오후 5시 30분에 예약하여 30분일찍 도착했는데도 친절히 응대해주셨습니다.
주말 저녁이어서 그런지 만석이었고 음식이 나오는데 조금 시간이 걸렸지만 서버분께서 음식이 조금 늦은것에 대해 재치있고 친절히 응대해주셔서 웃어 넘길 수 있었습니다.
혼자가서 루비커리, 플레이 난, 콜라 하나 시키니 양이 딱좋았습니다!

치킨 루비랑 블랙 달과 갈릭 난과 밥 먹었어요. 진짜 다 맛있어요. 왜 다들 인도커리 먹어라고 하는지 알 것 같아요. 직원들도 친절해요. 예약 없이 평일 오후 2시쯤 방문했는데 대기 없이 바로 착석했어요.
정말 맛있었습니다! 카레에는 닭고기가 듬뿍 들어있었어요. 난도 따뜻했고, 특히 장미 라씨는 정말 최고였어요! 혼자 식사했는데 남자 직원 분께서 계속 안부를 살펴 주셨습니다ㅋㅋㅋ (제가 쓸쓸해 보였던 걸까요.. 그저 혼자 여행 중이었을 뿐입니다!) 모두 친절하게 대해주셔서 에든버러에서의 마지막 밤에 기분 좋게 잘 수 있겠어요. 잘 먹었습니다!
구글 리뷰 처음 쓰는 것 같은데 정말 남기고 싶어지는 곳이네요. 맛도 훌륭한데 서비스가 너무 친절해요. Karol이라는 분이 담당했는데, 메뉴 전체적으로 한번 설명해주고, 더 궁금한 것도 사진까지 찾아주며 알려줬습니다. 그리고 Xie xie라고 인사하길래 기분이 전혀 나쁘진 않았지만 한국인이라고 말씀드렸더니, 갑자기 몸을 낮추고 앉아서 한국어로 어떻게 하면 되는지 물어보고는 메모해 가셨어요. 처음부터 끝까지 기분 좋은 경험이었습니다. 강력 추천!!

I think this might be my first time leaving a Google review, but this place really deserves it. The food was excellent, but what stood out even more was the incredibly kind and attentive service. Karol took care of us and gave a thorough explanation of the entire menu. He even looked up photos to help us better understand some of the dishes we were curious about. At one point, Karol said "Xie xie" as a thank you — I didn’t mind at all, but when I mentioned I was Korean, he immediately crouched down and asked how to say it properly in Korean, then took notes! From start to finish, it was just a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

인종차별 이런거 1도없고 착하세요 영국에서 웬 인도요리했는데 맛있다해서 가봤어요 오크라튀김이랑 치킨루비커리 강추에요 달커리는 그냥 그랬어요 ㅎㅎ
맛있어요! 사람 진짜 많아서 웨이팅 기본인 것 같았어요. 고추튀김 같은 거 파는데(이름 기억 안나네요) 그게 요즘 핫한 음식이라고 했던 것 같아요. 실제로도 주위에 테이블 다 그거 먹고 있었구요, 맛도 있었어요! 기억나는 하나는 에든버러 지점에만 판다고 되어있던 거 먹었는데 맛있었어요.
웨이팅이 길다고 그러는데 저는 운좋게 바로 들어갔습니다. 양고기 커리 full plate랑 고추튀김, 난 추가 이렇게 해서 먹었는데 굉장히 맛있게 먹었습니다!

Love the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant. Just a shame the scaffolding is blocking the view of the city. But nevertheless it was still enjoyable with the view in the restaurant.
The staff was friendly, welcoming and tentative.
Food was well presented and cooked beautifully.

The food was okay overall. We ordered lobster, steak, and codfish for dinner. To my surprise, my steak turned out to be super hard, even though I asked for medium rare. The lobster was fresh but nothing special, and we loved the codfish the most out of everything.
The wine list wasn’t to my liking, so I didn’t order any wine.

The restaurant is very nicely located in the center of the city.
Staff is very welcoming.
All dishes are well prepared.
We tried a couple of cocktails at the end of the dinner, and they were very good.
It was a bit pricey, but it was worth it.

Very friendly staff, great service! Oysters were delicious and fresh! The scallops were well cooked - and super well seasoned! The halibut special was unfortunately a bit too salty for my liking but I think it was a one off and the staff were very apologetic and friendly about it!

