Visited The Buffalo History Museum during our recent trip to Buffalo and had a great experience. There is no set entry fee—visitors can choose their own, though they suggest $10. The museum is well-organized, with some truly impressive art pieces. If you visit, make sure not to miss the basement, which features a beautiful art gallery and exhibits from the 1800s and 1900s. I appreciated how they’ve preserved the special moments and history of the city. The Japanese garden at the back is also a must-see! Visited The Buffalo History Museum with my family. There is no entry fees and it’s optional if the tourist wants to give or not. We paid 24 USD for 2 adults and kids free. The museum gives brief history about Indigenous settlement in Buffalo-Niagara encampment, establishment of Buffalo city and its evolution over the course of time, artifacts display found in the region, a detailed history of Pam-American Exposition in the early 1900s and display of various sports teams from Buffalo region and the contribution being made over the period. The museum has rich history in display. It took 4 hours to complete the entire museum as we were looking each artifact display & reading its content. A worth visiting this museum. The place is very clean and staffs are friendly. Thank you Buffalo History Museum for showcasing the heritage.

This is a small and funky yet fascinating museum. I stopped by because of its connection to the 1901 Pan-American Exposition and not only did I see very informative exhibits and artifacts from the fair but also some other interesting pieces of Buffalo History that I did not know. Like for instance, I’m not much of a sports guy so I had no idea OJ Simpson played for the Bills (I knew he played pro football I just didn’t know the team), and found it legitimately amusing and understandable that they only barely alluded to what Most people know him for now. This place is 100% worth checking out to see all sorts of intriguing things and learn about local history.

When in the area one must visit the Buffalo History Museum to learn about the history of the area and the Pan Am Expo of 1901. The building itself is most impressive inside and out. We enjoyed seeing the interesting displays on both floors of the museum while listening to the most beautiful live piano music. That was a real treat. Parking is free and one may visit the Japanese Gardens at the same time.

We visited the Buffalo History Museum during our vacation in the middle of August. A very nice museum with history about Buffalo. It is 3 floors (special exhibit on bottom floor) with stairs and an elevator. Behind the museum is a statue of Abraham Lincoln and a walking path around the lake. The admission is pay what you wish, but a recommended admission is $12. There is a little gift shop by the entrance to the museum.

I really enjoyed exploring this beautiful museum. I learned a lot about the history of Buffalo here. The statue of President Lincoln facing the pond was my favourite. There’s so much to see here so make sure you come early! The staff at the front desk are super nice and helpful.

Incredible and affordable spot to take wedding photos! to take photos inside, the cost is extremely affordable for any bride on a budget while also getting the most breathtaking photos and scenery. My nephew got married here on October 5th and wow, what a beautiful place. I think the only thing that could be improved would be the parking situation, but that's really out of their hands so I am still giving them five stars. I wish I had better pictures but, didn't have a lot of time and the bride and the groom had a very strict no picture policy, but I really wish I had gotten a picture of the outside.

We saw a small, curated display of documents all related to music. Beautiful laid out on red velvet and well lit, there were hand written letters and sheet music from some of the most famous classical artists in German, French, and English. There was a smaller display of documents relating to the Titanic that the gentleman (the docent maybe?) explained had been put out to accommodate some school tours and homeschool co-ops. We had the place all to ourselves on a Sunday afternoon, which was lovely. I noticed there was a small area set aside that a child could play at. Also the building has amazing acoustics, which I discovered when I had a sneezing fit that echoed beautifully all around. I would definitely recommend taking a half hour to check out the display. You can also easily make a donation (they have a QR code in the vestibule if you don't have cash).

My grandson was married at the Karpeles, late December. What a lovely venue for a wedding. The Curator, Chris, was a tremendous help with it all. I really enjoyed the historical manuscripts on display (WWII) and look forward to visiting for the new exhibits. What a gem in our own backyard!

If in the Buffalo I would recommend taking a drive through lovely Forest Lawn Cemetery. One may park in different areas and walk around. The cemetery is well kept and there are many beautiful monuments and stones. There was even a group of white tailed deer there when we visited.

