Spur of the moment stop while in Chico but definitely did not disappoint! Food was great, beer selection on tap was abundant, the atmosphere was awesome and service was excellent. Parking can be difficult especially during peak hours, so plan ahead! This was on St. Patrick’s Day right at lunch and the weather was awesome! After having suishi at the Rawbar ( awesome place) we did some shopping and saw this place and decided to check it out.
It's a cool beer and burgers place with indoor and outside seating. It has a ton of beers to choose from! Although I am not a beer drinker we did try a few samples offered by Nico ( really nice and cordial employee). We decided on a pale ale and got the garlic fries as well.
We only nibbled on the fries because we had suishi awhile ago but we loved that there was alot of garlic on the crunchy fries! More leftovers!
It had a nice cool and relaxing vibe. If you love beer then this is the place to go!
Fun and relaxing environment. Kiddos welcome with kids menu.
Nothing fancy...Great for University area!

I ordered the BnB cheeseburger, which is supposed to be like a Western burger. and well, I got it, and there was a drop of BBQ sauce on it. If I order a BBQ burger, I want it to be sloppy and messy. My husband ordered the mushroom and onion burger. You think it would be overflowing with those two items, but it wasn't. The buns weren't toasted either. There is just a lot they could do but don't. The fries were ok. It's just not a place I would go again. There are better places in town for a good burger.

The tables can be found a bit sticky even when there aren't many people there, but the customer service is generally quite good and the food is delicious and portions are robust. I just had one of their daily specials (see photo). I can't remember what the name of it was but it's the 3rd or 4th time I've gotten one of the specials and I've never been disappointed. The service was also very fast, although I did have the advantage of going in while it was slower, around 5:30pm the week after the last Thursday night market of the year.

We brought a visiting family member to Burgers and Brew for dinner last night (10/21/2025) and were quite disappointed with the condition of the restaurant. The patio dining area was filthy despite the restaurant being nearly empty - the floors were sticky and littered, there was bird droppings on the tables, nearly every chair cushion was worn and /or torn, and the area smelled of stale urine. Additionally, the restaurant bathrooms were closed. The food we ordered was edible but mediocre at best. Absolutely love this bakery. We have purchased many cakes from here over the years. The service is always wonderful and the product is even more delicious. Recently I turned 40 and had a Gilmore girls themed birthday party and they came in clutch with a chocolate espresso cake that was so delicious. This is one of our favorite places in town. I took away one star since everything there is too sweet. The drinks are too sweet (vanilla frost), the apple caramel is too sweet (over powering), even the coconut macaron. Someone needs to dial things down a bit.

Beautiful location with ample seating. The service was a bit slow due to the big rush, however the staff were very kind. I unfortunately did not enjoy their veggie sandwich and potato soup. We order a couple of the breakfast quesadillas & an egg breakfast sandwich on ciabatta. The food was excellent the drinks were lukewarm at best. Even though we had a number and were told someone would bring us our food, they didn't bring our drinks and they sat on the counter for over 5 minutes until a customer came out and asked if anyone in the patio was named Bill because they have been calling my name. Just not very well seasoned or stand out food. Feels very minimalist, kinda get your food and go. Meh food but nice comfortable spread out space.
You order at the front counter and they bring the food to you, there’s a coffee and water bar in the middle however it’s a massive restaurant so it doesn’t really make sense. I imagine when it’s packed it’s quite chaotic but when we were there it was pretty empty. The restaurant is relatively secluded, it’s in a shopping center with a Williams Sonoma paint store in a pretty quiet part of town somewhat close to the highway but no loud car noises.
The food was nothing to rave over but also nothing disappointing, if someone said they wanted to go I would humor them and tag along but I wouldn’t seek it out. The coffee was pretty meh too.

