Lucky to live very locally to Jaipur of Chigwell. As foodies, we’ve had many curries all over the world and here even tops Jaipur itself. We’ve been coming here for years since we moved to the area and it never lets us down. Lovely customer service. The recent renovation also makes this place a comfortable and classy vibe where we take all our friends when they come to visit. Will continue to come back for more of our favourite dishes - highly recommend the Jaipur Sylheti king prawn dish, tandoori lamb chops and spinach pakora!

We travelled here to try this place based on google reviews. I was extremely underwhelmed. The food came out far too quickly and mostly tasted reheated. Very bland, under seasoned and 0 salt. The chicken in my Madras was chewy. Came out boiling hot but tasted like it had been zapped in the microwave and was cold in 2 minutes. The onion bhajis were reheated and tasted like they had been delivered and didn’t travel well. The potatoes were cooked to perfection but just tasted like boiled potatoes even though they were cooked with a sauce. The chicken tikka was smothered in tamarind sauce. So even though the chicken was atleast tender, all I could taste is a savoury soy taste. The madras somehow managed to have heat without flavour. Everything was very average. The waiters constantly cleared plates from your table whilst you were still eating. As soon as they see what they perceived as finished, they would come to your table and lean over to collect the bowls. The owner takes the bill and was very friendly offering us a free drink at the end. I thought that was a nice touch.We did decline and he gave us free water to take. Nothing was particularly bad. But it wasn’t good either. I struggle to understand how this place has so many positive reviews. I wish it lived up to the expectations I had. But I won’t be coming here again.

One of the Best restaurants I have been in. The food was amazing. Not too spicy. Not too greasy. Just right. The waiters and owner were very friendly. This restaurant is a true gem and one that everyone should visit to experience the 5 star service from the wonderful staff and savour the really tasty dishes they bring out! The food is delicious and they have a large selection to suit all tastebuds including an array of delicious vegetarian and meat dishes. The lamb shanks are the best we have tasted! Even the naan bread they brought out was nothing short of mouth-watering, freshly baked in their special ovens. Everything was beautifully cooked and tasted great! I have to say the staff are superb and catered to all our needs and went above and beyond. At the end we told them we were celebrating a couple of family birthdays and they told us to sit back down. Lol! They organised a birthday song and brought out some complimentary celebration drinks and desserts.
Super sweet staff!
Will be visiting again and placing some orders for collection. :)

I had a wonderful time at Sheesh Chigwell. Our waitress Kevin was very attentive and respectful. We were two hijabi’s and he instantly removed the wine glasses upon being seated without having to prompt him which was pleasant. Kevin was welcoming and had a very friendly face. The vibes of the restaurant were immaculate, both in and out. The food was amazing. I got the chicken leg (off the bone) meal. It was very filling and I’m a foodie and I just about finished it! Came here for a celebration and cannot believe how hyped up it is. I understand it is in an affluent location with upscale guests, but the price tag to the dishes served are questionable.
Upon arriving promptly at the time of our booking, we were told our table was getting ready so to wait in the upstairs bar. The wait was 25 minutes and I suspect was a ploy to order drinks while waiting, because why on earth would it take that long to get the table ready, especially when where we were seated was visibly empty when we arrived.
We all ordered mocktails, tasted so basic and priced the same as cocktails which is a steal.
Ordered a couple starters, the creamy mushrooms were tasty along with the shrimp. Very small portion size so that was disappointing.
Then for the main we ordered the mix sheesh and lamb which came with salad only so we ordered the sunset rice and truffle chips as a side. The ratio of meat to salad was appalling, more salad than meat which tastes like any other Turkish place.
Overall, a very disappointing experience, I get that it’s an upscale restaurant but it is clear they are established as a premium without offering any substance because of the types of people who frequent the place.
We were also seated in the conservatory, which due to the outside weather being chilly was also cold indoors. The lighting was also very dark so having an equally dark menu was difficult to decipher as it needed the light to be brighter.
I would not recommend nor return, think it’s overly hyped and the food offering can absolutely be found elsewhere along with a better atmosphere too.

