Shatila is full of life. The moment you walk in, you feel like you’re somewhere special. It’s busy, loud, and packed with people trying to get their hands on some sweets. There’s a ticket machine to take a number, but no one really waits for their number to be called. Everyone just kind of crowds the counter and hopes to get noticed. It feels a little chaotic, but somehow the staff keeps everything moving and you get helped pretty quickly.
I picked up a half-pound mixed box to take back to Dallas. they did pack the box very well when I told them that I will be taking it home. Some of the desserts come with syrup... I wish they had packets instead of containers that would be easier to take on the plane. Shatila wasn’t cheap, but the quality is honestly incredible. Every piece feels fresh, rich, and made with care. You can tell they don’t cut corners with ingredients.
While I was there, I saw a lot of people ordering this pistachio sweet cream dessery, so I grabbed one to try. It was excellent. Light and creamy with that perfect pistachio flavor. Definitely something I’d get again.
The whole place has this energetic but welcoming vibe. It might feel a little overwhelming at first with how busy it gets, but once you taste the sweets, it all makes sense. Shatila really lives up to its reputation.

The Baklawa with pistachios and with nuts, fried Katayef with walnuts and with qachtah, Barazeh, ice cream, freshly made unsweetened juices especially the pomegranate juice, Turkish coffee prepared for each order and last but not least the shredded halawat jiben.
My least favorite is:
The kinefeh which I prefer and highly recommend to eat it at Lebon sweet. Because Shatila doe not keep it hot and reheat it in microwave. I will not eat a reheated Kinefeh in a microwave. Then The flavor and quality decrease drastically.

This place was better than expected. We did have one piece of cake that was somewhat dry but everything else delicious and the prices were cheaper than expected. I visited Shatila Bakery based on strong recommendations and even went out of my way to try their baklava—but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype for me. The baklava was just average and not as flavorful or rich as I expected. Most items are sold by the piece ($1.50–$2.50) or by the pound, and I found the pricing a bit steep, especially for what you get.
I also tried the cream kunafa (around $12 for a small portion)—again, not very impressive. The desserts came with sugar syrup on the side, which makes them quite bland if you don’t pour it generously.

Been to Shatila Bakery four times now they have a good variety of Arabic/ middle eastern sweets, ice cream and some hot breakfast items too. We came early this time about 7-7:30am best time no crowd! and the best part no parking lot shenanigans either!
I had their kunafa it was okay kinda luck warm it's supposed to be hot...even the pastries were kinda stale the only thing that was done right was the zaatar pie that was good. There bathrooms are super disgusting!! so weird doesn't make sense because the restaurant is spotless. Service is super shady most times!...you gotta be on point or you'll get past over and cut in front of!

Nabil is absolutely the best and has magic hands. My family and I have always and will always continue to order our cakes from Masri Sweets because Nabil truly makes the best cakes!! This place is really bad, most of the workers are so rude. They lie about everything! They put grounded pumpkin seeds in the sweet acting like it’s pistachio!!! I literally found full seeds on top of my dessert! I have allergies they should be glad I didn’t sue them! Another thing happened is I asked for kunafa the brown one not the orange added color “I’m Middle Eastern so I know the difference“ they didn’t have the one I wanted so they were trying to lie and say the orange one doesn’t have food colouring and they were swearing about it!

The owner showed amazing hospitality, welcoming us warmly and even offering free samples, which really made the visit special. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care.

We recently visited Al Ameera restaurant in Dearborn, Michigan, with a large group, and the service and food were absolutely excellent! It was quite a diverse crowd, including vegetarians, meat-eaters, and several people with food allergies, yet everyone was perfectly accommodated.
The family platter was an all-time favorite, and the falafels were to die for. Having lived in the Middle East many years ago, I can confidently say this was the best Middle Eastern meal I've had since leaving the region in the early 90s. The food is absolutely awful. I went there 2 weeks ago with high expectations. I was served cold food. The meat was stale. The fattoush salad had soggy bread pieces. The hummus had too much salt. The employees were very rude and disrespectful, ESPECIALLY the old one. I walked in and greeted her and she completely ignored me and my wife while giving us dirty looks. If I could give them negative stars for the dirtiness and horrible customer service then I would. They also went and charged me $13 for 2 knafehs when they’re literally $5 on the website including the bread, but I never even received my bread with the knafeh. This is a pretty huge bakery with tons of sweets and other food items. prices are really cheap. They have differnt kinds of breads , pastries , cakes , middle eastern desserts like kinnafa , baklava etc,.
Their Falafels are huge which makes you want to buy them.They have one of the best falafel sandwiches in the area. I would say much closer to the authentic ones.
Chicken shwarma sandwich is just alright . Again same issue where there is lot of meat but less sauce leading to a dry sandwich.
We also tried a lot of tiny vegetarian pasties but they were all kinda same with different filling.
I would definitely recommend getting the falafel sandwich here.