What a fabulous dining experience! I love the concept, and the execution. Sean and Keith have created something which feels unique and special - a fine dining experience which is relaxed and unpretentious, and fun!
The concept: one long table which seats up to 10, in front of the kitchen, where you can watch and interact with the two chefs as they go about their business.
The execution: ... And what business! Michelin star level food, all freshly prepared and dished out in front of you. It's fun - lots of fun - to watch how they efficiently and masterfully run their kitchen, dovetailing and complementing each other. They have perfected the timing of the evening - 7+ dishes over 4 hours, and it all just... Flows. Not rushed, not slow, just perfect.
The food: next level. A riot of flavour, colour, and presentation. Every dish is distinctly different from the last, and the flavours... I don't have the words. Absolutely delicious from start to finish. (Note: there are no allowances for allergies / dislikes, so if you can't eat what is put in front of you this is not the restaurant for you.)
I wanted to wipe every plate with my finger, it was hard letting even a sliver of the fabulous flavours return to the kitchen.
I had the standard wine pairing, and it's a delight as Sean introduces you to each: the region, the grape, the vineyard, and the notes and tastes to expect. I'm not a seasoned expert, but each seemed perfectly paired with the dish it was matched to, and every wine was delicious. Excellent value for money.
Sincere compliments and thanks to Sean and Keith, not just for the food but the entire experience. They are wonderful hosts, and create a real down-to-earth, relaxed atmosphere which enhances the evening. And they genuinely seem to be having fun while they do it!
Embarrassing end note: I had the wine pairing, wifey did not. Yet somehow she left me to pay. No problem: take machine, enter tip, tap card.
Only... Tip enters as pence, not pounds. Shambles. Sean, lovely bloke that he is, had the good grace not to react and acted like nothing had happened.
Hopefully the 5 star review is small recompense - I'll make it up the next time I'm in town!
Cannot recommend The Table highly enough. Everyone should try to experience it at least once. Might become an annual tradition for us!

While this was a very good concept, having the chef do the wines and cool and plate the food with one helper who just plated made the dinner experience very long and drawn out. Even though the meal was 8 courses, the dinner was over 4 hours with long wait times in between the dishes.
The food itself was average to good. Some dishes had good flavour, others seemed a bit confused. Still a good experience, but still got a ways to go before it can compete with some of the other restaurants in Edinburgh

I visited The Table in July for my birthday, and even though I’m only writing this now, I can still say it was absolutely perfect.
This is a true chef’s table experience, and it’s fantastic to watch the chef at work, preparing each dish with such passion and care. Every course was introduced and described by him personally, which made the evening even more special.
All the dishes were absolutely delicious, the cheddar and onion risotto with summer truffle and the chiken with Skordalia and Greek salad left a lasting impression..
The atmosphere was fabulous — the setting felt both intimate and engaging, allowing us to enjoy the chef’s passion up close while also sharing the experience with fellow diners.
A unique and unforgettable experience — highly recommended!

Reconnu comme l un des meilleurs restaurants de fruits de mer de la ville. Petite structure avec une carte courte de recettes à base de poisson ou fruits de mer et aussi un peu de viande. Le plat signature étant la fameuse langouste qui est très bien préparée. tout est fait sur place avec des produits locaux. Fully recommend this place especially after finding out what they do for the local community.
The surprise canapés were insane and the starters were delicious.
Our lobster main was delectable and my girlfriend wishes she hadn't gone for the 1/2 choice (she stole mine anyway!).

The food was good! I had the whole lobster. It was a good meal overall.I guess paying £50 for a whole lobster is reasonably priced. One thing I didn't enjoy was the service. The stuff was very friendly (2/3) and happy to fulfill any requests, but.. -and I say this with the best intentions in mind- it doesn't make sense to have 3 people for 7 tables and still get a slow service. I mean it must have been the first time in my life that I had to wait with my finished plate in front of me so long and even had to ask to have it removed (!!!). Also, one of the first things we are taught when we work at the service is to never walk while looking at the floor. I'm not saying that the stuff wasn't friendly, its just that these little things leaves you with the sense of disproportionate service compared with the money you pay for this restaurant.

