I come here 2-3 times every time I visit my parents. It’s by far the best fish I’ve had in the area. It’s small and inviting. Prices reflect the quality of fish. Orange-ish chicken- Holy moly! I can’t go back having “normal” orange chicken ever again. Ask for their house hot sauce. Be careful… the spice lingers for a while. It’s a different kind of spice. The spice slowly grows. So good!
Pork fried rice- they are very generous with the pork. Tender and so flavorful. I love it!
Lastly… spicy mango smash drink (alcohol). Delish!!!! You can’t go wrong.

Kai Ola was good but not as good as I had hoped. The sushi was fresh but I think the composition was just OK. We had the Moonlight roll, Sunset roll, Crispy rice, cucumber salad, yellowtail and albacore nigiri as well as an order of uni nigiri. Everything was fresh and presented as described in the menu. Do not order to go/pickup/uber eats from here. I ordered pickup and was told 40 minutes and waited an hour and a half almost (this was several months ago). Tonight, I ordered Uber Eats at 640 and it said 740 delivery…. It didnt get delivered until 840 my poor Uber Eats driver waited an hour. I called and she basically said they had a ton of uber orders and couldnt get around to any of them. This business has no business accepting uber eats orders when they are already struggling to get food to the tables eating there but they still do it and its mind boggling to me. I was in the restaurant business for years and trust me I hate writing this but it pains me to experience what I have with them. Also one of the sushi rolls was warm tonight and it reminded me that it was the same way last time. Just not good and unfortunately it overshadows the good experiences in person.
Im also gluten free and asked if they could put a little gluten free tamari on the side and they didnt - they did add a ton of packs of soy sauce though which made me wonder if they made the rolls gluten free at all.

Such a great experience every time at this location. I’m always impressed with how well-staffed they are, even during busy hours. We brought our baby boy with us, and at one point -while the place was packed- he tossed a chopstick on the floor and out of nowhere a smiling server was already there to help. Had a really great late lunch. Service was impressive, Vivi took great care of us. We ordered a variety of food and everything exceeded our expectations.
Started with Kaarage and pork belly bao, both were so good.
My wife got the drunken noodles and my daughter got the power protein poke, excellent choices. I got the pork ramen, it was so delicious but I couldn’t eat it all, so I had to choose my least favorite ingredient in the ramen and that was the Brussel sprouts. I came here in August with my friend for a 1:00 PM lunch on a Saturday, first time here. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor patio seating with a nice view. The patio was fairly busy. The quality of the fish was very average as compared to other Del Mar competitors, but for the prices which was very reasonable it was good. Take note, my favorite part of the meal was the Soft Shell Crab appetizer...that was fantastic. I could of eaten a whole appetizer myself! I would definitely come back for lunch.

Adding to place to our list of favorite sushi places, and they have several locations.
We came here in a group of 7 and had a wait time of 20 mins. I personally think that it's not too bad at that time because it was a full house. When we sat down our server was kind enough to let us know that the kitchen was backlogged and might take more than 15 mins for our orders to come out. She took our orders as soon as we were ready.
Their menu has a large selection to choose from and it might be overwhelming because of all the good food items you would want to order. We ended up getting several rolls to share and they came out much faster than we expected.
My personal favorite and I highly recommend the Chirashi Sushi, I loved their North Coast Signature Roll and I enjoyed the Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll.
Also, we were told that a part of the proceeds from the sales of the North Coast Signature Roll goes to a good cause. That's a great motivation for me to get it - and it was also really good.
On top all the good things I shared here, what was really the best part was the freshness of the ingredients, how clean it was, and how generous the portions are. The rolls and the sushi were big and had more meat that rice/extenders.

Their roll of the month caught my attention when looking up a quick happy hour spot to eat not far from the ocean. El Chappo was as fitting a name as is the name of the restaurant. Big bold Mexican flavors topped with the decadent togarishi made this roll exquisitely satisfying and very filling! The dishes are priced very fairly and their monday special of half off the chronic is amazing! The roll sizes are decent too. The highlight is definitely the appetizers though. I ordered most of them to try out and was surprised since they do small amazing differences in appetizers that are staples in most chain sushi restraunts. The shumai definitelt takes the cake. The only complaint I have is the sushi quality is not the best. Maybe the fancy rolls are better [per the other reviews I read], but I ordered a protein roll that listed the different types of fish it would include and I found that my favorite sashimi [Himachi] was barely represented in the roll.. which was overwhelmed with the other two fishes... this is not how a protein roll should be made...it should be equally balanced with each fish in the roll for balance. But that wasn't even the worst part... the flavor gave away the fact that the fish is NOT fresh. Thank Goodness for the ample amount of wasabi I was provided... no worries about illness, but I doubt I'll return to this location any time soon.

We loved dining at the location in Vegas and loved that Encinitas does not come with the Vegas price tag and the space can fit so many people but the quality was lacking.
We got the 5 set (salmon, shrimp, scallop, yellowtail, spicy tuna) and added three more (blue crab, toro, albacore).
Spicy tuna is always good because of the crispies. Salmon is usually good but I find that the shrimp had the most flavor. The scallops were creamy and bland. The blue crab had no flavor.
Basically most were lacking flavor. They say hand rolls are best to be consumed within the first 10 seconds to get the best crispy crunchiness of the nori. Well, it was a big disappointment because the nori was chewy and didn’t break off easily at every bite. That’s supposed to be the most satisfying.
Good thing we always order a side of yuzukoshu. We also got the temaki spicy. 2 for 1 sauce deal. Everything taste better if dipped in this sauce.
Now I need redemption at the Vegas location next month to complete my hand roll craving.

The protein roll is my personal favorite. SECRET TIP! you can ask them to use real crab meat instead of imitation crab meat for an extra charge. Well worth it.
The Hawaii Five-0 in Hawaii 60 rolls are also fantastic as are pretty much all their specialty rules.
We also love their salads. The ginger salad dressing is to die for.

Made a last minute decision to eat out after watching a show and this place was open. There was a line, so I thought it must be good and gave it a try.

I ordered Shoyu Ramen against the popular Tonkotsu Ramen, Shoyu Ramen was on the little salty side, that is the only problem, rest is all awesome. Shoyu is cooked in Beef broth, and had soft boiled eggs, red ginger, sesame seeds, bean sprouts, nori, scallions, bamboo shoots, and ribeye. The size is pretty big and very filling with lot of toppings.
