We stayed in a 3-person private room, which came with a full/queen bed and a twin bed, plus a private bathroom and A/C. Wifi was available in the common areas. For the price we paid, it was much more than what we could've asked for. I would definitely recommend staying at this hostel if you're thinking about visiting Tamarindo and are on a budget!

Regarding rooms we actually had a bad experience we were there for 2 night and both night were very noisy. The worse part was that its from the same people that live there and take care of location. Both nights were noisy, I mean NOISY people yelling like it was day time and banging on something. The 1st room they had given us, the door did not lock. They moved us to room 4, I believe. This room was old, on every aspect. There was NO Hot water. Which I guess they think its not needed since it was hot but after all day in the water its nice to have a warm shower. The room completely needs to be renovated, At least a paint to give it a refresher. The receptionist was great, he gave us lots of information as where to eat or go shopping. The soda outside of the hostel is great. The walk to the beach couldn't be better. Good parking situation. The location and proximity to everything was terrific. The beds are comfortable and how lucky to have ac in the rooms. There isn't hot water or much pressure, it's a very bare bones experience. We did have some screens for our room that could use repair. The whole staff was so accommodating and wanted to do everything they could to make this a good experience. The woman who does cleaning was always kind and working very hard. It is a hostel, people, not a hotel, the standards are different. Definitely a bare bones experience but I really didn't find the place to be dirty. I would stay here again, just needs some infrastructure updates to have a higher score on the room.

Walls were all dirty and smudged. The shower wouldn't drain properly leaving our bathroom with an unpleasant odor during our stay. Beds aren't super comfortable. Our door handle also broke midway during our stay so we had to move to another room for one night while they got it fixed. Wins were the great location in Tamarindo. So close to everything! Nice relaxing terraces/balconies with cute seating. Kitchen was clean but poorly stocked. They had a great system for storing food, each room had a cupboard to themselves. The pool was very dirty, the place didn't have much comfortable seating, there were alot of ants in our room, nesting in the doorframe and the toilet just barely worked. The beach is rocky directly in front of the resort but just a five minute walk and the sand is soft. I really liked the layout of the hotel grounds with several buildings spread out throughput a jungle like garden. It was lovely to walk down a path through the grounds to our building. The resort was also small enough that you get to know the other guests. Now where the resort could do with some improvements is the food and drink accessibility and variety. There are only 3 restaurants, the buffet and 2 a la carte. But you're only allowed to book each one once and only 1 per 3 nights of stay. We were there 9 nights so had to eat at the buffet for 7 of those nights. Also, the buffet has very limited hours. Breakfast is 7 to 10am. Lunch 12 to 3pm. And supper 7pm to 10pm. If you have kids or even if someone who likes to eat dinner earlier 3pm to 7pm is a long time to wait for supper! Also, they start shutting things down like the coffee machines or refilling food stations well before closing time. The food was very similar each day too. Checkin was very annoying. Our flight arrived at 7am and we arrived at the hotel at 9am and they made us wait till 3pm to checkin even though this same flight and package deal happens daily. So we're paying for that full night but not getting the room for the entire night so I think they need to adjust their checkin policy to accommodate the flight times.