One of the best places in town for delicious breakfast. Huevos rancheros is my favorite. The delicious ingredients and the way it’s cooked is better than any other place in town. We go to beatniks probably too frequently. We have a Few menu favorites that we cycle through that are all delicious. 1) The bongo Benedict is always really consistent and the eggs are cooked perfectly. 2) The avocado toast is super yummy and relatively filling! It’s not the largest menu item, but it’ll definitely fill you sufficiently. Definitely in my top 3 avocado toasts in town. 3) the breakfast club: 10/10 it’s hefty so it might be 2 meals for a lot of people but it’s delicious. The only reason I give this four stars is affordability. This food was so delicious. I got the turkey club and the sauce on it was amazing. They served it with potatoes and a delicious little slice of carrot cake which happens to be my favorite. Coffee was coffee. Not incredible but decent enough. The staff was kind and helpful. The glaze seemed like it should overwhelm the steelhead, but the fish had such a strong flavor of its own, that everything balanced out perfectly. This appetizer honestly really stole the show tonight.
2nd roll, 6th roll, 20th roll, and vegan omakase. We had ordered all these in the past, but the favorites last night were the 2nd and 6th. The smokey tofu of the 6th, along with its creamy texture, always hits right. The crunchy and citrus burst on the 2nd goes beautifully with its chili glaze.
I'll admit that by the time the rolls came out, I completely forgot to keep taking pictures of the food, because I was more into the conversations I was having with my partner and scarfing down all the delicious food, but hopefully the pictures of the appetizers are helpful! Taco Tuesday is getting progressively harder to review, due to not too many establishments left to rate. So, this time I went to Gordo Burrito in search of tacos I hadn't eaten. Chalk this up to another learning experience. Normally I only try street tacos, but they had a special on hard shell (3 for $6) with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and choice of meat (carne asada). I then got 2 street tacos ($1.75 ea), both carne asada, extra spicy (🙄). To say the meat was bland is an understatement... it had ZERO flavor with the exception of the lard it must've been sitting in. Very little onion, mostly cilantro, no lime...and mild at BEST for claiming spicy. The hard shell tacos were overflowing with lettuce, hardly any tomato, a large amount of the sour cream, lemon wedge, and again, NOT spicy. The shells were crisp, but fell apart with the 1st bite. It's getting to the point I may have to try dine-in restaurants for my Taco experiences, but I will NOT return here unless I'm high jacked. I'm getting to old to eat at sub-par food trucks. Read my other reviews...PLENTY of stellar food trucks in town, just not this one.

Salty oak’s been my current favourite, with a tint of salt and chunks of chocolate, it’s a perfect blend for me. I’ve heard that their mint chocolate thins are delicious too, I’m not a big fan of that combo. But, everyone I’ve known, just love it.

I've been here a few times now and the experience has always been great. The food, the service, the atmosphere, all perfect. Whether it's just my wife and I or a group of 10+, they always manage to handle things perfectly.

Absolutely incredible. My first time here and my husband and I were sat by Micheal who was friendly and handed us an open menu and made things feel so inviting. Shay was our server and she was awesome, very well spoken, very informed on the menu, and checked on us consistently. The young girl dropping off the food was also incredibly nice… I truly haven’t had service like this as long as I can remember.

Good food and cozy atmosphere! Located in the heart of chico is this unpretentious building where the Red Tavern is located. They open at 430pm and happy hour specials are available until 6pm. The place is somewhat small but they were packed by 530 pm today (december 20). We ordered the 10 ounce steak and the 11 dollar happy hour shrimp. The shrimp was awesome with butter and garlic. We split the steak but it was too rare for me. Dessert was a eggnog cheesecake which was delicious! Shae (our waitress) was friendly and attentive. I had a dinner with a girlfriend at Grana back in late October. It was my first time there, but my friend is a regular & wine club member. We arrived for our 6pm patio reservation right on time to find out they had just given our table away. After unraveling what had been done on their end, they scrambled to find us space. We caught the patio on a perfect Chico evening - not too hot, not yet cold - and it was a really aesthetically pleasant space. Dog friendly, too! Since my friend is a wine club member, we started with a tasting. Hers ended up being complimentary, while mine was not. Our server was attentive and kind, and overall the food was good. The wedge salad was crunchy & fresh, and composed in a thoughtful & artistic way. Bodega Slice Shop is putting out better pies at a fraction of the price.
All in all, the Grana patio was pretty ideal in terms of ambiance for a girls night with an old friend. The wine & food was good, but pricey for the value, so it'll probably take another invite from her to bring me back.

It's been awhile — back in the day I hit them up when they first opened on Nord Avenue and liked the food and the mochas. I was stoked to see they were still in Chico and had moved out to Esplanade. Some other changes — the menu is MUCH easier to read, the logo has been updated, and I don't think they are getting their coffee from the roaster down in San Diego anymore.
They still do a great cook on breakfast potatoes. That being said I was bored with the "Dragon Potatoes". It read really nice — slow-roasted carnitas (tender, fat rendered nicely), crispy rosemary potatoes (perfect), black beans, jack cheese, jalapenos (not many), sour cream (decent amount), avocado sauce (not much), cilantro and Roma tomatoes. Get some drizzle bottles and kick up the seasoning a bit. Also, the cornmeal pancakes ran a bit dry so as much as I want to love Sin of Cortez (service was great, venue was nice, parking good) the food didn't do it for me and the house coffee did not encourage going back for a refill.

We’re out of towners and a friend said this is a must go to spot. I really liked it here. The mimosas flight was huge and very good flavors. My coffee was picturesque! We arrived right before the lunch rush and had our choice of seating. Plenty of parking in the adjacent lot. Facility was clean. The server was attentive at just the right times and we received our meal quickly. We got avocado scrambles with the included rosemary bread and potatoes. If you are hungry, arrive early. The wait was about 35 minutes on a Sunday.
Our waiter, Tanner was awesome. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the food and drink menu, he bussed our table along the way (no dirty dishes piled on the table) and was all around attentive.
The food was delicious. We had a breakfast sandwich, hash n potatoes, and strawberries and cream pancakes. Pancakes were huge, moist and fluffy. The rosemary potatoes were a hit with everyone and I loved the rosemary toasted bread. The mimosa flight was just what we needed, being our 1st time there it made it easier to identify our favorite. They were all good but the Brazilian and the pomegranate ones were our favorite. The house mimosa is perfect if you're on a health kick (it has kale)
The down side - cash or check only (there's an ATM w/ $2 fee inside), no Tabasco, and my Sunnyside up egg's yolk was almost completely cooked through.

