I ate the pakoras and I could instantly tell that the batter contained gluten, the same again with my chicken parmesan. I asked the chef what the chicken is coated with he told me it’s "gluten free Texas rub", I had to ask him again to confirm whether the packaging states there is no gluten, he said it says its gluten free, I asked him to bring the packet so I can check for myself. The chef came back and said "it is gluten free it’s just Texas’s flour mix", which I then had to tell a CHEF that flour is gluten- extremely unprofessional and shocking, I lost complete trust in this restaurant from this moment! Not sure what chef school he gradated from. He then said “the packaging said its gluten free but its not on there anymore” as if it had magically disappeared. I then asked one of the “main” staff whether the batter for the pakoras was gluten free, he tried to play it off and said he’s on the phone to his brother who has told him the flour they use is gluten free- they even told me the name of the flour which is Goldstar, who do not have a gluten free range. I educated the guy regarding this and he was going back & fourth with his brother on the phone, adamant the batter is gluten free, he then said he will get the full name and picture of the flour they use- an hour later before we left I asked for the information, he said his brother didn’t get back to him. How convenient. The staff tried to play smart & lied about a number of things thinking we wouldn’t fact check. One of the staff also said "the guy you spoke to isn’t the chef, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, he’s just a service man", which is odd because the “chef” came over to our table personally and told us he is the chef and it’s his name on the line if anything happens, so it shows they were just trying to cover his back and play dumb. Im sorry but you can’t brush off something that is life-threatening, ever since I have eaten gluten from this restaurant I have had severe pains, my stomach has been the most bloated it has ever been in my life, I am completely traumatised and have lost all my trust in this restaurant & the staff. I now have had to take an unpaid sick day off from work because of the carelessness of the chef and it’s workers. Lastly, the food. The food is tasteless. My sister ordered samosa chaat, it was a frozen Shazan samosa with channa covered in curry sauce. I’ve never seen anything like it, my mouth dropped when I saw this. The cheese on the parmesan was overpowering & my sisters burger was left untouched because the chicken was so dry! We also ordered karak chai, I’m a massive fan of chai & I have never known for someone to get karak chai sooo wrong, ever. It tasted like it had gone off. Worst restaurant experience in my 24 years of living, I am an avid foodie and have never witnessed OR experienced anything like this!