A nice cozy little restaurant. Went for dinner last night and it's so so satisfying. The seafood canapes was on the house and it's so good that increased our expectation on their mains. And it didn't fail us. We had a steamed mussels with citrus chimichurri. The citrus gave a hint of refreshing and love the herby of the chimichurri. His main was monk fish with sour-ish salad and sweet pancake on the side. Mine was crab risotto with trout fillet on top and citrus buttery clams and cockles on the side. The combination was so good and flavorful and surprisingly good.

My husband and I dined here last week during our trip. The Kitchin was suggested at my husband's conference, so we decided to check it out!
Lunch was the only available reservation, so we walked from our hotel and had a leisurely lunch.
We decided to do the surprise tasting, which did not disappoint! We are from America, so we wanted to be introduced to the Scottish cuisine!

The stafff was super sweet and attentive. Very knowledgeable.

Absolutely exquisite dining experience with fantastic service. Attentive, knowledgeable about every dish and all food locally sourced. I couldn't fault any fish we had it was just perfect. The servers and all staff very friendly, chatty and the atmosphere was excellent. We also got to meet Tom Kitchin himself as he was going around the tables greeting and chatting to the room, very nice touch if you ask me!
I'm a wheelchair user and there was a very small step/curb to get into the dining room however it was roughly the height of 2 dropped curbs so I managed it without help, the rest of the space was accessible.

Had such an amazing multi course dinner here. They locally source all of their ingredients from the area and provide a map where each one is from. At each course they explain the ingredients and you feel how much they care about fresh and local flavors to celebrate!
Service was spectacular, even when there was a mix-up with which menu, they quickly corrected it with no fuss. They pay attention and even called a taxi for us at the end of the meal.

We celebrated our anniversary at The Kitchin and chose The Prestige Surprise Tasting Menu — an absolutely extraordinary experience. Every course was a masterpiece of Scottish fine dining, showcasing incredible local ingredients and flawless technique. 관광객들 사이에서 평이 좋은 레스토랑으로 들어 여행 전부터 미리 예약을 했습니다. 고객중에 확실히 관광객이 많은 편이었고 현지인으로 보이는 사람들도 꽤 있었습니다.
해산물 전문 레스토랑이고 홍합요리가 유명한 것 같아서 홍합요리와 생선요리, 면요리를 주문했습니다. 홍합요리는 홍합을 삶아서 낸 요리인데 홍합이 신선하고 크기도 작지 않아서 맛있게 먹었습니다. 홍합 자체의 풍미만으로도 좋았지만 한국인인지라 마늘과 청양고추가 조금만 들어가면 더 맛있을 것 같다는 생각이 들었습니다.
파스타가 리뷰에서 평이 좋았던 것 같은데 개인적으로는 좀 맹하면서 무난무난한 맛이었다고 생각합니다. 오히려 동양인 입맛에는 파스타보다는 에그누들이 더 잘 맞을 것이라고 생각하며 맛은 굴소스 풍미의 볶음면 맛인데 호불호가 잘 갈리지 않을 맛입니다.
맛의 수준은 전반적으로 고급레스토랑의 맛이라고 하기는 어렵고 딱 한국의 패밀리 레스토랑 정도의 맛이라고 생각합니다. 그래서 누구를 데려가도 크게 호불호 없이 먹을만한 맛입니다.

아이들은 레몬에이드 어른은 화이트 와인 한잔씩했어요. 싱겁게 먹는 입맛이라 걱정했는데 전혀 짜지 않았고 너무 맛있게 먹었습니다.특히 클램차우더랑 나오는 빵이 정말 맛있어서 추가 했어요. (한국처럼 빵이 공짜는 아닙니다^^)
홍합 전문점이니 홍합이야 말할것도 없고 파스타도 진짜 맛있었어요.

