We can't fault the staff who were really friendly especially the young guy who checked us in. But the rooms are extremely basic and as mentioned by other reviews they have cobwebs, and are not particularly clean. Our first night after having a lovely meal out we decided to try to go to sleep around 11.30pm as we were out early morning after breakfast for a spot of fishing on the river, however the music was pounding till 1 am . This was unbearable...and if we had 3 hours sleep that was it. Breakfast was ok, but we decided to pack up and leave a day early. This place is very tired, and needs a complete refurb. I strongly advise not to stop here especially if you actually want to sleep! I don't understand how they are getting away with this late night noise pollution especially in such a beautiful, stunning location, I hope they get done for it very soon. Don't waste your money staying here...there are other clean,. friendly and very quiet places away from this hole. This is no reflection on the staff who we found very friendly and worked extremely hard.. but obviously a management problem. Also forgot to mention that our bathroom which was over a hallway had no place to hang out towels to dry and also the doors were very noisy to go to the loo in the night. Generally a really bad experience.. avoid!!

Highlights were the very helpful and pleasant staff members. I cannot fault anything about their service. Breakfast had a great selection and the cooked self service breakfast I had was very tasty. I do wonder if one more person working the breakfast area would have made a difference in terms of tables being cleared and reset for next guests. Some of the tables in the restaurant areas were past their best with veneer peeling or totally absent leaving them looking tired and a bit grubby. Some of the chairs in the lobby area were marked a stained and could do with a deep clean or replacement. The three star overall score is as a result of the room, in terms of attention to detail for cleanliness (stains on curtains, massive cobwebs in corners of room, and dust and hair in corners on the bathroom floor. The shower area needed a larger screen or closing door as each time the shower was used it flooded the floor in the bathroom which was not ideal. Otherwise I definitely don't think it's worth the money. Check in was exceptionally slow & not everyone was given details about the leisure centre when checking in. We didn't realise we had to book a slot for the pool which was pretty much fully booked the whole first day we were there. This is the worst ever hotel I have ever booked, and sadly I was with my child. The first shock was realizing there was just one staff on duty. We could have turned back, but we didn’t anticipate what was ahead. The next blow was the manager informing us the central heating system wasn’t functioning (this was during fall by the way), but that he would come with a portable heater since we had a (one-year old) child. He knocked our door several minutes later, only to inform us that there were no portable heaters and we should make do with extra blankets. I just knew we were in hell at that point. We all had to sleep with our cardigans on, but the room was so cold that it didn’t help. My child and I came down with a cold overnight. Our nostrils were blocked. We had runny nose and my child struggled to breathe for days. The room was also damp. Made a silent prayer hoping there were no hidden moulds that could have compromised our immune system. Lift of course was out of order and we had to walk several miles to our room. Also, don’t even think of having breakfast. Poorly maintained hotel despite its potentials. Never ever ever again. They did offer 10% off next booking! but it ran out the end of the month we stayed ... no chance!

The room was full of fabulous treats (cake, wine, biscuits, coffee, tea and juice) plus water and toiletries. Shower was lovely, hot and powerful.