We had chicken schwarma, mujaddara, a spinach stuffed bun, and rice which was so good were so good. The lamb haneeth was falling off the bone. So delicious. Not to mention, the hummus was tasty too.

While visiting Michigan from out of state, I had the pleasure of dining at Sheeba restaurant ,A Taste of Yemen, and it was truly a memorable experience. The moment I walked in, I was welcomed by beautiful, authentic Yemeni decor that instantly made me feel at home.

I went to Hamido Restaurant on Friday for lunch and ordered their Family Platter for Two — and wow, it was easily one of the best Mediterranean meals I’ve had in a long time! The platter came with two soft, fresh naans, perfectly grilled shish kabobs, juicy beef skewers, a generous side of crispy fries, fresh salads, and their signature hummus that’s just out of this world — smooth, creamy, and full of flavor.

The cherry cheesecake was not too thick. I am happy about that. If cheesecake is too tall, it can be rich and overwhelming. Not too rich or nor a failure on taste. Cherries were delicious. Soft texture, light buttercream piped around the ages.
The cake was delicious and the cupcakes too. The cake was fresh tasting that I purchased in the showcase. I love the white chocolate drizzle over the top of the cake. The fruit center was also airy, fluffy texture, and not too sweet. The frosting on the cupcakes was divine. Each different flavor was well worth the trip. Cakes were all soft and fresh. I really do like the frosting. It is light buttercream. Not too sweet. I had a cannoli, and even that was fresh and delicious. I can not wait to get more stuff from here in the upcoming months.
Parking in the front can be a little squirrelly due to parking next to curb on Outer Drive. There may be parking in the back, but I can not say for sure. In the front, when you try to park, be patient. They try to get their customers in and out so it isn't too hard to find parking but some days it is full and some days it is empty.

She helped create our perfect wedding cake that was absolutely delicious, our wedding was over a month ago and we are still getting compliments about the cake. While planning our wedding, my husband and I met with several bakeries in the area which were all good but Iversens was the clear choice and we are so happy with our decision. Not only did it taste great but the design was better than what I could have imagined. Not too sweet or rich, everyone commented on how good the cake was. Great experience using Iversens for both my bridal shower and wedding. We received so many compliments from our friends and family on the taste and even compliments from staff at The Whitney in Detroit and Lovett Hall at Henry Ford. The spinach and cheese croissant needed more flavor to it, but the outside croissant breading was amazing, flaky, and good. The staff was super nice. From start to finish, doing our wedding cake here was an amazing process. We wanted a hybrid of real and fake where the entire bottom layer was real, decorated in a vintage style, and actually tasting good vs. just looking good. It was a complicated order, and it came out perfect.
Suendos was so fun, kind, responsive and understanding. She treated us so well from the beginning of the process to the end, preparing a massive tray of cake of frostings for us to sample before running to the back to whip up biscoff chantilly cream, which wasn't even an original option when we asked if it was possible.

This place was crazy busy but worth the wait. The food came out pipping hot and delicious. The almond chicken was perfect and the lemon chicken dish was equally delicious. I will 100% come back here and try more menu options. The gyro was solid and the lemon rice soup was unique. It came out pipping hot as it should. Smaller restaurant but they are doing it right.

We ordered their Greek salad with lemon chicken soup, the sliced steak with mushrooms soup, crispy chicken wrap but with grilled chicken, spicy pasta, filet mignon wrap!
The steak, wraps, soups and salad were amazing… definitely recommended! The pasta was good but there were too many tomatoes left from the sauce, it would’ve been better with a bread or something similar to complement the dish!

