Doug and AnnaMarie were the best, but the staff was (and still is) top notch too. Unfortunately the owners seem to take a different view of what’s important in a B&B, and some of the things, some little and some big, have slowly disappeared. We stayed there a few times post the Doug and AnnaMarie era and overall were satisfied, though the personal conversation and interactions were definitely missing. Today we were in Cape May and stopped in to inquire about rates and to see if they could tell us when mattresses in the few ground floor rooms we could stay in (because of limited mobility) were last replaced. It was nauseating.Nobody was at the desk. A female worker was vacuuming the carpet in the living room and barely looked up. I rang the buzzer and waited. Nobody came. I tried to ask the young woman vacuuming but there was a language barrier. In all the years we stayed there, not one single time was there nobody available. While our room did not have a tub, it did have a decently sized shower with a rainfall shower head. Good water pressure and the soaps smell and feel great. This room is located on the top floor of this grand old house and although warned of the very steep back staircase to get to this room, it was a work out, especially carrying luggage up and down. Unfortunately, our AC unit was not working the first night but when we called Victoria, the innkeeper, she came to our room to check and had it repaired the next morning. She also offered to let us stay in another room for the night if it got too uncomfortable. The staff was very welcoming and courteous. The breakfasts were delicious, freshly prepared and individually served. We especially liked the “afternoon tea” as well, with house baked treats each day. It was neat, clean and nicely furnished. The Blue Pig restaurant on site was awesome. The skillet for breakfast was my favorite. Carrot juice was delish. Its best to get there early as it gets packed fast. Congress Hall is super close to restaurants and shops and walking is the best way to navigate everything. The beach is across the street and they provide towels and beach chairs and umbrellas. You can even order food and beverages on the beach was was very affordable. The Perry Suite is great if you are looking for a home away from home. It has space and the convenience of all full kitchen. So why just a one star review? The shower was a huge inconvenience our entire vacation and was never addressed after making concierge aware. The shower head points directly out of the shower door and was not adjustable to point down or away from the door. Even with the door “closed” (see pictures), puddles and puddles of water continuously leaks out onto the shower floor. The Perry Suite is designed with families in mind. The owner has really thought through every need and incorporated it in the design and amenities in the rooms. We were in Room 201 which is a studio. We loved the quality of the bed linens and robes (I'll be buying some for our own home!). The coffee that you can make in your room is some of the best I've tasted. I'm very picky about liking light cream (not half and half) in my coffee. Usually when I travel, I know I'm not going to get what I have at home, but low and behold, we arrived the first day to find light cream in the fridge waiting for us! I knew then that I was in love. The location can't be beat. The beach is steps away. Beach service is provided, so all you need to bring is a book and sunscreen. If you don't want to be at the beach, the pool is nice and relaxing. There were other guests using the pool with their children when we were there. Everyone was very friendly and considerate. Some nice touches: the toilet is in its own room, the shower turns on at the far end of the shower so you don't get wet turning it on, they provide a Yeti cooler and tumblers for the pool/beach, the tv has Netflix provided. We come to Cape May every year or two and have wondered for awhile about that one, vibrant building by the beach. This trip, we decided to pull the trigger and stay here, after having stayed at beach view hotels every trip prior. I think I’d gotten in my head previously about needing to see the beach while we were in Cape May, but I always left feeling a little bit disappointed that every other stay had me 😍 over the place but 😕 over the hotels we’ve stayed in. Walking distance to the Washington Street Mall and all of our favorite restaurants and literally steps from the beach. When you’re not out exploring, it’s an oasis. The room was so comfortable - from the couch and dining area by day to the beds at night, there was no spot in that hotel room where we didn’t feel completely at home. My toddler even asked why our house doesn’t look like “our vacation house” 😂. We cooked meals in the well-stocked kitchen; ate dinners on the deck, enjoying the breeze; and splashed in the pool with our little girls (3 years and 9 months, respectively). We washed laundry, watched shows, went for walks. We felt like we lived in Cape May, and we loved it. Everything was so beautiful, but I appreciated most how practical it was, and how attentive the Lokal team has been to making their guests have comfortable stays. We felt completely at home, as did our kids. There is something very special about Cape May, and there is something very special about Lokal. One missing star for a moldy air conditioner, and one missing star for seagulls swimming and pooping all over the side of the pool and in the pool. This is a solid motel that's extremely clean and well kept, with very sweet and accommodating staff and a surprisingly large, sparkling blue swimming pool. (원문) My husband and I stayed here for one night in October for our anniversary and it was amazing. The inn was immaculate as was the room! The room was beautifully painted and had an awesome shower. Happy hour apps and drinks were great and Wendy made us reservations at a great restaurant ( Tish’s Fine Dining) which was only a $5 Uber trip from the Inn and also gave us recommendations for a couple places to go after. The next morning we had a wonderful egg pizza and amazing cornbread. Also they had an extensive selection of fresh juices and I can’t remember what I got but it was delicious 😀 also had a nice chat with Laura. The Inn is a short walk to the boardwalk and while it was too cold for the beach we took a nice walk enjoying the scenery.The personal touches and service set the Mission Inn apart from other B&Bs. (원문) We stayed in Cottage A for one night! Parking was onsite extremely helpful. Cottage A/B are separate from the big house but you do have access to the big house. Full kitchen and bathroom in our cottage. Now aesthetics are important to us which is why we chose Buttonwood but I hold comfort to an equal standard. Unfortunately the bed was not that comfortable, I could have dealt with it honestly but the actual bed frame was insanely squeaky unfortunately. We did not communicate this with the owners because we didn’t notice until we were laying down for the night and truly just wanted to sleep at this point. We did communicate with the owners about an oven issue which didn't really cause issue for our stay as we just used to microwave instead but they answered within an hour or 2 to fix the problem. The Cottage was beautiful decorative though, has an updated TV and kitchen, bathroom while small was nice as well.
