Tuition is certainly avaliable (but extremely popular) 5 days a week* and is encouraging for beginners and juniors. Outside of golf, the club is quite friendly and is well staffed. The bar offers a selection of local beers as well as your regular soft drinks or wines, paired with a nice bistro offering burgers and other pub-esque food. Also worth mentioning is the abundance of friendly dog walkers, who are often seen on the edges of the course alongside the river. Marrickville also offers some other social clubs, and is affiliated with a few organisations in the cooks river region. I have also noticed some problems with the course matinence, mentioned by numerous other reviews. After investigation, the greens have been affected by a disease which wasn't able to be controlled due to the covid pandemic affecting greens staff. They are on the mend and hopefully will be at full health soon. There are also abnormal course conditions around, which is due to the prevailing rain. Some teeboxes are also synthetic grass, which I assume is due to preserve them for competition and not be ruined by social golfers too much, they still function as tee boxes though. All in all, Marrickville Golf Club is a very diverse and charming environment welcome to all sorts of golfers, and is very LGBTQ+ friendly too! As a local club servicing members, it does the job and acts as a place to hang out with mates as well. Membership is also quite cheap and is adjusted on a pro-rata basis.
