This is my second time visiting this place and the food is amazing. Have ordered famous “Wellington on a plate” burger where you pull out a bone from the meat that’s inside the burger and it was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while.
Have also ordered peach mojito cocktails (2 for 1 deal) which were lovely as well - not too sweet which is great!
Staff was nice and a nice atmosphere but can get a bit cramped with small tables and how close they are to each other.

It’s not often that a restaurant lives up to the hype, but this one absolutely did. On a Monday afternoon, I found myself at one of Wellington’s most talked-about dining spots, and by 1:30 p.m., the place was buzzing with an energetic office crowd.
We began with the Summer Rolls and Pork Belly Bao, both setting the tone for what was to come. For mains, the Char-Grilled Chicken and Pork Belly Salad hit all the right notes. Honestly, the menu made decision-making a struggle, everything sounded tempting.
Though we couldn’t manage dessert this time, it’s safe to say we’ll be back — and soon. A big shoutout to the front-of-house team and to the kitchen for crafting a memorable lunch that proves why this spot remains one of Wellington’s must-visit restaurants.

The restaurant was so popular that number of people were waiting even before it opened. It seemed like they were specializing in fusion cuisine, so I didn't expect much. I ordered Beef Pho, and it was surprisingly good. The people I went with also tried a variety of dishes, and most were very satisfied. I was highly surprised to discover the new venue, really nice atmosphere full of vibe and good service
The overall was great. Like anything it's always room for improvement like maybe having the lighting more of the soft side. Besides that I think the venue is beautiful perfect for a date out.

My favourite was the Chicken really tasty. The beef was a bit on the "too cook" side I would prefer it less cook and more tender. The taste of that curry was delicious.
The peanuts on the pork roll were really yummy I should have keep them for the other dishes.
Our experience was really pleasant. I'll recommend this place for any type of celebration, special day or a date out.

We went for dinner without a reservation on a Friday. Friendly reception and they found us a 2 person table with high chairs at the bar area. We ordered a dish called 'shaking beef' ($42), 'salmon parcels' ($17) and 'chicken spring rolls' ($17) and one portion of rice noodles ($4). The food was excellent, great mix of flavors. We tried the Burger Wellington chicken, and it was excellent full of flavour and definitely worth recommending. Unfortunately, the iced coffee was a real letdown. The menu mentioned condensed milk, but it was clear there wasn’t any the drink tasted flat and disappointing.

Passed by the restaurant during a food tour and I was told that they had a burger entry in a competition, which wasn’t available for order. So I settled on the spring roll and beef pho. It’s hard to get fried spring rolls terribly wrong, and fortunately, they didn’t. The pho, on the other hand, was pretty bad in terms of the clumpy noodles (which got better as I left it in the bowl longer), bland broth and lack of herbs. The only saving grace was the beef, which was tender enough.

Our experience at Rock Yard was absolutely fantastic. Shoutout to our waitress (Phong - hope I spelled it correctly). She was super attentive and friendly. The food was so tasty and the overall atmosphere was really cool.
We shared the fried spring rolls and the vegetarian summer roles. As a main we had the chicken and tofu&mushroom curry. All of it was delicious, the curry was really one of the best I've ever had.
Highly recommend going to Rock yard if you look for an outstanding Vietnamese restaurant in Wellington.

Rock Yard was the perfect choice for my friend and I for a quick pre-show meal. The menu has a really good range to suit all appetites. We stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for a place to eat and we were so pleased we did! The staff were very friendly. They have their own Le Saigon lager on tap which was okay. Never fails to amaze me how they always, and consistently get the food flavours on point. Been coming here for the last couple of times and it's always been great atmosphere and team but the food is out of this world. Everything in the menu is packed with flavor and you can't seem to go wrong with anything. Everything taste like it's a family traditional meal that you take a bite out of. Always fresh, and ingredients are used beautifully.
The mini pancakes, freshly cooked Spring rolls (I can actually live on these for life if it was the only food left in the world), the fresh and tasty salads, the noodle meals, the Pho's, literally everything in the menu is a meal that is waiting to have a party in mouth!

We had a great night at Le Saigon! The food was absolutely spot on—fresh, flavourful, and plenty of variety to suit everyone at the table. Big thumbs up for the gluten-free and vegetarian options too, which made it easy for our group to order without fuss.

An enjoyable and whimsical visit on a VERY busy Wellington Friday night. We were downtown during ‘Wellington On A Plate” and having trouble finding a table. Saigon was able to sit us straight away, and they filled up shortly after.
The wait staff were pleasant, but were quite busy juggling upstairs and downstairs diners, so they forgot about our water and we had to wave them down to place our order. We also ordered spring rolls that never turned up. The food was nice, well presented with authentic tastes. The ribs weren’t incredible, but they weren’t bad. I recently visited this bustling restaurant tucked away in a lively part of town, and despite its discreet signage, it’s well worth seeking out. It’s located right next to The Shady Lady Bar and Night Club so keep an eye out, as you might miss it until you’re right in front of the door.
This place is clearly in high demand, always buzzing with activity. I had made a reservation several days in advance, and even then, it was challenging to secure a table in my preferred area the courtyard. Fortunately, the staff went out of their way to accommodate my request and managed to reserve a cozy spot for two. Their customer service was outstanding from start to finish.
I was especially impressed by how organized their reservation process was. They sent timely reminder emails and even followed up for confirmation the day before our booking, something I really appreciated.
Now, onto the food: everything we ordered was served warm and full of flavor. The sticky pork belly was a standout, easily one of the best I’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the pork dumplings and the Katsu Sando, all beautifully presented and equally delicious. To finish, we shared the Vietnamese mousse, which was the perfect end to a fantastic meal.