We decided to go here since we had a few hours to kill before our flight out if Buffalo. It was worth it. This cemetery is over 200 acres and has a lot of history. Rick James is buried here...but more important historical figures are as well. The monuments are so huge, varied and beautiful. Very sorry now, as I found out that they are permitting events related to a festival (nothing to do with those laid to rest there) IN the cemetery, albeit on an unoccupied section. What a treat it was to go the museum today with my family. The Burchfield has great variety in their exhibits, which are thoughtfully curated and hung. The gift shop was a fun experience too. I took the 75-minute tour today and absolutely loved it. Lou was my guide and he did a great job. I've been to around a dozen or so Frank Lloyd Wright properties, and this was the most spectacular. The property is sprawling, the home is meticulously restored, and the landscaping is so beautiful. This is a must do in Buffalo for any architectural buffs.

We took the 2 hr tour. Parking is in the surrounding streets and watch the signage for allowed days and times. Tickets were on every car illegally parked. The house is obviously impressive and massive. Being fairly tall, I really didn't care for the areas with low ceilings that were intended by wright to either move you along or to sit down. Interior woodworking was impeccable and outside construction flawless. The guide seemed focused on minute details of the owners life and family rather than the house. But it was informative and very well run.

Frank Lloyd Wright architecture lovers will be very excited to see the restoration and current condition of this beautiful piece of residential art! Every detail was understood and perfectly restored to its original condition. Part of the house and an adjacent FLW home were destroyed in the past and all of it was rebuilt to exacting details and materials.
As soon as you step into the home, it takes your breath away with sights, lights and sounds like no other home. It is not Renaissance grand, but it is FLW grand and I like that better. The warmth of the woods, the glass that makes the light talk to you and the art all over the house secretly disguised as furniture are all amazing.
The docents were professional, very knowledgeable that provided just enough time for guests to stop walk around and take it all in. They answered questions politely with additional stories about the family and additional history bits.
There are several choices of options for the tour with progressively longer and more complete tours of the home, adjacent buildings, and grounds.
I highly recommend touring this Frank Lloyd Home in Buffalo!

Very glad I stopped in here. The staff were amazing, very knowledgeable and seem to really enjoy the history here. As someone coming from Michigan and being familiar with Henry Ford it was really cool to see another side of the evolution of automobiles. During our Easter vacation trip from Toronto to Buffalo, we decided to spend a day at the Buffalo Museum of Science—and we’re so glad we did! It turned out to be one of the highlights of our family getaway.
The museum offers the perfect balance of education and fun, especially for families with young children. From the moment we entered, our kids were excited and engaged. There are interactive exhibits, hands-on experiments, and themed sections covering everything from space and dinosaurs to health, energy, and insects.

We visited the Buffalo Museum of Science during our vacation in August. There are 4 floors in the museum and there are stairs or elevators to each floor. Inside the museum there are many exhibits to look at and ones to participate in. We had fun with all the interactive exhibits and programs ( some were not working) and learning about Science related to electricity, weather, animals etc. The staff were polite and professional during our visit. There is a fee ( under $20) for the admission.

This was an alright museum with some interesting things like Dinosaurs and even a Fiji Mermaid that was shown at the 1901 Pan-American Exposition, as well as some neat interactive exhibits, but it’s mostly just stuff for kids and the museum is kinda small.

An amazing experience. We assumed this would be a quick walk around a small building, and we were pleasantly surprised to be wrong. The volunteers give you a guided tour and explain everything in great detail. Our guide had an answer for every question and was so knowledgeable. We stayed after the tour and browsed some more, bought t-shirts and chatted with the retired firefighters outside before leaving. It was an amazing experience. Highly recommend. (It would be an amazing place for field trips and homeschool families as well.)

