First impression was nice, beautiful decor, friendly staff and the atmosphere was lovely. The food generally was good quality but two of the dishes were a bit too salty. The deer meat was a bit over cooked, not as tender compare to other Michelin restaurant such as Moor Hall. Staff were friendly but lacking interactions. Overall, it’s ok but not outstanding to the standard of a Michelin restaurant should have.

The Art School Restaurant offer an exciting Prix Fixe menu for £55 which looked worth trying, especially as menu options looked very appealing, and decided to go for it. After all this and 45 minutes after we arrived we were asked if we would like tea or coffee, it arrived when the majority of the meal was finished. The food itself was ok but nothing startling, I don’t eat meat but my husband said the ham and mustard sandwiches had that much mustard you couldn’t taste anything else. Room was very clean, we didnt hear anything or see anybody on our floor(5th) Room was quite dark but that was its style. Much better than the experience we had at a well known chain of hotels where we stayed 2 years ago. Would not hesitate to stay at Malmaison again. It's slightly lacking in space but the furniture is organised just right so you can get around it easily with the baby. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, always a positive. I had a delicious halloumi sandwich but there's lots more on the menu, from relatively extensive sandwich options to homemade fare and 2 different platter boards (cheese bread, olives, etc).
