As freezing rain and ice pummeled the region for over 30 hours, this incredible owl spread her wings, literally, shielding each of her owlets beneath them. She took the full force of the storm, never once abandoning her young. Eventually, a massive chunk of ice struck her unconscious. She was rescued by an arborist, and I helped rush the owlets to The Owl Foundation. Sadly, their brave mother didn’t survive. She died a true hero. The photos I’ve shared are of her and her babies, images I captured before she left this earth. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who witnessed her story. As a person with mobility issues, I appreciated how well maintained the trail was and how easy it was to move around. The scenery is gorgeous and the boardwalk allows you to literally get into the middle of nature. My friend ordered an iced latte and even from the colour you can tell it would be bad! It tasted like milky water, and my macchiato was not made properly, with watery espresso topped with foam. I apologized to the waitress and said everything was bad, and she said she was following the recipes and apologized as well. I said I just wanted to leave and I’ll pay for the drinks but I refused to pay for the salad.