This place is SO good! I usually get the 2x2x2 with blackberry pancakes and it's delicious. It's pretty small inside but cozy. There's lots of natural light from all the windows which is cool. Sundays are fairly busy but it's still good service. Every time I've gone, the servers are all really nice. Just make sure that you bring cash because they don't take card payments still. Although, there is an atm available if needed. Overall this is a great place for breakfast, would definitely recommend!

This was a spur of the moment decision. I had been craving Indian food and spotted this place on Google Maps. I suddenly remembered that this was the Indian place my buddy had suggested to me. Since it was on the way, I decided to give it a try. The full parking lot when we pulled up was a good sign.
I wasn't expecting a buffet, but I was completely fine with this set up, as it cost about as much as you would pay for a regular meal and you can sample multiple items and eat as much as you want. The menu wasn't very large, but the items they had on offer were tasty and it had a nice variety of veggie and meat dishes, so it was perfect for someone who's still kind of new to Indian food. I don't know if they cut down because of Covid or if it was because we came during lunch time, but this was the first restaurant I went to where I wasn't offered any drinks, besides water. I found this a bit strange. There was also no flat bread. The pictures I saw online made it seem like it was a regular restaurant, so I don't know if that changed at some point, or if I'm just missing something.
That being said though, this was only the second time I dined at a "proper" Indian restaurant, and the experience didn't disappoint. The food was good, but the ambience of the place was what really earned it points in my book. That was the only thing that really made it stand out from other buffet style restaurants. Now, is it something to write home about, maybe not. But being one of the only few Indian restaurants in Butte County, I could totally see myself dining here again and suggesting it to a friend.

We ordered the Matar Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala a la carte that is served with a VERY generous amount of rice and plenty of extra naan to go around. The mango lassi and mango shakes were also very delicious- sweet and creamy. We were stuffed afterwards! The staff was very attentive and courteous throughout which was much appreciated. Stopped in for a quick apatizer and a beer. They had a better selection of draft beers than a lot of places. I ordered a Great White and the Honey hot smoked wings with blu cheese.
The food came quick and hot! In terms of spicy, they were not spicy at all, so if you're looking for a spicy wing you may want to try the buffalo sauce (I haven't tried it, I just assume it will have more kick). I used to come here all the time as a kid with my family and friends and have only come in maybe twice in the last 10 years. Also I got a summer burger deal with the fries and the malt but wanted a different cheese and wasn't told that the cheese substitution would cost extra. It wasn't much, but I'd prefer to find out verbally rather than from the register screen. Even with the deal though, I'm not quite sure how the total ended up being over $22 based on the prices on the summer deals sign even with tax, so that was a little weird. Lastly, they're still stuck on binary bathrooms. I doubt they'll change that anytime soon, but how hard would it be to make both bathrooms gender-neutral? They're single toilet rooms anyway, so what's the big deal?

The food was good..good variety. They had a salad bar, a variety of fresh fruit. They have an area you load up what fresh ingredients you want and then they will cook it for you which I thought was awesome. My girlfriend introduced me to this place and its been my go to spot for chinese buffet ever since. Any time I go to other buffets I always compare them to kwando as the gold standard.
The food is always super fresh. Ive never felt like I would get sick from eating any of the food served.
Their sushi options are extremely vast and you can even have your own custom roll made for you!
The staff is super friendly and always welcoming. They stay on top of everyone's extra plates and keep the restaurant very clean.

Kwando Buffet wins hands down compared to a higher rated buffet yet gets less stars. Why wins? A few good reasons: seafood is readily available, and many dishes very tasty. Pork belly bao is great. Potstickers aren’t traditional because they aren’t deep fried in Japan. Only pan fried or seldomly steamed. I’ll allow it since I assume it’s Americanized, ramen is appropriate portion and broth flavour depth was good. First time in 30 years I've been disappointed by hulas. My noodles were pale and simultaneously burnt in spots. It tastes like butter noodles and freezer burnt meat. The refilled things quick and if there wasn't enough you could ask for more. We lived/worked in Butte County for 18 years before accidentally discovering Chada, a cozy family owned restaurant in a basement space in downtown Chico below Brooklyn Bridge Bagels. After reading great reviews, we met friends from almost 2 hours away for lunch in Chico. Our waitress was absolutely amazing! She was so friendly and helpful.
