Interesting place to visit. Lots of great I formation. Almost all of it printed so a lot of reading. A couple of nice films that tell the story in video with actual photos and videos of events. The planes and other exhibits were amazing. Many small kiddos wandering and seem entertained. Nice gift shop and cafe.

So many artifacts of such a fascinating and brilliant man! Bell’s dynamic wife is also deservedly celebrated. Great insight into his work and the science behind his sound inventions. Well designed displays. Places to sit and rest or contemplate. Well maintained grounds. Nice gift store with several souvenirs. The museum made me want to learn more about Alexander Graham Bell.

A fascinating and inspiring visit!
We visited the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site during our fall trip to Baddeck, and it was absolutely worth it! The exhibits were well-organized, showing not only Bell’s famous telephone invention but also his other amazing work in aviation and innovation. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they made the experience even more engaging for the kids.
It’s great that admission is free for youth and children, a perfect educational stop for families. The location overlooking the Bras d’Or Lake is beautiful, and we enjoyed a short walk around after the museum. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Cape Breton!

We only had 30 minutes since the museum closed pretty early and a nice lady gave us advice to go to the back where more bigger exhibits were displayed. With this advice, we were able to get more than half of the museum done but I wished we spent more time there to experience the museum to its full potential.
Overall, the museum was a great place with a gift shop and cafe and it was a fun experience and my family and I learned a lot about Alex Graham Bell and his life and saw his inventions.

Museum was informative, and really captured the essence of Alexander Graham Bell's legacy. It also gave an insight into his personal life, which was super interesting as well. We only spent an hour here tho and I feel that the most time you could spend here is 2 and a half hours.

In reality, many folks were working on tele-audio and A.G.B. got to the patent office, with the right documentation, first before Elisha Grey. Assisted by hundreds of patent attorneys, Bell Telephone became a business and then became wildly profitable due to Theodore Vail and many "captains of industry" that captured the profits by creating a (natural?) monopoly protected by government edict. Yes, lots of benefits for human-kind, but it could have easily happened a different way. In my opinion, that is the much more interesting history that wont be told here.

A big and beautiful museum highlighting and celebrating the momentous achievements of Alexander Graham Bell, his wife Mabel and his associates. It's a walk down the lanes of history. The area around the museum as well, is picturesque and well-maintained.
Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing dinner! The chowder and mussels were great, but try not to fill up on them or you won't have room for your entree. We ordered the King crab and salmon. Both were cooked well. For dessert we got the blubbery crumble and coconut cream pie. Both were homemade and delicious. I would definitely go back!

Visited this evening and completely blown away not just by the food (which was excellent), but the service as well. For such a busy restaurant, the staff is very attentive (Shout out to Eli who was our server) On the food, can't go wrong with any selection. We went with four course meal, and it did not disappoint. The lobster and the Salmon were both equally enjoyed! Come in with an appetite, as the first courses of the chowder & mussels were delicious. Also nice to see it having a long history & family run

We had an okay seafood experience at Baddeck Lobster Suppers during our stop in Cape Breton. The setting was casual and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and efficient. We came for the classics and ordered lobsters and a bucket of mussels.
The lobster was definitely the highlight—juicy, fresh, and had that perfect bouncy texture that tells you it’s been cooked just right. It was served simply but done very well, letting the quality of the lobster shine.
The mussels, on the other hand, were a bit underwhelming. They were quite small and not as flavourful as we had hoped. We later found out that they were a special type from PEI, which might explain the size. Still, they didn’t stand out the way we expected them to, especially compared to mussels we had elsewhere in the Maritimes.
Overall, this was a satisfying and no-frills seafood experience. If you're looking for good lobster in a relaxed setting, this is a dependable spot. I’d give it a 3 out of 5 stars.

The atmosphere here is hard to beat! The live musician was incredible, and the whole restaurant was buzzing with excited patrons and a cozy family-run vibe.
My husband and I split a cup of chowder and bowl of mussels (I really don’t think the AYCE option is necessary) and neither blew me away. The mussels were slightly overdone but still yummy.
The highlight is the shellfish! My husband and I just had such a genuinely fun time eating this meal, retrieving our meat, wearing our silly bibs and enjoying every bite. The lobster was great but the snow crab was incredible!
It may be a bit of a tourist hot spot but I can understand why and it truly was a very enjoyable dinner spot! Worth the wait!

A perfect afternoon at “Ed’s Garage”. We were new to Theatre Baddeck and didn’t know what to expect - and we had an incredible time. The most charming theatre experience you could ask for! Theatre Baddeck centers shows that cater to the Nova Scotian spirit and are sure to delight and warm your heart. Their new endeavor in their new location is AMAZING. The building already looks so great and I cannot wait to see once they're able to continue the renovations. We came late due to being held up at The Lobster Galley restaurant nearby, but we were kindly allowed in. Didn’t know what I was expecting, but the musicians were pros and atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We were so lucky to get to hear Brian Doyle on the guitar—what incredible talent and work on display.

An unforgettable experience that is not to be missed if you are ever in Baddeck. From June to October for 7 days a week for the past 25 years a Ceilidh Gathering has been happening here. People in the audience from Denmark, Mexico, multiple US states, and almost all provinces of Canada were represented tonight. Buddy Macdonald and Rachel Davis entertained us with such beautiful Celtic and Gaelic music full of pep and gusto that it had us singing along, clapping and foot stomping throughout the 2 hour show.

We visited the restaurant twice on an overnight stay in Baddeck. It is one of the only restaurants open in the off season.
We interacted with a number of the staff and all were very pleasant and friendly. The live music on Sunday was great. Even our 4 month old enjoyed it.
The waterside restaurant location is quite small and more of an intimate dining experience. For supper we had fish chowder, crab dip, haddock and salmon and everything was fantastic. The chowder was one of the best we have ever had.
For breakfast we had eggs Benedict and blueberry pancakes and enjoyed everything. We are already planning our next visit.