홍합팟 1/2, 해산물 파스타를 주문해서 먹다가 딸이 아무래도 홍합팟이 1/2이 아닌것 같다고 말했어요. 그래서 주문받은 금발남자를 불러 말했더니, 파스타의 홍합껍질과 홍합팟의 껍질이 섞여 양을 알수없다고 하네요. 본인이 주문받아 놓고, 체크를 원하냐고 물어봐서 체크해달라 했어요. 껍질통을 가져가더니 다시 와서 절반이 아니고 full 홍합이라고 하네요.
제가 full을 주문했다 하고, 난 너한테 half를 주문했다 하니, 계속 제 half를 못알아 듣고, 점점 분위기가 안좋아지더니 결국 홍합냄비를 가져가 버릴려고 하네요. 여행중 딸 앞에서 분위기 망칠까봐 어쩔수 없이 괜찮다 하고 냄비를 다시 뺏었으나, 이미 기분도 상하고 배도 불러서 그만 먹고 계산했습니다. 그와중에 서비스차지 10%는 착실하게 붙였네요. 적어도 손님과 주문내용에 대해 실랑이가 있었으면 서비스차지는 빼야 하는것 아닌지... 계산하고 나왔지만, 너무 기분 더럽네요. 이딴식으로 장사하지 맙시다.

We visited on Oct. at night, and we had wonderful dinner. Steak was excellent, internal atmosphere was so warm and comfort. I love this place and want to visit again!!

We recently visited and while the food was absolutely delicious. We did feel a bit rushed at the beginning of the service.
Our server, Mimi, was genuinely lovely—friendly, attentive, and made the effort to check in with us throughout the meal.
Every dish we ordered was full of flavor and beautifully presented. It's clear the kitchen knows what they’re doing, and we’d happily come back just for the food.
All in all great food, decent service, and a lovely server—being rushed at the start did affect our overall impression.

Beautiful restaurant and warm services by the staff. Honestly I want to give 5-star for the experience however, the sea bass was really a disappointment. It wasn’t bad, just that i expected higher standard. Generous portion for the sea bass(which i love), however, the skin was not quite as crispy as I would prefer (it looked like the chef tried but the sauce made it soggy). The mushroom sauce with spinach’s and beans(?) was not a balanced match for the dish somehow. Our party ordered 3 sea-bass and the consensus was similar. The dish wasn’t executed as good as the description. The fish and chip was tasty with the pea mash. The burger from the Kids’ menu was bigger than McDonald’s Big Mac and delicious. Came with tasty fries. Fresh mint tea turned out to be made with a dried mint tea bag. Nice cocktail menu tho. & service was great.

This is the 3rd Ivy I have been to and the food actually isn’t overpriced and is fairly reasonable. However, I think they make too much effort to try and market it as fine dining when it clearly isn’t. It feels quite posh but the food doesn’t reflect this. Servers were okay although we had 4 in total and after 2 hours we were asked to vacate the table and move to the bar, which was full. Overall I’d say we felt rushed, we was asked for our food order before our drinks had arrived. Will try somewhere else next time I’m in Edinburgh.

We were really keen to visit The Ivy on the Square in Edinburgh, having had such a good experience the month before at The Ivy in Belfast. It didn't disappoint - we were taken to a table upstairs which was a result, as you get a much better better view over St Andrew's Square. The service was fantastic and the food was wonderful again.
The Chicken Milanese was delicious, I didn't want it to end. The toilets were once again worth a few pics, especially the ceiling! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were presented with a complementary pudding which was a lovely surprise and nice touch.
The atmosphere was buzzing and we were made to feel so special - we left feeling we had been spoilt and had a special treat.
We will continue to make it our mission to visit as many Ivy's as possible - cannot wait to go again!

Located downstairs at the beautiful Balmoral Hotel, this restaurant is truly special. Definitely one of our favorite dinners in Edinburgh. Every dish was fabulous, presentation was exquisite, and the service was awesome. The roasted veal sweetbread was insane. I highly recommend this place for a special dinner.

ate here last night and i ordered the vegan 7 course meal. a few dishes were bland despite beautiful plating (specifically the first starter), but some of them knocked my socks off (65% chocolate with sesame bark, red pepper chutney and artichoke, miso caramel)!! soo delicious. i liked the chocolate old fashioned but it could do with more of a chocolate aroma/flavour. kombuchas were amazing though. the service was wonderful and so were the wine pairings. i would definitely recommend this place for vegans!!