I took my almost 5 year old grandson here today who is absolutely crazy for fire trucks. This is a small but well-stocked museum staffed by very knowledgeable retired firefighters who volunteer their time. They have turn out gear that the kids can try on and a fire truck simulator that puts them in the driver seat of a fire truck driving to a fire. Quite the interesting place, I didn’t even know that they existed until I just happened to be driving by and seen it was open. I had my daughter with me at the time and she loved it as well, this place is chock full of many amazing and historical items, it definitely blew my mind. I have to say my favorite was the polar bear. He was active and so cute ! Very clean zoo. The baby goat are clean. I literally have nothing bad to say about this zoo. It wasn't even crowded. At the time when we visited they has beautiful lantern art up as well which we loved. The giraffe was also a highlight for my kids as well. Mostly learning g some cool fun facts from the staff made it even more cool. Definitely loved how educational and fast given the staff was throughout.

Our first trip to the Buffalo Zoo as we were passing through the area was great. A smaller zoo but with plenty of animals to see. It is an older zoo, 150 years old, and some areas are very dated, but you can see they are working to update all the areas. They were setting up for the Zoo Lantern Festival that looks like it is going to be amazing. We spent about 4 hours at the zoo and still didn't get to everything. This zoo may be small in size but it is really nice. They have so many cool animals like Hyenas, Snow Monkeys, Seals, Polar Bears and of course Buffalo, as well as so much more. The Hyena I saw was so cute. Also apparently I went there while they were celebrating their 150th anniversary so there were a bunch of big light up displays and animal figures. A wonderful zoo with friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging staff. The zoo is very easy to navigate and isn't so large that you feel like you can't see everything in a timely manner. My wife and I purchased the giraffe encounter and that was just the icing on the cake. I wanted to like the Buffalo Zoo, but the whole place gave me mixed feelings. They’ve got arctic animals sitting in 90-degree heat like they accidentally booked a vacation to Florida instead of Buffalo. The renovations are stunning — the new spaces are bright, modern, and incredibly welcoming. Never disappoints! The AKG is where I was first inspired by art, and it’s priceless to see that light shine in the little ones I now bring there. Creativity is ALIVE here, through excellent curation, community interaction, and convivial staff. The building is so well designed and has the most beautiful park views in Buffalo. Pro tip: head to The Terrace afterwards (a restaurant right across from the back entrance by the lake) for a more relaxed meal and cocktails than Cornelia. There’s a beautiful view of the original museum exterior from the restaurant and you’ll walk amongst some outdoor sculptures on your way.

Buffalo provides a respectable modern art experience for visitors. You will not find any ancient artifacts at the AGK since they were auctioned off to fund the shift to modern art. You will have to go to the MAG in Rochester or to NYC and visit The Met for those experiences. That aside, there are some significant pieces of art by Rodin, Dali, Warhol, Pollock, Kahlo, Matisse, Kandinsky, Seurat, Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh & Cezanne. I'm not a fan of modern art in particular, but I do appreciate the opportunity to discover new artists that I enjoy like Mickalene Thomas , Gary Simmons or Frank Moore. The collection of art by more widely known artists makes it worth the trip, even if you're not a fan of modern art. Other reviewers have mentioned how security tends to hover over visitors and I did notice that on our visit. It was a bit odd at first, but I decided to ignore it and not let it bother me. Our stop at the cafe was a pleasant experience. We enjoyed our cappuccino, latte, and scone, which were well made and fresh. The staff was friendly and helpful. A map of the museum with exhibit locations should be provided for visitors, but we were not offered one and there wasn't an up to date digital copy available.

We had such a fun day at Explore & More! The kids had an amazing time exploring all the interactive exhibits- from pretending to get an MRI (cutest setup ever!) to milking a cow and running up to the 3rd floor for even more hands-on fun. Every floor had something new and exciting to discover.

Love this place so much that we got a membership! If you got a Buffalo science museum membership or vise versa they will give you a discount for the other! The negatives I have to say at no fault of their own would be that there is no free parking. Lowest cost will be $5 for all day parking unless theres a game going on and then it goes up to roughly $16 according to the info at the front desk. The other downside is the hrs I do wish It was open for longer hours but thats still okay! This place is incredible! The people working there are very nice and its nice seeing them clean often! The bathrooms are clean and in general feels clean. Def bring your kiddo!

