – selbst mit VPN funktioniert es fast nie. Nur selten konnte ich überhaupt eine Verbindung herstellen. Wenn es einmal klappte, funktionierten Google, Instagram usw., aber meistens war man komplett blockiert. Das war sehr mühsam, weil man so kaum etwas planen oder recherchieren kann. Ich empfehle daher unbedingt eine eSIM (z. B. über Airalo) zu kaufen – damit sind westliche Webseiten und Apps nicht gesperrt, und man kann mit dem Handy einen Hotspot machen, um auch mit dem Laptop frei ins Internet zu gehen. Im Zimmer gibt es nur einen sehr kleinen Tisch mit einem niedrigen Holzschemel – zum Sitzen extrem unbequem. Länger als ein paar Minuten hält man es dort kaum aus, was schade ist, wenn man z.
