I have truly had the worst experience with this apartment complex and management and mind you I have rented in apartments all of undergrad and medical school. Now as a current medical resident, living here has added a bunch of unnecessary stress. 1. One of the early issues I had was that everything took forever to get fixed. I was told early on that maintenance would be here daily but later found out they were only on the property a few times a week (I think tuesday and thursday). My dishwasher was not working during my first week there and it took over three weeks to get that solved since they themselves did not know how to fix it. My dryer at one point also stopped working and it took two weeks to get fixed. It took over a week to even change a small lightbulb. 2. Noise - I'm not sure if this is just my floor but I have had full on fights occur outside of my door in the middle of the night. It has been several times that police will call my unit trying to get in because someone on the property is fighting. I once even had a random guy come pounding on my door in the middle of the night . I also have neighbors that will constantly be yelling and screaming about how they can't wait to move out. 3. During the winter there was an issue with one of the pipes bursting and it completely flooded peoples apartments and actually broke the elevator. I remember I went to use the water from the fridge and it wasn't working - when I walked out I found several of my neighbors in the hallway saying their apartments were completely flooded. The elevator alone took over a month to get fixed and so we had to use the stairs, which is fine except when you have groceries or luggage to carry up so many flights of stairs. 4. Safety - originally I and another neighbor - were told that there would be security onsite, which is a lie. I have had people leave all types of weird notes on my car and as someone who leaves early for the hospital and comes back late, I honestly do not feel safe even walking from the parking lot to the entrance door during those times. For several months there was actually a homeless person living in the abdomened building next door who would yell at me whenever he happened to wake up and I would be walking by. I told management early about this and nothing was ever done, which is no surprise. 5. The cherry on top for all of this has been my electricity bill. I happen to be lucky enough to live in a unit that the furnace does not work properly and so my bills over the winter have been anywhere from 400-500/month. Originally, I thought it was a mistake and so I had DTE perform an investigation. They later found that the unit even when no one was living there was causing that high of a monthly bill and so I had them write a letter stating that there was nothing I was using that was causing that issue, but rather something was wrong with the furnace and therefore the responsibility should fall onto the property. I quickly notified the management, Desiree, who for months now has either been ignoring my emails or calls, when initially she had told me the building would cover this since this was an issue with the building itself. After initially saying that, she later informed me that I actually have to pay 250/month for those bills - and provided no explanation or even break down of how that number was even calculated. Mind you I barely am ever home, mainly because I work long hours and also I leave the state whenever I have free time so during the summer my highest bill was 60 and usually it was 30-40. During the winter my furnace is usually set at 65, and somehow they expect me to cover a random amount and for months now have not even responded or given me a solution. The furnace itself actually will blow warm air and then a ton of cold air so my apartment is always freezing, even when set at 70. Again, one person came and turned it on and said it turned on which no duh that's not the concern here and since no one has even attempted to figure this out.
