This restaurant was amazing ! You get to eat peri peri chicken where it was born ! The atmosphere is amazing ! You have to go in and take a number and wait outside until your turn but it’s worth it ! The food was incredible ! Not worth the hype - but the experience is definitely worth it.
Based on personal recommendations, we visited this restaurant to try the most famous dish (Frango Piri Piri). Completely surprised by the immense crowd an hour before lunchtime, we spent the nearly 30-minute wait in the bar area outside the door with dozens of other potential guests, only to be seated about half an hour later. The service is fast and efficient; guests are served promptly and without any significant wait time. The ordered dishes also arrive after a short time. (5/5 stars, also because of the "experience")

Unfortunately, the signature dish didn't convince me. The portion was rather small for a whole chicken (or rather, the chicken was a quail) - unfortunately, there was no trace of piri piri; if anything, it was subtly spicy and very oily. The side dishes (chips and tomato salad) can be confidently recommended (2/5 stars).
Overall, 3/5, because the food should be more important than the "experience" of having to wait in line for it. I don't plan on visiting again.

They call themselves the King of chickens and rightly so! Their piri piri chicken is to die for :) we also had the accompanied tomato and onion salad was super yummy!! The restaurant has a very local vibe which indicates that the focus is on the food rather than a fancy ambience. The service is quick and top notch. Franco a guia is a must have. Missed to have the Don Rodrigo, but it is a recommended dessert here. Private shaded parking space for plenty of cars. We called and made a reservation for lunch and it is highly recommended to avoid waiting.

A well organised restaurant, with good service and average quality food. The “frango” is small size chicken which is grilled and served with French fries. The fact that the chicken is small, means that the meat can easily become dry. Nevertheless the taste of the chicken is good (not exceptional). However, the French fries become like plastic within 5 minutes! I think it is better not to serve at all those fries which are full of low quality oil(fat). Another thing that I did not like, was the fact that the chicken was served with a sauce made of butter, garlic and some other ingredients (of course this is a personal preference…). All in all, it was a good experience but it is not my style of eating grilled chicken.

This place was super packed when we got here and it is a big building with lots of locals. We entered from one entrance and had to ask a local how to get a ticket in line, turns out we had to go to another entrance, wait there and get our name written down, then come back to the original entrance we came in and wait there for our name to get called.
We got the full chicken, and I was a little surprised by the low quantity of meat. However the chicken comes with lots of crispy fries. We also got the tomato salad as well which had pretty good seasoning. The chicken itself was charred and was salty but tasty, the crispiness of the chicken was a double edged sword - whilst it was nice and crunchy it was also dry in some parts.
Overall, it was great. Would come here again.

We also had complimentary fries and rice. Price level is very modest so this is a true "value for money" option. This is the best per peri chicken on earth. I’ve been coming here for 7 years and it’s amazing. There are only a few dishes on the menu but basically it’s grilled chicken, fries and salad. The incredible. You won’t want to eat this dish again in your own country after tasting this. We LOVED this place, so much so that we came back two nights in a row! Absolutely incredible views of the sunset over the beach, very friendly staff and delicious seafood and drinks! A special mention for the amazing service provided at the restaurant by Gonçalo and Otilia, they added so much to both nights. Highly recommend the clams with garlic and oil, the monk fish curry, the fried prawns with honey and the white wine sangria!
The bar attached to the restaurant is also very worth the visit. Allan was also very friendly and is a fantastic bartender and made us the best piña coladas. Laid back comfortable seats with feet in the sand making it feel even more holiday. We enjoyed post dinner cocktails here and then came back the next day after a swim for another.

We were lucky enough to get into this beautiful restaurant with a great staff. Unreal service and incredible food. We decided to try to get another reservation before we went back to Canada and thankfully we were good.

We started with the couvert, which was all delicious! They give a really good portion of very tasty bread, nice fresh cheese, and lots of tasty olives. The fish paste was a little too strong for our tastes.
We all went for the piri piri chicken, chips, and tomato salad. Amazing food, every bit. The tomatoes were huge! And so fresh and flavourful. Highly recommend getting them as an extra to the main meal.
The chips were good, but not the best in Guia. We asked for a spicy chicken and a not so spicy chicken, which they did it for us. All of it was really delicious.
The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable too. I asked a couple of questions about the food which they answered and gave a bit of extra info, which was great to see.
All this for a fair price.
Definitely recommend coming here, especially because you can get a pic with the chicken guy outside! How they are dressed in a fluffy chicken suit in the temperatures of Guia I do not know!

Ordered: Couvert (bread), olive’s, mixed salad, 1/2 chicken with garlic sauce and comes with french fries, T-bone steak comes with french fries and rice.
Everything was delicious!!! The bread and olives were delicious. My wife wanted to try the chicken piri-piri but wasn’t sure about the heat, so the server suggested a garlic sauce as an alternative; it did not disappoint. My T-bone steak was cooked with such a delicious flavor and was a perfect med-rare. Our mixed salad (medium) came dressed with the most flavorful olive oil.

Items worth noting the restaurant was busy with times we came.
We had couvert both times we came. Really loved bread, olives, and cheese. The fish paste was a little strong for our taste.
We tried the piri piri chicken and also tried the prawns.
The prawns were very large and tasted of the ocean. My wife loves prawns and said these were really good.
The piri piri chicken on the first visit was delicious, a nice spicy flavour. The second time we went, we asked for 3 portions, 1 being less spicy and the other 2 being spicy. All of the chicken came with no spice at all, just loads of salt, and the chicken was a little tough. It was a real shame as it had been so good the first time. We did mention it to the staff who dismissed us, saying they put no spice as its too complicated having one of each, which is disappointing as that's not what they said when we ordered.
The chips the second time were also not as good as the first time we went. The first time, they had a really lovely olive oil flavour with great colour to the chips. The second time, they didn't have much colour and were quite bland.
Due to these issues, I've taken a star off.
We would head back here as the food was overall good. But our experience was a little hit and miss.

We ate here on 2 evenings during our week stay in Guia and on both occasions were treated brilliantly by the hosts, who did everything possible to make the experience memorable.
The restaurant itself is a lovely quaint setting for a meal.
The food was gorgeous.
We opted for the mixed meat platter with T-bone, which was cooked to perfection. There was more than enough to eat, for just €30 each.
Another dish worthy of mention was the Cantinho style meat, which had thin slices of potato surrounding it.