What an absolute treat! We came here for the last meal of our honeymoon in Edinburgh and it MADE the trip. We went with the 7 course tasting menu, but also got tempted by the extra cheese course and the extra treats they give you with a coffee makes it a 9!!!!
We were treated what felt like royalty, they doted on us and was an incredible experience. Callum (Sommelier) was incredible and an absolute asset to the restaurant, he was so knowledgable and explained everything so well to us. He made the world of wine accessible and not snobby at all, made us feel part of the conversation and we truly enjoyed his time. Keith was our server along side a massive team who constantly checked in on us and delivered esquisite food to our table (unfortunately we don't know everyone's name). He was welcoming, professional and extremely courteous. The servers were so good that at one point my napkin slipped off my lap and before I had chance to pick it up a very kind server gave me a new one and quickly got it from under the table (I'm sure the whole thing was 3 seconds).
I would talk about all the food individually but as it's an experience I feel I shouldn't talk about it to leave an air of mystery. What I will say is that the food was out of this world, I enjoyed every course and it was perfectly explained so you knew exactly what you were eating.
THIS IS A MUST GO!!
I hope to be coming here for many years to come on our anniversary trips to Edinburgh.

The seafood platter was unbelievably fresh, I didn’t like a small amount of the fish served but that’s just personal preference as they tasted alright. The sea bass with yellow pepper sauce is a really nice light dinner option, not very filling but very full on flavor. Tried the haddock risotto as well and it’s so packed with flavor and creamy. Drinks were really good as well and our server was lovely. If you’re in Edinburgh and want a good seafood place by the shore, this place is a must try.

Overall great experience for a good (if not great) price. Atmosphere was dark and moody, almost like a Scottish version of a Guillermo del Toro film. Really inventive pairings of flavours (beetroot and pork belly? Scallop and pea with black pudding?) that all worked really well. Pork belly was incredible (beet had a nice sweet pairing to the almost-BBQ like sauce, textural contrast from crackling and a sweet acidic highlight from an orange jelly) but the scallop starter was my favourite (two small but very tender scallops seared lightly on beautiful black pudding with notes of cloves and nutmeg, peas with herbs as a base). It was light but very complex and a wonderful unexpected pairing of flavours. My wife’s lamb was fantastic in flavour but the temperature was a bit high for our liking, would have been better 20 degrees less cooked. Lemon posset was a great finale with a raspberry sorbet and textural element from oats. Very kind and funny waitstaff, would definitely come back next time we’re in Scotland.

The serving staff were delightfully charming, and the atmosphere is simply perfect.
I could see myself hiding down there on a cold winter's night.

We ordered Creamy fish soup - super delicious and rich in flavor, Curry and Seatrout. Curry was strong and spicy, but its definetely worth a try. Absolutely fantastic breakfast! Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented.
The hummus on toast was honestly one of the best dishes I’ve ever had, so fresh and full of flavour.
The eggs benedict with mushrooms, spinach, and added halloumi was incredible, perfectly balanced and packed with a special, unique taste.
And the French toast with banoffee was on another level, I loved the mix of yoghurt, caramel, and nuts, it was just divine.

Best Michelin star restaurant I’ve been to! Everything was exceptional especially their friendly and accommodating service. They make everything in-house which made the experience interesting since I really appreciated the effort and thoughtfulness they put in every dish! And all the proteins was cooked to perfection. I rarely get taken away from eating but this was a memorable experience I cherished! I didn’t regret any ounce of penny i spent, since every dish had a story behind it. Cool concept and nice attention to detail. Service team was on top of it. Lots of love for Seasonal and Regional ingredients. A dining experience but at the same time not too much or too stuffy. An exquisite experience. Every dish was stellar. The wine was excellent. The service was superb. The space is beautiful. The vibe is peaceful. Loved this place. We had the three course set menu for lunch with a few add-ons but I wish we’d just gone for the tasting menu. It’s a highly deserved Michelin and I highly recommend it.

I first visited Timberyard back in January and honestly left a little underwhelmed as the menu felt flat and I was surprised when staff brushed it off as “well, it’s winter.” At the time, it felt dismissive, especially for a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Fast forward to now, and what a transformation. I decided to give Timberyard another chance and I’m so glad I did. The menu was absolutely stunning, thoughtful, balanced, and full of flavour and the service was impeccable from start to finish. What really impressed me was that they acknowledged my previous experience and even went as far as to comp my cheese course to “make amends.” That level of customer care is rare and shows a true commitment to hospitality.
This visit reminded me why Timberyard has its reputation: outstanding food, beautiful atmosphere, and above all, a team who really care about their guests. I left feeling so happy and taken care of. Thank you for turning things around in such a memorable way.

