During my first visit to Deadwood, I stopped at Saloon No. 10 for dinner.
We were initially seated downstairs, where the atmosphere was very lively with music playing. It definitely had more of a bar scene vibe. However, we were later informed that dining guests were meant to be seated upstairs, which offered a quieter, more traditional dining setting.
For my meal, I ordered the Flat Iron steak with asparagus and a wedge salad. It was my first time trying a Flat Iron steak, and I found it to be pretty good. The asparagus wasn’t quite how I prefer it, but it wasn’t bad either. My only wish is that, given the price of the meal, it would’ve been nice to have a baked potato or mashed potatoes included.
The only real downside was the wedge salad. While it tasted good, it had far too much dressing for my preference. I generally have no dressing at home, but I don’t mind some when dining out. However, this one was a bit overwhelming, less dressing would have improved it significantly for me.
Overall, this was a good spot for a meal.
If you enjoy a lively atmosphere with live music, you’ll likely enjoy the downstairs area. If you prefer a quieter dining experience, like I do, the upstairs dining room provides a more relaxed setting.

Saloon No. 10 is a fantastic and fun historic bar right in the heart of downtown Deadwood. While it’s not the actual site of Wild Bill’s assassination, the place is packed with cool history and character. They’ve got a solid drink selection, live music that adds to the lively vibe, and even some casino games if you're feeling lucky. This is the quintessential Deadwood stop. We visited during Bike Week, so it was understandably busy! We were initially told there’d be a two-hour wait, but we found seats at the upstairs bar and were delighted to be finished with our meal within an hour. This gets confusing because there are two Saloon #10's, both on the same strip but in different locations. The "original" Saloon 10 is called "Original Location of Saloon No. 10" and that is where Wild Bill was killed. We absolutely loved this place! The menu is full of unique western dishes you don’t find just anywhere. We tried the pork shank, buffalo ravioli, and pheasant pasta — all were amazing, full of flavor, and perfectly cooked. We really loved this place! We went two nights in a row. Prices were moderate, $16 for a burger meal. Burger selection has a good range of choices and the fries are better than most other fries. Had the Hula Burger and a Western Burger. The burgers are light on the sauce, which can be nice sometimes and their side choices have a good range too. One of the few places that kids can go in. Has an old diner feel. The food was very average and overpriced. I get it’s a tourist town. Ordered a cheeseburger, western burger and two mini corn dogs one with fries and one with chips. I guess I was expecting house chips but she got lays. Average tourist restaurant in Deadwood. We are here because it was really family friendly. Prices are pretty high for lunch. It was $17 or $18 for a cheeseburger.

This was a cool place to visit while in Deadwood. The inside decor is awesome, lots of signed jerseys. There is a small video arcade. The staff was nice, bit seemed rather rushed the whole time, kind of making you feel like you need to hurry to be ready to order. Downside was the food. My son's chicken strips were ok, my wife's wings were not cooked long enough to be crispy, and they won't let you get more than 1 flavor for the wings, without a reason as to why. The bad part was my chili dog. It was literally cold, the chili and the hot dog. They make the chili which was ok, but it's far too wet for a chili dog, so the bun was soaked through. So in the long run, when we visit again, we will probably find ourselves eating at a different place. It is a very cool atmosphere though.

What a fun bar! This is the actual bar where Wild Bill got shot and you can go on a self-guided tour yourself!
We stopped in here for the first time on September 5, 2024 and I'm happy we did! This bar is full of history and the bartender, Yates, took great care of us! They have a great selection of local beers and their hard liquor is very unique! You won't find the usual names but I still recommend trying them!
The gentleman playing the guitar was a hoot! He made us laugh and definitely added to the atmosphere! You can pay $10/per person for the self guided tour, and it's worth it! You'll be able to go down to the lower level which was where Wild Bill was shot that fateful day! Lots of cool history!
I highly recommend stopping in here! One of the historic shootouts happens right outside of this bar in the street, so stop in afterwards! It'll be worth it!

We visited from SC and met Pam the first visit and she was amazing. She's the kind of bartender you would want for this type of saloon! She was informative and gave us lots of history lessons. The second visit was Mr. Yates, again great service, and full of information. Would recommend the local beer, we had the Wild Bill Mild and Madame Margarette. If you get a chance, try the Whisky, you won't regret it. But like the sign says, the liquor is based on 1876 and they don't serve Jack, Jim, or Tito's. :) Also, Dog Friendly.

We had an incredible experience at the Social Club! We didn't expect everything to be so good! We chose to go there because it was one of the only places in Deadwood with a vegan option, but our non vegan friends liked it so much, they came back with us the second day!

My parents celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary wanting to cut cost being a group of 17 we decided we would only eat out once on our 4 day vacay. With the help of Kim the Eagle Bar and steakhouse did not disappoint. We stopped in on Sunday Labor Day weekend. Our waiter Kim was amazing, fast, super friendly and entertaining! The burgers were good, the fried green beans were amazing!! My husband hates green beans but said he’d eat those any day. Tasted like they used fresh out of the garden green beans. the Long Island iced teas were strong. Really only down side was we had the tables with benches and they was uncomfortable but we also traveled 10hrs. My father wanted to speak to the manger to praise Kim but he was out. We turned around and walked out. We fully intended to spend some money in this place, and I guess their staff isn’t interested in making sales. Came to Deadwood to celebrate our birthdays (3 birthdays within a week) and went to the Fairmont for one of the "nightly ghost tours" and we wanted to pay early and take the tour at the time it was advertised. I don't really understand the decor here or the menu. The whole thing seems lost. Why is there a tiki bar inside but there is nothing tiki about this place otherwise. We only had the pizza, which was a great pizza for late night. We had a few oyster shooters which were okay but I had a hard time with the oysters which did not taste fresh at all. But they were huge. I didn't feel comfortable ordering any other seafood, and the menu is so empty looking with no information about any of the dishes. This is largely a bar + casino from what I could tell. Stopped in for a simple dinner, we ordered a pizza. Pizza was pretty good - definitely wayyy too expensive for what you get though. We came and spent the weekend in Deadwood for my Birthday. Let me just say that we went to almost every place on the main strip. The Nugget is by far the best place. The Bartender Spencer has it locked down. His play list is off the chains, his cocktails are better then anywhere ive ever been, not just in Deadwood. The whole bar is a vibe that you have to experience. Dont waste your time anywhere else. This place has great food and an even better selection of cocktails. The Skinny Drop Mule and Old Fashion was our favorite drink all weekend.

Had my first Old Fashioned (really…. I am 60 and from Wisconsin and never had one before). I have lead a sheltered life.

The Nugget is a comfortable place to hang out, enjoy a top notch cocktail, and eat some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. In contrast to the abundance of noisy, dimly lit, and cramped bars lining the streets of Deadwood, The Nugget is spacious and airy, with vaulted ceilings and natural light from the large windows. Great selection of music playing, but quiet enough that you can relax and comfortably carry on a conversation. Our bartender Tripp was talented and professional, and really an amazing guy to talk to. We stayed for several hours and had a great time!
