For $25, the waffles were a great portion size, presented beautifully and was overall a 10/10 meal. The team at Fred’s sure do know how to make a good sammie! Totally understand why there is always a massive line and people crowding out the door. I ordered the chicken sandwich which contained a deep fried panko and togarashi chicken schnitzel, iceberg lettuce and pickle mayo on GF bread, which I subbed from their classic white loaf (personal preference). The crumb on the chicken was phenomenal! The exterior was perfectly crispy, the thick chunk of chicken was succulent and juicy, and the strong spice from the togarashi paired perfectly with the cool, fresh pickle mayo. It was giving KFC but healthy and one billion times tastier. They also use high quality Thoroughbread GF bread which is the only GF bread I’ve tried that doesn't have crusty/hard edges when untoasted. The ratios of everything were perfect for me and overall it was very filling and a good balanced lunch. From the homey decor and the spacious upstairs, to the wonderful staff members, coming to this restaurant was such an experience. My mum and I came here to celebrate an anniversary dinner. The place is absolutely gorgeous giving a unique Turkish presence and vibe. Place is clean and tidy. Lots of rooms for customers to dine in. You can see everything that’s happening in the kitchen. Staffs are welcoming. They have two electronic self ordering kiosks that are easy to navigate which has pictures for every menu. Food was amazing. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. The shish lamb was a stunner. So tender and juicy. 😋 Food presentation was top notch as well. I was very impressed by that given this type of cuisine. The price is far too reasonable based on my overall experience. Would love to come again although I’m not living in Wellington.