Down a dark side street lies this hidden gem of a café. The service was friendly, warm, and prompt. The atmosphere was dark and comfortable. The food was outstanding. I had an excellent salad of roasted pumpkin with pesto and crowdie cheese. Best squash dish I've ever tasted. I wanted to share a special story about my time dining at Cafe St Honore. 4 years ago when I met my wife she introduced me to this fine restaurant that she had been dining at for 10 years whilst visiting from America. We spent every Valentines day, anniversary, birthday and the restaurant even hosted our wedding dinner in October 2024. I would come to every stall I could every Saturday morning at Castle Terrace for the Cottage Pie.
We came here for Sunday Roast and it was exquisite. The restaurant catered for my wife's allergies with with no fuss as they have done so for over 10 years, expertly cooking a stunning thick cut steak with a jus that was like liquid gold.
Please give this place your full attention and they will take care of you as they have for me over the years

Had a lovely lunch here, the food was very good with all courses value for money. Possibly not quite at the level of cuisine of the other two French bistros we’ve visited in Edinburgh recently. Service was on the slow side of relaxed unfortunately but they were busy. We’d definitely make a return visit to Cafe St Honore.

Thoroughly excellent food on our repeat visit. Pricey, yes, but absolutely worth it.
I had the terrine to start and then roast turkey. Main course was absolutely fantastic, pretty much a perfect roast. Turkey was so tender, and they gave me a jug of extra gravy to drown myself in. Terrine was good, but lost a couple of points for me. First, I found buckshot in it (at least you know it's real wild game!) which was honestly fine, but slightly better QC would be advised. Aside from that, overall the dish felt a little heavy. There wasn't quite enough of the fig running through it to counterpoint the meat, and the pickled red cabbage wasn't quite doing it for me.
Wife had the pumpkin soup, which was lovely and creamy. For mains, she had slow cooked beef shin on mash with kale. It was also very tasty, can't say too much as I was only allowed one bite ;)
Waiting staff were fantastically on point as well, and they always offer to call a taxi at the end of the meal which is a nice touch.

An interesting French-inspired but true to local roots menu. Stepping in we were greeted very kindly, exceptional relaxed service, our waiter had stellar recommendations for wine pairing and was accommodating at every step. The food was delicious, it’s our second time at this restaurant and both times we left impressed. The crème brûlée was a standout as they add flambéed apples to the dish, significantly elevating the flavour of the crème which can be frankly heavy at times. The mains were also outstanding; interesting combination of ingredients and creative preparation. Well recommended.

Fabulous. Contemplated the Sunday roast, but decided on their charcoal grilled chicken, burger, fries, and the toffee pudding. The chicken was perfectly prepared, and every morsel was enjoyable--especially enjoyed how artfully the skin was light and perfectly crispy. Cannot rave enough about the toffee pudding (went back to another Hawksmoor just for the dessert in London). The center is delightfully warm, and the sweetness is subdued by the butter on top. A must return.

Brilliant steak. Lovely staff and a really cool vibe. Some of the things on the menu were not available due to a busy lunch so what can you do but what was available my wife and I loved.

I cook a good steak at home but they beat it which is all I can ask. Beef dripping fries were amazing! Lemon meringue pie with clotted cream was beautiful as well as tasty. Little on the pricey side but you have to treat yourself sometimes!

Our family party of 9 went for brunch at 10.15 on a quiet Friday morning and it was perfect for us. Although they were just opening the waitress was really friendly and efficient. Food was excellent with good quality ingredients and the coffee was among the best of our trip. Definitely recommended.

We went for the first time last weekend for brunch. Some of our friends love this place, and we get why. The food was delicious, some of the best pancakes I had had in a very long time. The restaurant/café itself is very cosy, beautifully decorated and the staff friendly & professional. We paid about £50 for two adults and our kiddo. Next, the food was pretty good. I got the fish and chips and it was some of the best that I have had. It was a massive piece of fish and wasn't soggy or overcooked. It was perfectly battered and quite delightful.
However, the reason for the review is that my travel group (5 people) ranked this as the best sticky toffee pudding. They are the champions out of ten pubs and restaurants across Scotland and London.
Our ranking was because we found ourselves trying it in every city we went to and we had built quite the list.