Food was awesome, we really enjoyed the dishes we ordered. The tuna and the popcorn chicken were highlights for us. However, we came in on a first table which only allows for 1.5 hours yet it took 20 minutes to be seen for a drink at which we then had to ask to order food as well. Clearing our plates took awhile which exceeded our 1.5 hour time slot, had it not been a quieter Monday and had they needed the table back we would barely have had time to finish our mains let alone order dessert (which we would recommend as the doughnuts were delicious). One of the few eateries that are open on a Monday as many in Petone and Lower Hutt are often closed. We’ve been here multiple times and they are often busy and turnaround is quick. Family run and your orders get taken promptly and dished out with minimal wait times. Food is always consistent and generous. Dropped by Vietnamese restaurant in Petone, I order bun Bo hue at pretty much every single Vietnamese restaurant I go to.
It's one of the few places still serving at 2pm and this was my lunch break.
The place was very unassuming, nothing fancy, just standard Vietnamese restaurant, my portion size was quite decent as you can see in the photo, the flavour was not very strong, on the mild side, I needed a lot of sauce to add more flavour, however, there were so many pieces of meat, I was very impressed with the portion size! Great authentic food & service here! The best pho I’ve had in Wellington. The beef soup is rich and has visible meat particles (which I actually prefer than fully clear) and loads of noodles, vegetables and meat. I really liked the brisket and rare beef. Excellent value too.
The service was okay, a bit inconsistent and sometimes difficult to get staff attention, as they never seem to have enough service staff. The viet ice coffee was very very strong, and for some reason was served half full in a Tuatara beer glass? I hear the mango mocktail was good also. The popcorn chicken was alright, a bit dry however crispy and sauce was good.
I love their table sauce range, 3 types of spicy sauces! Chilli oil, Chin-Su and sriracha. All really good and unique. Great for changing up the profile of a bowl of regular pho.

The food is delicious, I've tried a bunch and each item has been amazing. Really quick to come out too even when with a slightly larger group.

Starting with the burger, one of the best chicken burgers this season I’ve tried. One thing other places can’t master is the level of tanginess of the dish. Where’s Charlie perfectly executed this balance. The cream cheese wonton on top was so yum as well, definitely need this in the menu if haven’t. Fries were cooked perfectly, and prawn crackers were just a tad bit greasy but the whole dish makes up for it.
Salad is always reliable, the meats are always cooked and seasoned to perfection. YUM!
The lady serving us she kept checking up on us. She was very genuine and attentive to our response when we were asked how the burger was.
Not many places do this, but I think it’s got to do with aesthetic purposes. No problem. But sever happily accepted when we asked her to cut it in half. She’s so lovely.

And the final insult - the raw onion ensured the bad taste would stay in my mouth for the rest of the day.
My advice to other Wellington On A Platers - only get this if you think a can of Coke Zero is worth $28.

I was keen to try some of the food especially the Pho.
I ordered a small beef Pho for $10, popcorn chicken for $5 and two deep fried spring rolls for $6 ($3 each).

We were guests here last week. Actually wanted to take our food to go, but had to eat it on the spot, otherwise it would have been more expensive?! Apparently because of the larger to-go portion, but still illogical. Anyways, the ambience of the restaurant is unpleasant. Loud vietnamese music and a strong smell of gas.
I had the Grilled Chicken & Noodle. I took a couple of forks and then left it. It was lovelessly arranged, without flavour, pink chicken. The "sauce" was weird, watery, simply not tasty. The waitress saw that I almost didn't touch the plate, but didn't seem to be interested in asking if it was tasty. My boyfriend's udon noodles with beef were good, but the portion was far too small for the price. We paid $30 and were still hungry afterwards and had to get something else. All in all, a miserable restaurant experience. Would absolutely not recommend.

I had their Vegetable & Tofu Roti Roll for breakfast at the Harbourside Market — sensational! I highly recommend this vegetarian dish.
The roti was toasted, chewy, and crispy! The tofu was a sliced deep fried firm tofu, seriously tasty. This was all rolled up with a fresh salad and coriander. There were two or three sauces. The highlight was the thinned hoisin sauce, which coated everything to the bottom.
It was a satisfying portion but if you enjoy a bit more food getting two would be excellent and still cheaper than other food items at the market!
As of 12/03/23 the Vegetable with Tofu Roti Roll was $8.00! Absolute bargain!