Our visit to the Iron Island Museum this past weekend for a private paranormal investigation was an absolute blast! Our friendly and extremely knowledgeable host Lisa walked us through the entire property and shared many interesting stories and historical facts about the site.
Once our initial tour had concluded, Lisa was exceptionally generous with her vast array of paranormal investigation equipment, and was very helpful in pointing out the locations on the property where she had experienced activity in the past.
We spent several hours in every part of the property and had a great deal of success during our investigation. We were thrilled to experiment with some equipment that is not part of our collection, and some great tools we had never encountered before, including a motion sensing Dinosaur toy which was great fun.
Our time spent here was absolutely one of the best paranormal investigation experiences we've had and know we will return as soon as we can.

There is tons of history in this building and while we didn't see any paranormal activity, we want to book an overnight stay soon to do some investigating. This museum is a gem. It is fantastic for the buffalo lover and a great stop for those who like the strange and mysterious. Built in the 1800s orginally a church, it them became a funeral home in the 1950s. It had several funeral home names/owners until it was donated by one of the funeral home owners to a local woman who created a wonderful neighborhood museum. Filled with neighborhood items, buffaloian items, military uniforms, relics such as from the titanic, crystal beach, and central terminal and even funerary antiques. Clearly a labor of love, the Rail Museum has a fine collection of photos and exhibits from what once made Buffalo wealthy. We visited for the Cherry Blossom Fesitval spring 2025. Beautiful place to see. There were tons of people for the festival. I would love to visit again in the summer after all the other trees and bushes have their leaves or flowers.

After passing by on my walks downtown many times, I finally made it into this museum and I wasn’t disappoint! The displays were phenomenal and the volunteer workers were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It’s not a very big place, but if you take a deep dive into the individual displays you could easily get lost for hours. The historic items and photographs are well presented. They also have many models of historic ships and grain elevators. The best part about it is that it is FREE! They do accept donations, which I gladly provided, and I bought a bottle that one of their divers found on the bottom of the harbor. If you are in to Buffalo history, I highly recommend this museum.

My fiancé and I visited the museum yesterday. It's relatively small contained to a single floor with stairs from the front to get in.
It is absolutely packed with interesting items and descriptions. We also had Tim (I hope I'm remembering his name correctly) as a volunteer, he was a wealth of knowledge and did his best to answer any questions we had and elaborated on many of the pieces already there. He did an amazing job and really made our experience enjoyable!
The museum is free, there is a guest book I would recommend using, and if you enjoy yourself, donations are welcome.

If I could give The Nash House Museum 10 stars, I would. There's no words to explain how special this history is and I feel so privileged to have access to it. I encourage Every Buffalonian to visit and experience walking into a time machine...it was mind blowing and even brought tears to my eyes. My kids and I are going to visit again because you can't take it all in at once... God Bless the Nash Family legacy and the Michigan Street Baptist Church legacy.

My husband and I went to visit the Nash House today and we had an amazing time. After watching a video we were able to go upstairs and see the actual living quarters. The way this history has been preserved is something that everyone should see. There are so many original items that have been saved for more years than either of us have been alive and whenever we travel we love learning about the history of the place! My son, 9 & nephew, 12 both had a good time on the tour. So it's a great museum for the entire family.

Seeing the Bison's for Star Wars Night has become a family tradition for us. Our son is 6, and he loves seeing the fireworks and meeting the characters. What they do on Star Wars Night is just magical- there are so many adults that come, dress up, engage with the kids, take pics with them, and of course, create the videos, and perform in the massive on-field light saber fight! Their dedication and time is what makes this event an amazing, must-see each year.
Buffalo is truly blessed to have this team- we get to watch pretty good baseball (Ok, this year it was a blowout and we lost!) and more importantly- a family can go to a game, indulge in allll the goodies, and NOT go broke! We always get hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy- you name it. We FEAST! It's once a year, so we go all out- and honestly, we don't break the bank. There is NO professional baseball game you can watch where you can go, get tickets, buy all the food you want, and afford it. But here, we can enjoy everything to the fullest and all for less than probably one ticket to a Blue Jays game =D.
Whether you like sports or baseball or not, it's a good time. If you are not a baseball fan, you should go to a game where there is a theme- take your dog to the park, Star Wars, etc. Because even if you don't enjoy the game, you will enjoy the experience and it's a fun way to spend an evening or afternoon.
I simply adore going to see the Bisons, and I hope my son continues to love to go, so we can keep this tradition going.

