My favorite beach. Endless sandbars, you can walk for miles without getting waist deep. Terrible bugs right at sunset, but def the best place to watch the sunset on the Cape elbow. I forget if parking is $20 or $30. But whatever it is it’s worth it because I adore this beach.

Cute beach, loved the white sand and the plants. Very family friendly. Would recommend coming along a bike route, we didn’t but we would’ve loved to. (minus 1 star because of the expensive 30$ parking with no bathrooms or water point). We only came at high tide but can imagine the beauty at low tide!

We visited Skaket Beach to watch the sunset, and it absolutely delivered. The beach itself is on the smaller side, and while it was fairly empty when we arrived about an hour before sunset, it got quite crowded by sunset, with the parking lot filling up quickly. Aside from the sunset views, there's not a lot to do here. Also, be prepared for pricey parking.

Skaket Beach is one of my favorite spots on the Cape. They do a great job limiting the number of people allowed in at a time, which means even during peak hours you actually have space to breathe and see the ocean. No sardine-style beach days here.
At low tide, you can walk out for what feels like forever, probably close to a mile, and explore all these little tide pools. It’s perfect for kids (and let’s be honest, fun for adults too) with tons of shells and cool little sea creatures to check out.
They’ve got clean bathrooms, a rinse-off shower, and even a food stand, which makes it super convenient for families. It is a little pricier to get in at $32.50 for the day, but honestly, it’s worth it for the space, the views, and the overall experience.
If you’re looking for a beach day where you can relax, let the kids run wild, and still have access to all the basics, this is it.

Low tide at its best, we walked out for about a mile on ripple sand and tide pools just as the tide went to its lowest point in the day. Got there after 5p and parked for free ($30 otherwise), however the bathrooms were closed as well but that’s ok… the kids were in heaven, free and exploring the new things to discover while to water was out! Just a beautiful place to go and enjoy the Cape Cod Bay!

Rock Harbor Grill in Orleans definitely meets and exceeds ALL of the rave reviews! We had the artisan salad with grilled shrimp and the NEW Calamari Salad that just hit their menu .. hands down the BEST salads we have had in months! It is WORTH the trip up the Cape! I’m excited about this place. We got the Guinness Fish and Chip and the salmon dish for eat in and a pizza to go. All outstanding! Loved the wood fire pizza oven as ambience. Wonderful bar setting. Staff great. I want to say the owner or manager made his way to each table to ask how things were and that was very nice and caring. Definitely will get a couple of visits each time we come to the Cape. To go pizza held its crunch next day out of toaster oven.

All the staff was friendly and efficient. They give you soft pretzel logs with a seasoned butter instead of bread- LOVE!

An outstanding restaurant in the heart of Orleans! Rock Harbor Grill is Cape Cod dining at its finest. Our family went there on a recent Saturday after a day at the beach in Dennis. We walked in and were told there was a 30-minute wait. Knowing that almost everywhere on the Cape would have a similar wait, we decided to stick it out. We were rewarded with excellent food, outstanding service, and an enjoyable atmosphere. We started out with the pretzel bread service which came with infused butter and was delicious. We ordered the four cheese pizza with pepperoni, the lemon pepper swordfish tips, and the fried basket of the day. The basket came with fried whole belly clams and French fries. For dessert, we had the toffe fudge sundae and the toffee pudding. Both of these were excellent. Our server Toni was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. She checked in on us regularly during our meal and continually freshened our drinks. We can't wait to come back to Rock Harbor Grill!

The rock harbor grille was a great experience. We have gone to the cape my whole life and have tried pretty much everywhere over the years. They give you fresh pretzels for bread with a unique butter dip. The pasta and clam dish had a unique roasted tomato guanciale and basil that made it stand out. My father in law loved the salmon, and the cod dish and grazing board were superb. Service was great, highly recommend giving the place a shot.
We went again this week, some of our group got the salmon, my mother in law tried the scallop special. Everything including drinks was good. I got the beef and reed which was very filling, the swordfish was great. The wing appetizer was also good but expensive for 8 wings. We love this place .

I ordered our food online for 5 people about 10 minutes after the restaurant opened, and 2 of us went to pick it up before the 35 minutes posted on the site. When we got there, I went in to let the hostess know we were there early, but no pressure. As I looked around the dining room, every table was packed with people, all laughing and having a good time. The hostess was great! She said I could sit in the foyer and my bag would be there soon. It was, a few minutes later.

