I can't fault the meal but as we were leaving a member of staff came running after us saying we hadn't paid , which was very embarrassing as there was people at reception. Very uncreative and felt like a pretty cheap alternative. Definitely not worth the afternoon tea price. Sandwiches actually received were all a mixture of vegan cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion....no humous, salsa or seaweed in sight. Vegan cream for the scone would not be difficult or even expensive, even a squirt of vegan squirty cream would be more thoughtful than nothing. Despite booking nearly a year in advance I still paid upwards of £600 for a two night stay (not including breakfast). Whilst I appreciate accommodation is at a premium during marathon weekend and prices inflated as a result, I still feeling this represents extremely poor value for money. We were allocated a room in the annex directly above the function room. Upon checking in we were helpfully told an event would be taking place that night and hopefully there wouldn’t be “too much noise”. The B&B Hotel Inverness was perfectly located and walkable to multiple shops, pubs/bars, and restaurants. WiFi was fine also although as with 90% of hotels, unprotected so VPN required. Kettle and small selection of tea & coffee available, bed was rather soft but massive & i still had a good sleep. The only minor inconveniences inside the apartment were that one of the bathrooms didn't have a shower - just a tub - and also, the washer/dryer is the type where the dryer only really works well for very small loads. Also, people with mobility issues should note that there are a some small stairs inside the apartment (one or two steps down into the bed areas and the lounge areas). The problems with this place are: 1) Inconsistency in the passcode to open your room and access to the garage. I needed to contact their service call center twice. It is annoying if it does not work consistently. 2) The rooms get too warm. There is heat, but no AC. That would be fine if you could open the windows, but all windows are fixed; only if you open the terrace doors can you get flow of cooler air and adequate ventilation. Only problem is, you cannot leave them open overnight (the terrace is a shared space). 3) The washer/dryer had an intense mold smell. I would avoid as we did, otherwise it might permanently taint your clothes. I would not book this location again knowing what I know now. For the price I paid, it is a disappointment.

My only comment is that the floor and our apartment are kept very warm at about 25 degrees celsius with all the heati g turned off. That was OK except it was hot for sleeping. 20 degrees would be better. We would stay here again and Inverness is now a favourite city for me.

The host Kath, was very helpful making sure all her guests had everything they need on arrival and through out our stay. Breakfast was severed in the dining room which was decorated well and had a nice homely feel. I had the continental breakfast which there was plenty of and Cath was very accommodating to guest requirements. Highly recommended and when I am back in the area I will be using Eskdale again.
