We enjoyed dining here very much! We first came here on a tour with Omar and then came back for lunch. The setting is gorgeous in the middle of a garden. You have chickens running around under your feet and it’s quite endearing while we were here. One of the staff lit up some leaves and walked the smoking leaves all through the restaurant in a ceremonial manner. We only had a couple of dishes for lunch but they were delicious and had great portions.

The food is a mix of creativity, native flavours and innovation.
You are in for a treat when it comes to the drinks and food.
The 6 course meal begins very strong with some of the most amazing apatizers I've ever had. Everything is thoughtfully put together and arrives fresh and warm.
The only disappointment of this meal was the workers serving it. They aren't excited about the ingredients, they seem rehersed when talking about the complexity of each dish. It's a shame to have a kitchen work so hard on this incredible meal, and have very dry personalities precenting it.
The staff was just not friendly at all. You feel like you are intruding by being there.
At one point we poked our heads to check out the amazing bar. We were given uncomfortable looks.
This would have been a good opportunity for someone to invite us over to the bar on a different occasion or explained more of the concept.
We went when the restaurant was quiet and had only a few other tables. They had a lot of staff standing around.
I think that with an incredible menu you need to have people who are also passionate about precenting it to you.

それから昼飯を食べるなら此処で充分でしょう。北側にあるMercado Juárez と違ってレストランばかりが集中しているし適当に店を選んで適当に注文すればそんなに外れなく食事ができます。特別な良い料理が食べたい人は他の口コミを見ていただいて、お腹を満たして直ぐに次の行動に移りたい人には手ごろです。

メルカド内にレストランがたくさんあるので、ランチを食べに行きました。モーレのお店があったのでモーレネグロやタコス、エンチェラーダをいただきました。モーレは初体験でしたが、様々なスパイスの風味が楽しめて美味しかったです。曜日や時間帯によっては混雑するのかもしれませんが、ピークをはずせば割とゆっくり食事できます。
レストランが数多く集まるメルカド。費用を安く抑えたい人はもちろんですが、オアハカにきたのであればぜひ寄っていただきたい場所です。

そこそこの値段で地元ご飯を食べられるエリアと肉を食べられるエリアがある。ぼったくられることもないし、味にも大差はないと思うので賑わっているところにいくか気に入った客引きについていけばいいと思う。

Overall great atmosphere and drinks. We didn’t eat food, but this place did come recommended by many. It was our second favourite cocktail bar in Oaxaca, but still highly recommend visiting for the delicious drinks, large bar offering and service. Warm and welcoming staff who provide excellent service during the stay. The property is modern with an excellent aesthetic. Try the cenote!!! The rooms are spacious though be careful with your ankles and shins by the bed, easy to trip over the extended wood. Televisions are borderline worthless as you can't cast to them, but when you are in such a wonderful city you don't need television at all anyway.

The hotel has great access to everything in town. Very walkable. Mayra at the front desk was a delight. Really sweet and friendly every time we saw her. Christian at the restaurant was also great. Really great service all around. We enjoyed interacting with the hotel staff, even housekeeping was kind and attentive. An incredible location in Oaxaca centro close to everything! The architecture and experience are gorgeous and one of a kind. There was construction happening above the reception area which woke us up around 8am, but the [beautiful] church bells go off even earlier so it didn’t really bother us. The view from the roof is worth every penny! My wife enjoyed her massage, and we both enjoyed the cenote experience (FYI it’s cold water). Also, be advised there are no elevators. Some people are shocked when they discover that. The roof is three stairwells up. Overall amazing experience and we would most definitely come back. Thank you Otro!

While it was physically attractive (as was the hotel), the bathroom part of the spa was substandard for paying near US prices. I booked with the confidence that Grupo Habita stood for human, professional service — but my experience was the complete opposite. Due to a personal emergency, I attempted to cancel 30 hours before my reservation. There were no clear cancellation policies on the website or in my confirmation email, and despite three promises from the staff to call me back “within 15 minutes,” no one ever followed through.
To make matters worse, the front desk receptionist was noticeably arrogant and dismissive, showing zero empathy for the situation.

If you are looking to get a genuine, ancestral Oaxacan dishes, made on live fire Almu is an awesome experience. Its off the grid of touristy area but its a nice walk to get there. Menu is hand written and they have different option for lunch and main dinner options start at 1pm. We were there for lunch and our server Louis was very nice explaining to us what is in the menu. You can literally see how the food is made and tortillas are made fresh in front of your eyes. They also have great drinks with mezcal and local beers. We had tlayudas, memelas, and enchiladas with three different mole sauces. The food was so good !! Definitely a must visit in Oaxaca!!

When traveling I rarely go back to the same place twice, but after a stellar dinner we ended up back at Labo for lunch before our departure flight.

We were lucky enough to dine at Labo Fermento which this came to be one of greatest food experiences of our gastronomic trip to Oaxaca! The food was impeccably executed! Served with the utmost of pride, merging their Oaxacan heritage with Asian elements and creating some of the most joyful of dishes I’ve experienced in a long time. Fermantion is at the center of this dining experience, whether it’s milk fermenting local vegetables, homemade amazake to their ingenious kombucha made from local mais, this restaurant has everything.
Me and my wife were so impressed of the range of this place that we went back two days later. Every time we were greeted and catered with the utmost of warmth and respect from the staff. So much has been learnt regarding the different techniques used with their cooking. The amount of passion the chefs & staff have for their craft is something one does not come across often nowadays.
I cannot rate Labo highly enough. This is a staple in the making and hope that we’ll be able to return to Oaxaca soon to see what else they’ve been cooking up. Simply brilliant.

When I first heard of La Cocina De Humo through NYT’s, “36 Hours in Oaxaca,” I approached the recommendation with a healthy dose of skepticism. Will it deliver on the promise of good traditional Oaxacan food in an authentic kitchen? Will it be burdened or worse, made complacent, by the expectations of North American tourist lore - NYT, Eva Longoria’s travel show? And finally, will it be approachable for a young couple not particularly looking for fine dining? As I stepped into the quaint, spacious courtyard, populated with the proudly displayed Oaxacan earthen cookware, I felt my anxieties slip away, and I was home.
Our chef and host for the evening welcomed us into a cosy dining room plus open kitchen, where all the ingredients for our dinner were laid out for us to see. She quickly got to work, stoking the wood-fired oven, rolling out the tortillas, mashing the tomatillos and chiles for the salsa - seemingly all at once.
We’re vegetarian, and for the first time in a while, we felt like our dietary preferences were truly catered to, not obliged. The food? It was spread out over 7 courses, packed with flavor, fresh, and surprisingly light on the stomach. We had a tomato potato soup, tortillas with castillo and mole, quesadillas with cheese and beans, squash prepared simply with tomatoes, garlic, and chile, and finally, arroz con leche with mango. The drinks were gorgeous - The agua/leche con maíz surpassed the Salvadoran horchata for me, which is saying a lot. I could taste the smokiness and mild sweetness from the toasted corn and cinnamon in every sip. I’ll dream about it for a long time.
La Cocina De Humo is not a restaurant, it’s a unique dining experience, one that I’ll hopefully get to enjoy again.

This is a truly amazing experience. A few things to note:
- The option is for cooking class or where one of the chefs will cook “for” you explaining the provenance / importance of the ingredients and a bit of the history
- The aim is to be as close to true as possible of a Oaxacan kitchen - particularly in the rural areas.
- The food is delicious just different than what many expect. The ingredients and method are the star. We left incredibly full and learnt a tonne.
