We enjoyed the experience immensely. The ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant was very relaxing with soft instrumental music and knives elegantly displayed. The moment you enter, you are welcomed by the smell of seafood which for someone who grew up around seafood is such a welcoming scent. Once everything started, we started receiving the pieces one by one. Each one tasting fresh and delicious. The anago was our favourite but the tamago (no photo) was amazing as well. For dessert, we got the matcha tiramisu which was excellent. I highly recommend this if you want to have an authentic omakase experience in Vancouver. My partner and I went to here for the first time. I was pretty excited to try this restaurant but overall was very disappointed… Service was pretty normal nothing special. We ordered Soba with seafood, miso sablefish and pressed sushi. I was really really looking forward to eating soba noodles as they are my favorite noodles. I could not feel the flavor or texture of Soba at all, just the sensation of eating noodles with a salty flavor. I guess they don’t know what soba noodles are :(( The entire dish was not unique and tasted like something you could make at home. And the portions were very small as well. To be honest I prefer to go other place to have beautiful dinner. We had Omakase Uni Zumushi Lunch set. It was amazing!!! Everything was so fresh and taste great. This is authentic Japanese restaurant and I think this is the best Japanese restaurant in Vancouver. I like the variety of simple teishoku (set lunches) choices as well as some really good raw seafood rice (chirashi). いつも美味しくいただくことが出来ます。居酒屋か飯屋として、めしや魚焼きやチラシもいろんなものがあります。

This was our 4th or 5th visit at RAISU. We ordered shokado bento (limited quantities), wagyu hamburg steak teishoku and deluxe seafood donburi. I felt overall tastes were much saltier this time and we (our family) were not impressed by meals compared to before. Staff are very polite and attentive. Food tastes like home made. My husband and I love udon noodles and dinner combo. Especially udon and miso soup tasted authentic dashi and felt comforting. Also, I’d strongly recommend AGAINST going here with a large group (3+), unless you’ve made a reservation prior! The dining space is not that big, and while there are both booth/table and bar/window options for seating, it’s likely that you’ll end up waiting for quite a while if you have a large party. The decor and interior is pleasing and pretty, but at the end of the day, it’s still a small space. Maybe someday, I’ll return again- I’d truly like to, as I loved the pancakes so much! But for now, I’m content with going to other places in Vancouver.
