Back in 2019 I visited for the first time and had the french toast with maple syrup and bacon. I believe they either use to offer this all day (which they don't anymore, only for breakfast up until 12pm) or I asked and they said I could order it for lunch as they were not too busy (which they might be happy to do again, especially if asked in advance) I ordered this without the cheese and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had very kindly taken £1.50 off the price for not having the cheese which is a rarity for cafes/restaurants to do! Occasionally they have got my orders wrong, one time I ordered a panini without cheese and had to send it back as it had cheese in, and when we had the sausage rolls the other day both me and my partner did ask for these to be without the salad garnish and they both came with it, but they have always been apologetic for any mistakes made and take the food back without any issues or fuss and corrects it for us. Tall Orders is always a good shout when needing to stop for lunch and the food quality is always top notch. Wetherspoons was packed and we couldn't get a table so we found Mariners place. It is a very traditional cafe which is clean and inviting. The staff were friendly and attentive too. The food was freshly cooked with good sized portions and we'll cooked. Most of us had the fish and chips with a large mug of tea. The fish was perfectly cooked with thin crispy batter. The chips were some of the best I had eaten which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. What impressed me is that they were not greasy at all.
