This is our third time visiting Diesel Cafe over the past three years. We were thoroughly impressed the first time, visiting during Oktoberfest and having great food with beer. The second and third times, we tried the coffee and it's decent with good food. This last time, Chicken Schnitzel got an Indian twist, decent flavours enjoyed in pasta and lemon chicken. The cold brew, however was underwhelming and we would not recommend it.
One recommendation to the cafe is to change the music they're blasting now. A softer variant would suit a cafe atmosphere. We had to talk above the music to be heard across the table.
Overall, Diesel cafe is cozy and recommended to visit.

Our 3rd visit here. We always come to diesel cafe whenever we're in Mangalore. The service is slow (we're from Mumbai) but we appreciate that they take their time to get the food out. I ordered Vietnamese noodles as I expected Vietnamese noodles are not spicy.And I like Vietnamese food .
When I ordered this menu ,I confirmed that dont put any red chilly and chilly powder,we can’t eat spicy food just in case too.
The staff said OK.

We ate some .We left 80% of them.
But my stomach was burning and felt sick after coming back .

Had breakfast here in this popular restaurant in kodialbail, Mangalore. Near to passport office about 100m away . We had breakfast here at 11am and the restaurant is quite busy and have sufficient seating arrangements. We ordered 1 plate buns, plain dosa and seera and tea. Buns and dosa is not at all good with high price. Here the rate of a one buns is 40rs and it is not worth . And tea is good but price is too high ( 40 rupees per cup) . Seera( kesaribath) is good and tasty and worth the price. Staffs are good and parking facilities available outside.
Atlast the price of the food is too high and it is not the worth of the food quality and taste .

Once again, Google suggested another lip-smacking breakfast spot, this time at Kodialbail, Mangalore — and it turned out to be a delightful find.
It’s a medium-sized restaurant with ample seating space, perfect for families and travellers looking for a relaxed breakfast without the rush.
We ordered a range of iconic coastal breakfast dishes, including Moode Idli, Mangalore Buns, Neer Dosa, Bisc Rotti, Pathrode, Patholi, Masala Dosa, and Plain Dosa, all paired with their strong South Indian filter coffee.
It was our first time trying Moode Idli, Pathrode, and Patholi, and each dish offered something unique. The Moode Idli and Patholi were the highlights — soft, aromatic, and full of authentic local flavour. Pathrode tasted quite different — a leaf-based steamed snack with a slight momo-like texture. It might not appeal to everyone, but it’s definitely worth trying once for the experience.
The Bisc Rotti felt somewhat similar to a Rajasthani Kachori — crispy but mild in flavour. The only letdown was the Mangalore Buns, which didn’t quite match the authentic sweetness and texture we expected.
Overall, it was a memorable local breakfast experience that introduced us to several traditional Mangalorean delicacies. Don’t miss the strong filter coffee — it perfectly complements the flavours of these coastal snacks.

I stay at the Ocean Pearl near Navabharath circle every time I visit Mangalore. It's very centrally located and it saves time while going around the city. The thing that brings me back however, is the service.
Restaurants to housekeeping, I have enjoyed fantastic service. They have an great eye for detail and any minor deficiency is addressed within minutes.
I will edit this post to add more staff members that provided great service but for today it is Ms. Nagaveni from the house keeping team. She is awesome with some great talent. She always cleans the room spotlessly and what I like the most about her is that she always does something extra. We stayed in The Ocean Pearl for 6 nights on our trip to Mangalore. And honestly we were delighted with our overall experience right from the rooms, service and delicious food available at the hotel. I highly recommend people to choose this hotel as it is an absolute value for money. The morning breakfast had plethora of options right from north indian options to south indian It also has multiple restaurants right from a pure vegetarian to a multicusine restaurant, a cafe and a longe.

I’ve been going to Anmol for almost 14 years now and the food has never disappointed. Everything is always fresh, flavourful, and just hits the spot every single time. Whether it’s a quick bite or a full meal, they’ve kept the quality consistent over the years and that’s saying something!

Started with their Chikku and Pineapple sheera. It took me straight to heaven. Perfect sweetness and good amts of chikku and pineapple.
Their Mysore masala dosa and Plain masala dosa were thin , crispy and had the most lovely coconut chutney ever.

