We come to Stratford several times a year to visit the RSC. The Vintner does a set menu, which is excellent for pre-theatre dining. We pre-booked online (would recommend pre booking, especially weekends) & advised of my ND. When we arrived we, they were very busy. They sat us at a table that was near a staircase. It made me feel very uncomfortable, as I felt it was an area of high ‘people traffic’. Hubs asked if there was an alternate table. We were then moved to a different table, & then moved again as they realised the second table was booked by someone else in forty minutes. Our final table was lovely, & by a window, which helps me as it gives me a focus to distract me when I get anxious. Our server was very apologetic & kept asking if we were okay. We reassured her we were. I’m not sure if the notes had transferred from the OpenTable booking app or not, or whether they hadn’t been checked initially. We then ordered our food. We half joked to Matthew about how cool it would be to have a cocktail hour (or 2 and a half) at the best cocktail bar around before our evening reception elsewhere. On the 4th of October, after our ceremony and first photos, we were so surprised & happy to see our names on the board outside, an already buzzing atmosphere serving our guests, beautiful decorations & flowers, with a card and the warmest welcome. Literally everything was taken care of; microphone and equipment for speeches, spaces for photos, soft drinks, ice cold beers and every cocktail went out looking as perfect as the first - truly a well oiled machine, but the team remained so friendly and genuine as well as total professionals throughout. We didn't want to leave! The most perfect environment, atmosphere and people made our day so special and we can't thank Matthew and the entire team enough. Our family & friends also fell in love with Cafe Cocktail and can't wait to return. On our first visit a long time ago I remember saying it felt like such a special place, and it turned out to be super special for us. We have been many times and have never been disappointed. Today we chose salt beef sandwich and a spanakopita toastie with the addition of a home made soup of Tomato and Roasted Red pepper.