Took a short drive from where we were staying in Baddeck to go see this waterfall. The trail had just been groomed and it was pretty easy to get up to the falls. There was a bit of a rock scramble at the end to get close to take pictures. The water seemed to be down a bit but I’m sure it’s amazing in the spring after the snow melt. The trail starts off with a lovely beginner feel with easy gravel paths along the river. As you progress, the trail gets more of a hiking vibe with views of rough waters. Once you beat the beginning and near the end, the trail turns to a more intermediate level hike, no more gravel, climbing some rocks and traversing a section that only one person at a time can cross or risk falling. The reward is epic, one of Nova Scotias highest and most beautiful falls. Enjoy 🙂

Wow wow wow. Easy to find. Bit of a rough road getting there but overall not bad. Easy hike well maintained and good for almost any person. As you get closer the trail becomes a bit more difficult and not as flat be prepared. You walk by all these mini flows and falls and then you get to the grand finale which is absolutely beautiful. Huge amazing waterfall. We tried to climb up and see more but it’s too hard with the proper gear. I highly suggest visiting this waterfall. Water wasn’t bad I went for a little dip and the current isn’t to crazy or deep.

Great place to fight the heat! The supervised swimming section is quite small and limited though with rough sand. It is a sandy entrance into the water though and a gentle descent into deeper water. Rough on the feet after awhile though. Trails are available straight to the lighthouse door and around and through the island. They are marked here and there but are not maintained and be prepared to go off trail into the woods to avoid large fallen trees. The swimming area is great for city folk wanting to see sea creatures! As seen in my pictures attached here in, we found a d held a tiny purple sea star and then came across a dead dark purple jelly fish. Plus there are countless little fish and crayfish swimming and crawling around your feet.
All in all, the ferry ride to and fro is free and it's a great place to spend a hot humid day!!

Great island/beach adventure! There is a free scheduled pontoon boat ride (donation based service - funded through the Lion's Club) over to the island where there is a nice beach to relax on as well as a lighthouse to walk over to and observe. Every moment was special.
We booked a late reservation coming in after finishing the Cabot Trail.
They readily agreed to wait for us if we ran late.
We arrived and asked to be seated outside. There was no seating available so she graciously gave us soft seating for a drink while the guests finished their meals.
The cocktails were perfect. Icy cold but not watered down in ice. The Pepsi for our son was served with the same care as the cocktails.
We enjoyed the seafood fettuccine and the seafood trio. The seafood was beautiful chunks of lobster and white fish along with whole shrimp and scallops. It t came is a creamy seafood sauce that coated the pasta well but did not drown the pasta.
It was a lovely bite overlooking the harbour.
To close the evening we shared the chocolate torte.
Even as the last guests to leave we were offered coffee or a last drink. We did not feel rushed but respected .
I would recommend the restaurant for the visual appeal, the atmosphere the menu and the service.

We were told at hotel reception that the restaurant was booked solid from 6- close but we could be seated if we went at 5. We were able to book an online reservation for 6:30 and then sat in a nearly empty restaurant for over an hour. Not sure what that was about-
Our food was just Ok: very overpriced for what we received. The oysters weren’t great- and served with some sort of vinaigrette in a plastic container. Our seafood pasta was flavorless and the cream sauce was runny. The dessert was an “oatcake sundae” which was a normal ice cream sundae with an oatcake on top.
My husband then ordered a coffee which arrived in a diner mug with a bowl of plastic creamers. All this would be fine if we weren’t being charged $44 for an entree, but that wasn’t the case. Our server was friendly, but it ultimately didn’t make up for the lack of quality in the food.

My husband and I brought our 2 boys to Cape Breton, we drove a long way from PEI. When we arrived it was already 19:00. Lakeside was one of the restaurants that was still open.
We were greeted professionally and the overall services were good. We came near the end of season (we were told the restaurant would be temporarily closed one day after our dinner) so they did not offer everything in the menu. We ordered coconut shrimp and bacon-wrapped scallops as starters to share, followed by a sirloin steak, salmon and duck breast as mains. The food arrived gorgeously and they tasted good as well.
Overall we had had a great dinner in lakeside and felt warmed with their services.

From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was top-notch, and every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Visited as a privately booked small group cruise excursion. Better price and content than what the cruise line offered onboard. Very friendly and professional driver who picked us up by the pier, drove safely and brought us back to the ship on time with no hassle, given the limited hours our ship stayed at port. If you want to see the world famous Cabot Trail during your visit to Sydney (NS), not all cruise lines offer this option. I would recommend it personally but the whole experience will very much depend on the time of the season. If you are lucky enough to come at the right time when the red leaves are in full bloom this place can offer some of the best coast line autumn foliage spectacles anywhere in the world.

Talk about an awesome opportunity to have one on one conversation. Shane was beyond informative. My husband and I took the Cabot Trail tour on Aug. 6. We had been looking forward to this tour for a while hoping to learn more about the area and enjoy an interesting experience. Unfortunately, it was boring and unenlightening. The driver gave almost no commentary about the history or background of the area. Instead he drove with determination and long silences. Most of the passengers dozed off during the trip. Aside from an uncomfortable ride bouncing along in the back seat and hurting my back, we were highly disappointed with our trip. This is probably the tiniest Provincial Park in Nova Scotia, or close to it, if not. It is practically just a pull-off on the road, with a couple of picnic tables and an outhouse. However, we have found it to be one convenient park. It seems every time we are driving by this area, we are in need of a break right around this area. We have used it many times to stop for a bite and a recharge. It is in a beautiful area very close to the water.