My friend and I got an Itison voucher for lunch and had a great time. All the staff we met were lovely and so helpful. The food itself was delicious too! I appreciated that my dietary preferences were taken into account and that the menu gave us a chance to try ingredients we hadn't even heard of before. I cannot say enough amazing things about Fhior. Even before the meal, which to be honest has been the best I've had in Scotland (including my last visit in Scotland which involved a tasting menu at a Michelin star restaurant), they were nothing but kind and extremely accommodating. Due to a work emergency we requested a change in time - they were able to make it work beautifully.
The decor is lovely. Simple, elegant, warm. The food was superb and gorgeously presented. Each wine pairing was spot on.
There's no question the next go around Fhior will go from Michelin guide to Michelin star.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed by our experience at Fhior. We had high expectations as the reviews have all been very positive. However, we thought the food really missed the mark. When we attended there was a guest chef and the menu offered was all seafood. We found most of the fish was not cooked well. Particularly, the squid spaghetti was chunky and chewy, and the squid ragu was underwhelming in flavour. The turbot was overcooked and rubbery. Throughout the meal, there was not a good balance of flavour and texture. I struggled to get through the full menu. The dessert courses were a step up from the mains, but overall, it was very disappointing. The sommelier had good knowledge and managed to do a great job pairing wines. The staff were very attentive and engaging. It was a shame they were let down by the food. Also, we thought the decor of the restaurant could do with improvement.

One of the best tasting menus we’ve ever been to. The food was delicious and perfectly crafted with local ingredients. The service, including our server and the sommelier were a pleasure to talk to. They talked us through each pairing and made the experience delightful. We will definitely be back whenever we’re in the area.

Reunited date with a friend. Had the 4 course tasting menu. Started with pear cocktails, very delicious. Then had some little nibbles, one was trout roe and the other was a hash brown with a mouse on top. We also had fresh bread. Both lovely. For starters had a cured trout, then asparagus dish. An amazing dining experience. We had the 10 course tasting menu and everything was cooked to perfection. I've went to a a number of Michelin rated places and I can say that this is definitely in my top 3 places, and the best meal I've had in my multiple visits to Edinburgh.
It's very hard to choose a favourite dish as each one was a hit - flavourful and very well balanced. The service was impeccable and very friendly, and we even got a lovely recommendations for local coffee and pubs. I love the punny culinary artwork, and the ambiance was lovely, warm and welcoming. I would definitely come back if I visit Edinburgh again.

We got the four course lunch tasting here and had an absolutely lovely time.
Each dish was delicious, perfectly balanced with bold textures and flavors. The cocktails were also excellent and the bread (+ butter) was some of the best I’ve ever had.
The portioning was fine for a lunch tasting. It won’t stuff you but it won’t leave you hungry. For 40 pounds and considering the quality of the food, it’s an steal.
Service was excellent. Overall, this definitely compares to some of the best tasting experiences I’ve had anywhere. Highly, highly recommended to anyone looking for elevated Scottish cuisine that won’t break the bank.

We celebrated my other half's birthday here and it was magical. We were seated in the Secret Garden room, softly lit by candles, creating a beautifully intimate atmosphere that made the evening feel very special.
Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and made us feel cared for throughout the night. We were also chuffed that the staff remembered it was my partner’s birthday and surprised him with a little treat at dessert.

I've never visited the hotel but I've dfined at the restaraunt twice, first in 2024 and then again in 2025. The building, location and interior is genuinely breathtaking. It truly feels like stepping back in time.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is tranquil and the guests have always seemed to respect the ambience as well. The dark lights goes well with the gothic feel of the room, but I'd also like to add that as a nepsy girlie it truly helps in creating a peaceful experience.
My experience of the service is also first class. They have always made me feel welcome (even when dining alone, which is not always a given) and made the experience feel grand.
I am not a foodie so my thoughts on the food should be considered as such. The menu is very seasonal so I can only speak of the menus in the fall of 2024 and 2025. In 2024 I had a heavenly risotto that I still think about from time to time. In 2025 I had a vegetarian dish of some sort and it didn't meet my expectations of what the restaurant is (that's the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
The dessert was heavenly on both times and the house lemonade (or was it ice tea?) is really good.

