The Sofitel staff were so incredible with this situation, before we had even arrived they had organised accommodation at a nearby hotel at half price and completely comped the 3rd night at the Sofitel itself. Not only that but they went out of their way to hand deliver a charcuterie board and a lovely bottle of champagne at our replacement accommodation as a an apology. When we finally did get to the Sofitel on our third night, they kindly came to our other hotel to hand collect our bags and transfer them for us. A second charcuterie board and sparkling wine were also complimentary along with breakfast and dinner too. The hotel itself was lovely, we had one of the newly renovated rooms which are gorgeous and very nicely appointed. We have already booked another stay as 1 night was not enough! I think this is the first 2-star review I’ve ever written and I don’t do this lightly but this wasn’t the premium experience that was advertised on their website and on their Booking.com profile. The place feels more like a motel than a 4 star resort. The apartment was in dire need of a renovation. Just to give a few examples, the toilet was rather old, the doors needed another layer of paint and care, the aircon was very very old and really noisy... A couple of things broke, mainly the microwave and the portacot where my baby slept. Then there was the issue with cleanliness. I dropped something that rolled under the bed and when I went to retrieve it I realised there was a really thick layer of dust sitting there. Clearly that area hadn’t been vacuumed in a long time, which is quite worrying, particularly when staying with a baby. I flagged it and it took over 24h to get a team in to clean it properly. So, all in all, I spent my 5 days there flagging issues and waiting for them to be resolved. This was also made more complicated by the fact that reception is only open limited hours and the housekeeping and maintenance crews are also there very limited hours.
