Tafarn Morlais is back - and it's worth the wait!
During our usual Thursday walk through Langennech, we stopped by the Tafarn Morlais to see what was happening with the pub that's been empty for months. We met the new landlords Mitch and Sophie, who explained they've been working hard to address some significant issues left by the previous operators. They were clearly determined to get things right, and when they mentioned Saturday would be their first evening service with the new menu, we booked a table for our extended family
What a difference a passionate team makes. Our party of six plus a young baby had an excellent evening. Chef Wes delivered quality across the board - the rump steak on volcanic stone was of high quality from Howells Butchers of Penclawdd, the Thai hanging kebabs were full of flavour, the garlic mushroom chicken hit the mark, and the cheeseburger was genuinely good.
The service stood out particularly. The team conducted regular check-backs throughout all courses without being intrusive, striking that difficult balance between attentive and overbearing. Having worked as a mystery diner for several companies, I can say with confidence that both the service and food quality would have scored highly in any professional assessment.
What impressed us most was the team's genuine interest in feedback. They actively sought out what was working well and where they might improve - the kind of approach that shows real commitment to getting it right.
It's clear that Mitch, Sophie and their team are putting serious effort into bringing this local pub back to standard. Like any reopening, they're working through the inevitable early challenges, but the foundation is solid. The food quality is there, the service standards are high, and most importantly, they care about doing it properly.
A proper local pub run by people who understand what that means to a community. They deserve the support, and based on our experience, they've earned it.

I thought I would leave a review as we have not visited for a while and could see new owners were trying to get it established. What can I say what fantastic food!! All freshly cooked to order, even making a meal for a fussy eater that was not on the menu. What lovely people made us feel super welcome and when they knew it was my birthday and my husbands birthday the following day they came out singing with some gorgeous chocolate cake. On the upside service was good very attentive did seem like a ship without a captain to be honest front of house could have done with some direction but waitress was very pleasant and helpful.
Nice atmosphere though just think simplify whst your doing and you'll be ok. lava stone is a good idea to take pressure off back of house during busy periods but for gimics to work the rest of the food has to be right .

I recently visited The Bridge in Llangennech and had a great evening. The starter of Asian belly pork was delicious, cooked to perfection with plenty of flavour. I also enjoyed a refreshing guest pale ale which made a nice addition to the meal. For the main, the peppercorn chicken was tender and served with a rich, creamy sauce that really stood out. Have been here many times, normally around 5-10 times per year. If you love good food and quality service this is the place for you and fair and reasonable price. The carvery is one of the best I have had and everytime I go there the quality hasn't changed, only for the better. Staff are accommodating and friendly and will help quickly if you need anything. Often times when we go we see and have the pleasure of having Nicky as our waiter and he is always so warm and welcoming and truly respectful to customers. The food was amazing, every dish was full of flavour and cooked perfectly.
The place itself has a really special feel a cavern with a great atmosphere.

Ive often enjoyed my visits to this establishment. Yesterday however was not what I have come to expect. Food quality is at a reasonable standard with a good variety to choose from. The staff are polite and friendly and happily assist you when needed. The atmosphere however was sub par. They seem to have sacrificed quality for quantity and crammed as many tables into the pub as possible leaving very little room for any flexibility of movement and the noise levels made it impractical to hold conversations whilst having our meals. It was practically impossible to get from the hot plate to my table without bumping into several tables along the way which makes for awkward encounters when people are half way through eating their meals. If you have visual impairment or mobility issues it's likely you will struggle to navigate your way around. In fairness however when making the reservation I had not stated that our company had people with mobility issues (not wheelchair bound) and visual impairment (blind in one eye and mild cataracts in the other). Therefore they were not sufficiently prepared for our arrival. Overall food good, staff lovely, surrounding area extremely cramped and overly loud.

The restaurant's decor is lovely and very clean. Staff are welcoming and the food is delicious. They have set menu for 2 or 3 courses that's a great price but can order from the main menu.