Went on the walking Silo tour on the Buffalo River. Our tour guide Dan was excellent, very knowledgeable and pleasant. He'd worked in the Cereal silos for years, is on the Board of Directors for a local museum, and did a great job taking us thru the silos and surrounding grounds while explaining current and past history. A must see! This museum has it all!! I spent two hours watching, reading and LISTENING to everything. The history of Buffalo jazz includes many famous people, including Dizzy Gillespie and George Washington Jr.
It's a very small place but they squeeze so much information into it. Lots of hands on so it's great for kids and adults alike.
Also the Director, George, was welcoming and explained how the museum worked before I got started.
I went to the Club upstairs last night (Thursdays@8pm) and it was free and so fun listening to their Big Band practicing and playing great music. There are not a lot of places you can hear that anymore; a real treat!

I had been wanting to visit for some time and finally got my chance today. Who would have known that I would walk in there to find out that admission was free today thanks to Common Council President Darius G. Pridgen. The museum is full of such rich history and is awe-inspiring for muscians and all lovers of music. We watched a short documentary and were given a tour by Mr. Blunt. It’s hit or miss: in 2023 I walked out without buying anything and in 2024 I was able to find a few great clothing items that fit me and looked good on me. My husband and I were in town to honestly just get him some sponge candy before heading up to Niagara falls but we loved checking out buffalo! The observation deck and the entire city hall was beautiful. Just as we were getting there a free tour was starting that they let us jump in on. I think it was through explore buffalo they said but apparently they have tons of other tour options too. The guides were great! It really helped give more understanding to what the design intentions were. The tour also allowed us into areas that we never would have known of or would have ever gotten into before. For instance we got to meet the mayor and see his office! It was beautiful and he was a super nice man. Overall, definitely come to see this when you're in town! Even if you don't take the tour (which I highly recommend) it is still a sight to see. The outside is beautiful and the observation deck gives a full 360 view.

Great place! Readily accessible, but confusing. I would have taken a star away for the confusing procedure for entering the facility, BUT the people were GREAT! Because of the people, I put the star back. Really tremendous and patient people were helpful for an inexperienced person such as myself trying to access the facilities.
First, the parking.... If you know the area, you can probably use the street to park and save a few bucks. However, for someone such as myself that does not go there regularly just use the parking garage. Keep it simple, then just follow the signs, they are clear enough to get you in. The route I took to enter the building, is NOT wheelchair friendly. It is accessible, but because of the inclines, it is not friendly. You will need help, unless your chair is motorized. Bring someone that can help you. The hills aren't steep, but the inclines are pretty much constant. The facility IS wheelchair accessible, but the inclines are constant and a challenge. There may be another, better route for people in chairs, I just don't know it and can't speak to it.
Once inside, OMG! I would still be looking for my way around! That's why I would take a star away, but this is when the helpful people come into the review and I return the star. When I was going in, people's work shift was about to begin so the foot traffic was tremendous! At this point, I had voices talking to me from all around guiding me. I honestly never saw the faces of most of the voices. I just listened and let them tell me what to do. That made it go MUCH smoother and I wasn't as much of a nuisance to them trying to get to work! I let them guide me. My companion was also experienced in navigating the system, so once again, I just let the voices guide me. Once through the entrance, it got much easier, BUT for inexperienced people accessing the facility, READ THE SIGNS! They will get you to where you need to go, then follow the directions of the people on what to do. I am an insanely curious person that wonders why things are in place, but I set those thoughts aside and followed everyone's directions blindly. My experience was seamless because of that.
So, to sum up my novella, if you can get an experienced companion to go with you, do it! If not, give yourself extra time, and follow the signs while parking and use the garage! Entering the building, let the people guide you and DON'T ASK WHY! Just do it! (Sorry Nike, you said it best). Good luck! Stay safe and your experience will be trouble free.....