The food at Modern Greek and Salad Bar was absolutely amazing—definitely 5 stars in that department. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. No complaints on the meal itself; for two people with an appetizer and drinks, around $40 felt totally fair.
That said, the service left a lot to be desired. The restaurant felt cramped and poorly organized. They sat two people at a table for six while squeezing five into a table for four. It just felt chaotic and inconsiderate.
Also, the menu was kind of all over the place. While most of the offerings were reasonably priced, the back side had unexpectedly high-end items like a $73 surf and turf and aged steaks that felt totally out of sync with the rest of the casual dining experience.
Great food, but the atmosphere and service need serious improvement.

Food is great. Im actually a regular customer. However, I'm highly disappointed with the treatment of the owners today. My 7 yr old wanted steak and mashed potatoes. The server said the plate was hot and continued to put it at the table in front of my child, after i said the plate was too hot to be served to a 7 year old. The temperature of the glass plate was dangerously hot. So hot my daughters hand barely touched the plate and she screamed in pain. I immediately rushed her to the bathroom and ran cold water to the burns. At this point my food my husband's food and my daughters food were cold. My son had eaten only half of his burger. A waitress came up to me and said the owner said "we will pay your medical bill but you need to pay your food bill". Terrible. Unsympathetic. Insensitive. Inconsiderate. Inappropriate. Shameful. Unbelievable! At that point I didnt feel like arguing and really just wanted to take care of my child. I had a custom wedding cake made and not only did it come out looking and tasting amazing, his price to make it was a lot less than the pastry shops in the surrounding areas. We went for the kebab and stew/Iskender. both come with yellow rice. Very good, good portion and everything is well season. Flavor is a little bit different than the Lebanese or Yemeni food nearby. There wasn't any problem with anything except maybe the price.

Finally had an opportunity to try out the Turkish village !! I have heard about this place a lot than was eagerly waiting to find out the reason behind the popularity.
Restaurant is huge, well decorated and located in heart of Dearborn.
Planing for the restaurant was so poor that I had to walk 4 min in the cold to pick up my carry out !!
No onsite parking with or without pay. You have to cross the street to find a parking spot. There is a parking structure other side of the road which was extremely inconvenient for their customer.
Food was great, to be honest I found the high quality ingredients and top notch kebab like Turkish restaurant in Europe.
Service was terrible, as other recent reviews described, extremely horrible service experience.
For us Garlic sauce is a MUST, when picking up the carry out trays, I reconfirmed if the garlic sauce is there, if not I was willing to pay for two. The girl served me, said it is in the bag. Due to formality I didn’t open the combo bags and after driving it back home which was 35 min drive, we didn’t find any Garlic Sauce !!
It was super disappointing as I also gave her tip on top of expensive platters !!
Not returning!!

This is the badest place I never seen before. All the food is unclean. I just order 4 small meat and for each meat cost $20. On the end I receive all of them like the picture below most of the plate is onions and tomatoes. There is no meat in the plate. And the owner of the restaurant is disrespectful and untrusted. Best manaeesh outside of Lebanon at Cedarlands Bakery. Fabulous, amazing food. Real brick oven and hard-working staff. They do a lot of business and very satisfied customers. Plus, I left my purse there by mistake and they had found it, held it for me, and returned it with great kindness. Went back twice it was so good. Found Cedarland Bakery while looking online for gluten free lunch options & decided to give it a try. So glad we did! The owner was at the counter & mentioned his nephew has a gluten allergy too so he was very knowledgeable and understanding. He showed us all he could prepare GF. GREAT ADD ON TO DOWNTOWN DEARBORN! Their Pies are good, just the dough can be a little bit better but overall experience is really good. Definitely recommend the koshk pie, and their akkawi mashrouha. Love that they have a little grocery section as well if you’d like to take anything to go.

Unfortunately, Shatila stopped using real butter in their baklavas years ago. Check the ingredients on the box. All varieties use soybean oil and canola oil now. The taste and texture became noticeably worse after they made this change. I have switched to a different bakery that uses all butter for the same price as Shatila. Always busy. Service not bad. They sometimes have to work over large crowds of people which can be similar to an auction setting or stock exchange. Can be a bit crazy. Ice cream is pretty good. Most sweets are good however, I avoid anything with fresh fruit like strawberries because it is not fresh tasting, usually odd flavor of old and rancid. The cheese cake is very good. Prices are decent. One of our favorite places to go.

The place is beautiful to look at, and goods are like a work of art and the taste and price are worth it.