This was a perfect place to stop for lunch when biking the full Cape Cod Rail Trail (CCRT). It’s just off the CCRT and there is an enormous covered bike rack right next to the trail as well as a smaller rack immediately in front of the cafe.
The was a bit of a line in the cafe when we arrived, but it moved quickly and lasted only about 5 minutes or so. From the ten lunch sandwich options, we ordered the #4 (turkey, roasted red peppers, and garlic herb cream cheese) and the #5 (turkey, white cheddar and pesto), both on ciabatta (the default bread). Because the pies and cakes all looked so amazing, we also ordered a slice of peanut butter chocolate pie and a slice of Oreo dream cake.
The pie and cake came out first, so we dug right into those and both tasted as amazing as they looked. The pie was sweet, but the saltiness and savoriness of the peanut butter helped balance the sweetness. The cake was decadent and also really good.
The sandwiches were ready about 10 minutes after the pie and cake came out because they’re made to order. Luckily, they were fairly small and ended up being a perfect amount of food in combination with the pie / cake.
There was an ice water station with small cups, so no need to purchase water. The drinks we saw while we were dining in were numerous; the sheer volume was astounding!
The cafe is clearly a very popular place and there are all kinds of folks dropping in. We saw everyone from entire Boy Scout troops biking the CCRT to locals catching up with friends.
There were two all-gender restrooms right next to the entrance to the cafe closest to the CCRT.

My wife’s parents loved this place, so we decided to give it a try. They had a nice wheelchair ramp up to an entrance, however that is where the wheelchair friendliness ended, because you end up at the wrong side of the store to order and good luck getting access to the other side of the store. We went on Wednesday night at 8. The place was pretty busy and we thought we were in the line to order for about 5 minutes and then we figured out that they were ordering somewhere else. So we finally ordered and they got the ice cream out pretty quick. However, I got a hot fudge sundae and felt like they may have forgot the hot fudge. Or maybe they were just really running low on their hot fudge. My granddaughters got vanilla soft serve and I feel like Dairy Queen soft serve is better. We were on vacation and one evening we were looking for some place different to try for dessert. This place came up, and in so glad we tried it!
I loved it here! From the bakery counter to the chocolate shop, there’s something yummy for everyone. Ice cream, cookies, cakes, fudge, and chocolate galore.
I had the chocolate lava cake, which they heated up, and it was maybe the best I’ve had in a very long time! It was delicious!
The hot chocolates are also very tasty!

This was my first visit to the Academy Playhouse located on Main Street in Orleans. It is a great local theater with local talent in the cast. It's certainly worth an evening if you are in the area. You don't get to see windmills every day. This one is historical and there are exhibits during its season. When we were there it was off season, so not allowed inside, but the grounds were well landscaped and the architecture was very interesting. Nice for wandering around and stopping for a picnic.

This windmill was walking distance from our accommodations, so I'm glad I didn't travel far to see it. That said, it is a piece of history, on very lovely grounds so you will enjoy not only it but the view. Interesting to read the background on how it can to be where it sits today. This historic windmill built in the 1700's has been moved several times but now rests along the water in Orleans. It didn't have the blades on when I visited, but the grounds are beautiful and makes a great spot for a picnic. Only a few parking spots though.

We really love this place. We go each year when we visit the Cape. The only down side is that it's cash only, though they have an ATM there on site. I think the holes are well maintained and there are lots of colors of balls to choose from, which makes it fun. And at the end they give anyone who wants it, fish food to feed the koi in the pond. Great inventory on the cape went during July/ August and got my reel spooled up, they did a great job, howeverI have not heard of paying 160$ for braid. Honestly I was shocked and wish they had told me that I was going to spend the same amount on the reel as the line… If I would have known I probably would have figured something else. What a great shop! While visiting Cape Cod to fly fish stripers from the flats, I was bummed to find the tip top of my #1 rod dangling above my fly. I don’t know where or how I broke it, but there it was. My buddy suggested we go to Goose Hummock to see if we could buy a new tip. At the shop, Ian took one look at the rod and tip top and said, “we might be able to slide that right back on the (now 1” shorter) tip section. We went to the back of the shop and Ian torched the broken piece out of the tip and hot-glued the tip back onto the blank. To say he saved my trip wouldn’t do him justice. On top of that we had a lively conversation about all kinds of fun topics.

I just don't know where to begin. As soon as you get out of your car you can feel the peace and serenity surrounding you. The grounds are magnificent and the church itself could not be more beautiful.
We stopped in the shop and were met by Father Peter who remembered we had been there last year. He us a lovely and gracious man and being in his company is such a pleasure.
I only wish we lived there year round so we could enjoy the community more fully.
If you are in the area it would benefit you to stop in and visit.

