Whatever, we ordered the fish and chips, and were not disappointed. The cod fillet was huge. And luckily, there weren't too many chips, but because they'd been deep fried in batter, they were utterly delicious. Loved the mushy peas in a miniature saucepan. At £15 this dish is similarly priced to many other places. However, you get proper cod here, rather that a cheaper option such as pollack or whiting that some other pubs and restaurants offer. Well, to get that extra star I would recommend the following:- 1. Waiting staff should visit each table every 10 minutes to enquire if anyone would like more drinks. It took us a while to flag down someone to order more drinks at the table. This would also increase sales, so a 'win-win'. 2. There weren't any condiments anywhere. I'd have loved a slice of lemon and tartare sauce to go with my cod, and some vinegar on the chips. So I'd suggest either a Wetherspoon's style condiment station for customers to help themselves, or put them on each table. 3. There was no drinks menu. So whilst you can see the cask ales at the bar, customers have no idea what other drinks, such as wine, are available, or the price. A simple matter to put right. We will visit again.
