It was written by Langston Hughes in a narrative by one of his characters. Mr. Rickman (who is the co-owner and is the elderly Black man mentioned by other reviewers) was intent on selling me a book sight unseen, which I didn't want to do because it might not have been the book I was looking for. He was incredibly aggressive, not letting me finish explaining what I wanted, grabbing my arm in an effort to silence me, going on about 'helping Black children', pointing to posters and asking me' Do you know that person? Do you know this person?'. Finally I said, "I'm sorry but would you please let me finish speaking?" He literally turned and walked away from me, angry. At that point, I was done and I left. As a Black woman I try to support Black-owned businesses, especially bookstores. And I was looking forward to shopping there, in fact, I came the day before and it was closed so I made a second trip today. It's actually the kind of bookstore I like: kind of jumbled stacks of books and paraphernalia. But I will not go back. Mr. Rickman's behavior was so bizzare that I wondered if there was something wrong with him. And maybe that's the answer. Because no one who wants to make a success of a business acts in the manner he did. Very sad. I'll be looking for Octavia Butler and Langston Hughes books elsewhere.

Most importantly I need to mention the wonderful staff, including a very personable and fun Glen that educated us about the exhibits and how to use them so we can get the best out of our experience - I haven’t been this creative and had that much fun in a really, really long time.