A lovely bistro, on the beautiful Millennium Coast Walk along Llanelli beach. The food was very good. I had a Caesar Salad, the first one I can remember having in the UK, where they actually include anchovies. Nice looking homemade cakes, and a booth selling delicious gelato outside.
The staff were friendly and quick to serve and clear tables during the busy lunch rush, leaving no one waiting.
This is no Michelin restaurant, but good freshly prepared food, at reasonable prices, in a lovely setting.

The cost of the food was definitely reflective of the quality as every meal had was delicious and of a high standard. I would highly recommend their homemade gelato!

Second time we have visited this year for the carvery. 4 vegans/veggies and two fussy teens so an awkward group 😁 Staff couldn't do enough for us and made separate vegan mash, parsnips, gravy and sausages for us, plus chips for my son! The food is seasoned well, very tasty lots of choice and lots of it. Price is great too.

First off , unless you get there early it will be almost impossible to get a seat but you may be lucky. Parking is not great as there is a small car park right outside which is shared with a hairdressing salon. As I was finishing most of my breakfast, a fly flew straight into my coffee ( there were a couple of fly's near the window)
I took the full cup of coffee up to the counter and pointed to the fly and asked if it was possible if I could have a fresh cup as I hadn't touched the coffee.
Immediately the waitress said, yes, but I'll have to charge you for it.
I was slightly taken back by her response.
So I ordered another cup @ £3.50 reluctantly.
It came out boiling hot again, so managed to drink a few mouthfuls as my friends were all finished with their food and drink.
So basically I spent £7 on half a coffee.
I've never left a cafe feeling so deflated.
It wasn't my fault a fly in their cafe flew into my full coffee!!
I won't ever be returning.
Although I will say the cafe looked lovely with very impressive cakes on display, and most of the time the waitress was very friendly.

Early morning visit at 5.15am was very different to late night, the restaurant tables were soiled, staff had used both disabled parking spaces I assume as the restaurant and car park were empty, but table service was friendly and efficient.

I have visited this McDonalds several times in the past, it’s not bad overall but could do a lot better. It can be a bit hit and miss as to whether you leave happy with the whole experience.
Some issues I’ve encountered with this McDonald’s:
1. Most branches have now changed to self service order screens, which is fine in theory as it frees up some staff. The issues start when it gets busy, and it does get extremely busy at this branch, especially with the added pressure of online food delivery drivers. People are left huddled around the screens with no clear idea of where to stand or who is next to order.
2. They don’t check the paper for the receipts regularly enough, so unless you’re very quick and take note of your order number you’re left bewildered and have to seek out a member of staff.
3. There is only one manned till for cash payments. I’ve needed to use it several times and had to shout a hello to get attention. On one occasion I had staff look up then ignore me.
4. They haven’t got enough drive through parking bays; this causes backlogs going around the one way system especially when customers park inconsiderately. This also results in delays while staff are trying to deliver the food. This happened on my last visit which resulted in a very cold meal, not ideal.
5. Waiting times, as I’ve already mentioned, this branch can get extremely busy. I’ve waited 40 minutes on one occasion and I’m regularly asked to park up and wait for my order. If you have somewhere to be and just want to grab something quickly it’s difficult to predict how much time to allow for this.
6. Staff can be a mixed bunch too, some being very enthusiastic and others being quite rude. I’ve also had the card reader shoved in my face at the drive through while they spoke to someone else.
7. In the past I’ve driven away and realised too late that they had messed my order up, so now I check each time.

Very very rarely go to KFC and after my recent visit to this restaurant with my family, I won't be returning. We ordered the party bucket, noticed a part of the deal (chicken wings) was missing so went to inform a member of staff and they tried explaining it was in the bucket. The chips were luke warm at best and the rissoles was rock hard on the outside and the inside just crumbled into tiny dry pieces, plus’s it was stone cold. I was really disappointed when visiting yesterday (Saturday 16/08/25 ) of the female staffs response. I asked if they had cheese rissoles, which are lovely and what we usually have. Fair enough as when told no if they have sold out! But when I asked what else they had vegetarian the young lad said about another option! They do not send deliveries out when ready, they are sat there done up getting cold, waiting for them to get more orders in the same area before sending them.