When we arrived we were greeted by a nice door man who opened the doors for us. We were shown to our seat with a lovely setting with a live band upstairs.
The chicken shish was juicy and had lots of flavour. The sizzling Prawn starter was spicy and succulent and The Lobster was very tasty. The truffle chips were filling and could share for two people. The rice was ok.
We ate our food and went up stairs for more drinks and Kelly le roc and band were playing amazing music.
A really nice restaurant and the atmosphere was buzzing. Staff were happy and friendly.
A bit pricey but worth it.

Olives, ham, cheese, egg, tomato sauce..all usually do the trick - but I was getting no real flavour here whatsoever. A real shame because it was beautifully cooked.
Perhaps this is due to the low cost of the ingredients used in order to meet a budget. I really don't know. At just 9 quid - it was a bargain...but I'd have happily paid double if it had packed some serious Italian punch.

I have been to Italian restaurants all over Italy and the UK many times and I am a big fan of italian food. The food here was very well presented and the seemed fresh in every way but the flavours just were not there for me. Regret booking this as my birthday lunch. We were a group of 10 and have all agreed we wont be returning with family, friend or other meals going forward. The chips were hard and so were the potatoes. We asked for another potion of chips and the second batch also come out undercook we left it all. Had to send back the sausages in blankets because they were not cooked and the pastry on the pie was also undercooked. Meat in the roast was inconsistence some under cooked and some over. The sticky toffee pudding had no toffee sauce and was basically a cake with very limited custard (had to ask for more). The staff were working so hard but rushed of their feet. We had to wait for drinks for over 30 minutes and ordered at 2.45 but wasn't served until 5pm. Don't mind waiting if the food is going to be good but it wasn't. We have given you a few chance now as we loved the restaurant so much but 3 consistently visits have been so disappointing wont be coming back. This wasn't cheap either it costs £40-£50 per person, the only good thing was the nibbles.

Had walked past dim-t a few times and liked the look of the place. It's often been incredibly busy.
Friday lunch (1pm) was my time to eat!
Plenty of tables and about 8 others seated. My order, Chicken Gyoza and BBQ Pork Ramen.
I asked for both to come at the same time which they duly did; deliciously hot (temperature) nicely spiced and just what was needed on a freezing cold day.
Ramen was a bit light on the pork and it didn't really have any real Barbecue flavour. Slightly disappointing, the spiciness of the broth would've probably overtaken this flavour anyway.
It's an extremely agreeable atmosphere in here albeit for the construction work (sporadic drilling and banging) coming from the kitchen. That marred an otherwise near-perfect visit.

This place has toilets at the entrance so the first thing that hits you as you enter is this putrid toilet odour and it does not help that the main toilet door was left permanently open. Maybe to let the odour out but then it hits guests as you walk in. Not cool at all. Good thing the restaurant is upstairs.
Now to the restaurant. The ambience was ok but a bit too cluttered for me but I guess it's the Italian style. For me, less is more and attractive. The service was good. The food beat my expectations. Not everyone knows how to do steak or even have the right cut of meat. Some use meat that taste like of the shelf Tesco steak but lamb chops and steak at Linguine was good meat I must say. It was cooked to perfection too. The starters were great too. There is available on site parking which is great and the views at the back are amazing seeing as they have golfers over there too.
For the food, I'd visit again.

Copious amounts of prawns and salmon (could have been a main course on its own.

Starting of with the Shakshuka it was beautifully poached and the eggs were cooked to perfection as the yolk was runny and broke smoothly. The Shakshuka was nice with the veggies added to it. All the flavours were perfect and the bread was really good quality as it never got hard.
The Medi breakfeast was perfect with the little dips. It’s not soemthing we would go for but I’m glad we tried it as it was really nice.
French toast was aesthetically pleasing to look at and tasted Devine. The fresh fruits, clotted cream and maple syrup was amazing it worked really well together. If you love a sweet breakfeast this is for you!
With English breakfast you just can’t go wrong. Everything was cooked to perfection. The hashbrows were really nice and crispy.
Eggs royal was amazing it’s one of the best royal we ever had. We have never tried it with brioche before but it worked perfectly.

Its been long time we are living in this area and generally we use to pass this hidden gem saying that it may not be the good option for us and we use to travel to central london to enjoy the meal .But today we took a risk and enter into the resturant and we were surprised to know that our assumption was absolutely wrong and we were happy to be wrong here .