I brought my parents here for dinner to celebrate their 58th anniversary. The original booking was for four people but one dropped out last minute. The staff accomadated this with no fuss and rearranged our table accordingly. The venue is gorgeous with a magical ambience. We asked to have the set menu for two to be altered for three and again this was no problem. The food tasted great and the recommended wine pairing was excellent. A formal yet unpretentious and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Our special occasion dinner at The Witchery was absolutely outstanding! We started with the beef carpaccio topped with caviar and the seared scallops — both beautifully presented and full of flavor. For mains, the lobster thermidor and lamb Wellington were larger than life — rich, comforting, and full of classic Scottish flair.
We ended with the apple tarte tatin, which was delicious but quite a large portion — we would have appreciated a heads-up from our server since our starters and mains were already so hearty. The service overall was good, though not quite as exceptional as the food.
The atmosphere is second to none: candlelit, romantic, and steeped in Edinburgh’s history. Despite the small note on service, the experience was incredible.
I’d highly recommend The Witchery to anyone visiting Edinburgh — and I’ll definitely be back on my next trip!

This is a very nice, top vegan restaurant that will not dissapoint! We ate full vegan & vegetarian breakfast that lasted us for many hours, we even skipped lunch that day, and in the evening we shared nut rolls as a starter, and had Mediterranean pasta and Summer bowl for mains. The pasta was on a spicy side, so if you don't tolerate it- ask for it without chilli 👌.
The restaurant staff is friendly and helpful, the interior design is simple yet modern and atmospheric. In the evenings they have live music, such a bonus!

Literally the best meal I've had from a vegan restaurant! The wine was super and I took my non vegan friend. He said it was the best meal he had in a long time. Was so worried we weren't going to get a table, as we didn't book. They managed to find a table for us. I was blown away. The cheese cake should be permanently on the menu. The thai butternut squash soup was so different and wonderfully flavoured. The haggis was really good, but I would have loved more of the whiskey sauce as it was delicious. Brilliant experience and dining. I would recommend booking, as a lot of people were turned away while we were there

✓ All Vegetarian with Vegan Options
The restaurant is downstairs, the one on the upper level is more of a deli and grab & go shop. I was here for breakfast and had the Vegan Pancakes [£6.95] with blueberries, bananas & maple syrup. It was more of the thick American style pancakes, but not that fluffy. Still I enjoyed it and it’s really delicious, topped with a nice amount of bananas and blueberries, served with a side of maple syrup. It was a satisfying plate of pancakes for the price. I also had the Vegan Carrot Cake [£4.50] served with a side of plant milk which was really good. It was moist, tender and fluffy with just the right level of sweetness even with the frosting. It was jam packed with flavour and rich with plenty of carrots, nuts and such.
The staff were friendly. They could be for more helpful (especially as a first timer) in introducing how the restaurant works and what it has to offer (i.e. menu, food at the counter etc.). The restaurant is eclectic and cosy with a homey décor. There place is spacious too with plenty of tables for even big groups. Fresh and delicious vegetarian and vegan food and even cakes that are done well at affordable prices, I can see why they are so popular and doing well (with several locations)!

I can't say enough about the food here but I'll try... We had as much as we could because it was so incredibly good! From taste to presentation I was really impressed. Service was great and and we didn't wait to sit. (But a reservation is highly recommended because the space is small - we got lucky!) Food came at a good pace and we fully enjoyed it all. I'm going to miss this place - would definitely go back!

Lovely restaurant with amazing staff and awesome food. It’s been a while that we’ve found a place that was just perfect in all regards. Spoilt for choices we went with the Thai salad bowl which was absolutely delicious. Service was professional and very personable. Drinks were delicious and the live music just set the tone of everything wonderful. Highly recommend this place!

Fab little lunch spot I like to visit whenever I’m in Edinburgh! Last time I tried the vegan haggis wrap (made from beans) , the spanakopita, and a donut! They’ve got lovely drinks and coffee as well! Nice staff too. It can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but overall I recommend!

Henderson’s Vegan - Café/Deli and Restaurant Downstairs
There are alot of great offeringa here but the execution is not quite on par when compared with the many new Vegan offering available in Scotland.
The drink selection is great and the presentation is superb.
The menu selection is very diverse and it is a well balanced menu.
The food on offer is unfortunately not as well executed, with a lot of reheated dishes or premade items. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but the way they are reheated is not always great and I found the Pakoras particularly undercooked and flavours confused.
The setting is outstanding and apt of attention and time has gone into Making Henderson’s fee warm and inviting.
Not a bad choice for breakfast or lunch.