Visited what I believe is the original Taj Mahal Restaurant in Mangalore. Compared to the newer Taj outlet, this branch feels a bit cramped and busier, especially during breakfast hours. There seems to be an air-conditioned hall, but it was full when we arrived, so we had to settle in the main serving area.
By the time we reached, most of the popular breakfast items were sold out, so we went with the basics — Upma, Plain Dosa, Masala Dosa, and Vada. Personally, I prefer the new Taj Mahal outlet, which feels more spacious, has better crowd management, and serves a few exclusive items that stand out.

There it is! An extremely disappointing dining experience after a while. Can’t remember the last time I visited an open restaurant in the morning which didn’t serve Dosa items inspite of having it on the menu. Had the Poori masala which was just below average. The coffee tasted like it had nail polish mixed in it. Idk maybe it’s their signature dish or something. Plus, the waiter does not even use tongs to serve fritters and snacks. He literally served me a sticky raggi mudde with his bare hands. I mean really?! I didn’t know if I wanna laugh or puke. With all due respect the experience was pathetic all over.

Without any provocation or mistake on my part, the waiter insulted me, making me feel humiliated and disrespected. The food was decent, though I personally felt it was overpriced for the quality served (think the quality has gone down since the last couple of years but the prices have gone up).
The staff members were courteous and helpful, which was appreciated. However, what stood out as a concern was the attitude of the person at the counter. 28.03.2025: Had breakfast recently at Indra Bhavan. It is conveniently located in close proximity to residential as well as commercial areas. There is a wide variety of dishes available. I had a double helping of delicious big Idlis + coconut chutney. Sambhar is also available but I did not opt for it. Two cups of piping hot filter coffee were an accompaniment. All this at an bargain price of Rs 102. The place is plain & simple, but the food quality and price make up for it. Visited this place after reading reviews however as a proud kannadiga the quality of food was not satisfactory. 1030am we visited the waiter said everything is served cold (not pan hot) except dosa items after we finished ordering. Idli vada appam kesari bath everything was cold and taste normal okayish. The food service here is extremely slow — while one person might get their order, others often have to wait 10–30 minutes or more. One of our dishes was delayed so long that we had to ask for it to be packed to go.

Located in the vicinity of Ocean Pearl hotel, this restaurant offers an upscale vegetarian dining experience. I visited this place on recommendation by my brother and it turned out to be a great place.
The atmosphere is clean. Minimal decoration and elegant interiors. Has the capacity to host a decent crowd. Wooden furniture gives a rich look to this restaurant. The wash area has a single bin which makes guests queue up and the dryer was not working at the time.
Service is average. They take their own time to serve north indian dishes. Even simple South Indian dishes like Dosa took 15 mins to serve. Maybe the shortage of manager level staff has resulted in such a situation I guess.
I ordered Masal Dose and it was delicious with the right amount of crispyness and texture. Palya & Chutney served with it felt fresh. Later ordered Fruit Salad with ice cream which was good but not great.

Parking is available in the cellar, but there is no lift facility available from the cellar to the ground floor where the restaurant is located. So, make sure to drop your family at the restaurant before heading to parking in order to avoid them climbing the steep incline.
Overall, it's a good vegetarian restaurant with great quality food and good hygiene. Recommended for all types of crowd.

Food preparation was delayed by more than 40 minutes. When I thought the food will make up for the delay, I was shocked to see the quality of food.

This place was recommended by a friend and we went there after a really hard day. The first impression when I saw it was of absolute horror...it looked dark, dingy and to be honest a bit creepy..I wasn't greatly pleased with the service either but decided to give it a go anyway ... The silver lining was when the food came out. A veg thali which had rice, sambhar and a vegetable which was accompanied by with disco fish and chicken sukha...I was satisfied with the food and it was indeed provided at a reasonable rate. Visited this place located in a very busy area with an impressive external appearance, but unfortunately, the food quality did not live up to expectations. I ordered a Raagi dosa, which was served cold — not what you’d expect from any decent eatery.
Even more disappointing was the tea. I had specifically asked for freshly prepared tea, but was instead served one made from tea decoction. The taste was quite bad and far from fresh. For any hotel, at the very least, serving proper tea should be a basic standard.

This is a old traditional hotel run by a family, and has shifted to a slightly newer but equally quaint building next door. You can see the old building with Mangalore tiles, next to this one.