It's a creepy place. Giving up everything you own and your money sounds cultish. It's the only reason they can afford such lavish murals and giant towers that no town would ever allow to be built bc of the size. Went to school with some of the kids and they did not seem okay in any way. It's a sad place nothing what they portray it to be. Do some research of ur own before you hand a penny to these people

The tour of this magnificent church was such a wonderful experience. Our docent, Sister Diana, was informative and sweet. The artistry was amazing. The stone work, the mosaics, and the murals were museum quality masterpieces. It was a unexpected gem of a find! I felt a great peacefulness there. They do not accept donations, but a visit to the gift shop is a treat with lovely homemade items. We each left with a treasure.

While they have a most excellent book & gift shop, the highlight of a visit will be a tour of the incredible Church of the Transfiguration. Our docent/tour guide was an actual member of the monastic community. The church is renowned for its transcendent beauty, it's acoustics, and a massive, very unique pipe organ. I suggest that you take advantage of any available opportunity to attend a worship service. I did, and was awed by the experience.

8 years ago, I went to Tree’s Place for assistance with matting/framing a hand-stitched birth sampler. Although I had found a couple of other framers on the Cape who did a nice job matting/framing my intricate needlework, it was good…but not great. The minute I met Laurie Lang at Tree’s Place, I knew I was in the “best of the best” of hands. Her ability to figure out the right matting/framing combination is truly extraordinary. She has the expertise to tackle whatever framing job you bring to her…..& you’ll be so pleased with the outcome!

The art gallery offers a large variety of local artists, mediums, and styles. I didn't feel pressured at all. you can almost treat it as a small museum... If you need s quick fix of creativity, take in the paintings and sculpture.
If you're a creator yourself, there is a small art supply section. When I was there, some of the shelves were bare...I hope that doesn't mean they will be eliminating this section!
While some of the art is very expensive, there are items for modest budgets.

A wonderful little place that carries many works by truly local artists, often made with local materials. There's a little 'soul of Cape Cod' in this shop. I shop here for special occasion gifts, often for people who love the Cape but can't always be here. I popped in to this beautiful gallery space and was delighted to see all the contemporary art and even get to chat with the owner. It is set a little back from the road in a bit of a strip setting so could be overlooked by the passerby but I can assure you that you do not want to miss this young gallery's collection. Wonderful ‘full-service’ Atlantic side beach with crashing waves, sand, and amenities. Parking is not free (pay at entrance to lot). Lot is very spacious, so easy to find parking even on a Saturday in July! Also virtually empty until noon - although it was an overcast morning. Even afternoon there was plenty of space to spread out. Sand is soft for New England but still has small rocks. There is an adorable food truck circle with gazebo and picnic tables. 3 food trucks (burgers, burritos, paninis, iced coffee, good but pricy! $15 turkey sandwich??), 1 ice cream truck, and 1 souvenir stall (only 2 food trucks were open tho). This beach has plenty of flush toilets, portapotties, changing stalls, showers, and foot washes. They post daily weather info and tide times outside main office. Lifeguards arrived around 9am. Lots of seals at this beach, which is very neat to watch, but it also means that white shark presence is real. Take appropriate precautions (don’t swim near seals or at dawn/dusk). Very happy that Park Ranger Ron was patrolling the beach making sure nobody tried to harass or touch the seals, as they do get very close to shore and swimmers. Only downside here is that the bathrooms were quite dirty, both the ladies’ and men’s room had many clogged or broken toilets, out of soap, and other nastiness left in the changing stalls.

Very cool to see this in person. I had watched The Finest Hour and didn’t realize the boat was so close when we were visiting Cape Cod so had to make the trek to see it. We love these sconces. We purchased at the Frying Pan Gallery in Orleans. They were available the day we went in to purchase. Our electrician installed a black wall sconce and then mounted these over the candelabra type bulb, which is on a dimmer, and sconce. Such a fun way to add some “fish” to our dining area. I'm familiar with their location in Wellfleet, but I had never been into the gallery in Orleans. I saw the door open when I was driving by and decided to stop in.
It was late afternoon, and the woman working there was closing up shop when I arrived. She insisted on turning the lights back on and told me to take my time looking around.
Both rooms were filled with amazing, locally-made treasures. I was shopping for someone else with something rather specific in mind, which, unfortunately, I did not see at the Frying Pan. I did find several things to come back for another time though.
On the top of the list are the handbags. These leather clutches are incredible!!! Unique and so well made. I have been obsessing about them ever since I left the shop.
Thanks again to the kind employee who let me keep her there for a few extra minutes.

I wish I'd taken more pictures! This is a really cool place with I think 17 different artists. I really wanted something from a Cape Cod artist to take home as it's nostalgic to me having grown up on the cape. I did buy a few things I didn't post pictures of on here like small magnets to bring back to friends and family here in Florida. I did buy three prints that I will later have framed.