Such a wonderful first visit to The India Grill this evening. Staying in Loughton for a few days I was dining alone but have seen the place packed at the weekend - so it must be good!
You'd hope so - the family have run the business from these premises since 1970 and it's currently listed as the No2 best Indian Restaurant in the whole of Essex.
I ventured inside on a snowy, cold and miserable December Monday and I'm so pleased I did. The Owner, Mo and his family gave me a lovely warm-welcome. My order; Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi, Keema Rice, Onion Bhaji. All came, promptly, piping hot, fresh and with beautiful levels of flavour and spicing.
Perfect portion size (a decent sized meal)...not too much, not too little. Excellent value.
Will be back again, next time with my wife!

I haven't been in here for about 20 years after moving out the area, but last Friday we had 2 hours spare between kids clubs so popped in for a curry.
On first glance the interior looks a little dated and tired and needs a bit of love, but putting that to one side, the two young members of staff were very polite and welcoming.
I always go for a Lamb Madras as my tester dish in new places. It was perfect! The Biriani was served the good old way with the chipati over the top so it's cut open to reveal the dish.
Lovely tarka dal, rice and sag paneer. The dal, maybe slightly over salted for my palate but loads of great punchy garlic!
The owner for very welcoming with a big smile when we entered and left.
This place is positioned with loads of footfall at weekends so maybe it's ripe for the next wave and just needs at least a light refurbishment to make it feel a little more pleasing to the eye on passing.

Today I visited @chigwellfishbar and ordered a large Cod and Chips with 2 tubs of Tartare Sauce and a can of rubicon Mango. On entering the shop I was greeted by such friendly staff who cooked the fish and chips as I waited - and I watched them do the batter and everything which was lovely and The interior of the shop was also really nice. And the shop also extremely clean and covid safe. The fish is delivered every single morning fresh from billingsgate and cooked fresh once ordered so nothing is actually laying around pre cooked which is really nice ! The fish itself was absolutely delicious and is definitely one of the best I’ve had. The cod was absolutely beautiful so soft and the batter so lovely and crispy. The cod was huge which was lovely as many fish shops won’t actually give you a large cod when you order one - you’ll usually get something smaller for the large price. The chips were gorgeous and cooked to perfection and lovely and crispy and the tartare sauce really complimented the whole meal really well. All in all a fabulous fish and chip shop, amazing food, lovely staff and a great location in the middle of chigwell Essex. Thank you so much Guys .. I was passing through Chigwell for work on Thursday 17/07 and saw hand written a sign in the window stating Chicken wrap £5. I ordered this a tea, marked at £1.50 on the board above the till. The wrap was tasteless made of pieces of something deep fried in a wrap. It took nearly 30 minutes to get it to the table and the salad with it was pathetic. I left half of it and asked to settle. The guy said “£9.00 cash only.” I pointed out both prices and he said these are takeaway prices. Therefore both signs are misleading. The wrap was £7 and the tea £2 to eat in but they do NOT say this and the insistence on cash is all too familiar for some businesses looking to avoid their income declaration.
The nearby ‘Deli’ was packed whereas this place only had two other customers.
Bottom line….avoid, avoid, avoid !

Called to preorder food. All ok. They said they’d cook it for me fresh to pick up.
Got there 10 mins early. chips wrapped in front of me. Fish already boxed. Asked for salt and vinegar on the fish, lid was slightly lifted to do so; but I couldn’t see the fish and thought that was odd in itself but thought I was being suspicious without reason.
Paid and took the food.
Chips were average. Nothing to write home about but not awful either.
Fish on the other hand actually made me wretched took one bite, started to chew and swallowed a tiny bit before spitting the rest out as it just didn’t sit right with me. You’ll see from the photos, it looks like it has been fried more than once, and by the time I ate it the batter was soggy. No idea how long it had sat sweating in the box for before I got it. Absolutely vile.
Curry sauce had cinnamon in it. Not a standard curry sauce. They shouldn’t highlight that before selling it to you.
So I paid £15 for a handful of chips (cause I asked for a very small portion; though still got charged full price).
An absolute disgrace. Don’t know what they got their stars for but definitely not for the kind of food they served me tonight.
Disgusting food. Went in the bin.
