Beautiful, historic fort overlooking the harbor. Many areas are in direct sun so use sunscreen if necessary. There are quite a few stairs to the water level. You will have to pay admission but it's good for both forts in a 24 hour period. San Felipe is really close to the old town historic area. Worth a visit if you like history and learning new things about San Juan.

This is a great place to learn about Puerto Rico's 's history and colonial past. There is plenty to see throughout the whole historian site. I will warn that four-wheelter as he could be a little difficult getting around as this building is from the 1500s. Considering this is a story site, you would think that the United States would do a better job at making it a little more accessible. We used to be able to go down to the lower parts but now those are blocked off. You can still reach the top through A ramp. You are in a wheelchair. If you have issues with heat, make sure you bring plenty of water because it's just gets very hot in there really is no air conditioner. Is a great place for pictures, kite flying, I'm just hanging out on the grass. If you are someone who has a national parks pass, you can get into this place for free. If you have a disability you can apply for one on their website.

The fortress is MASSIVE and so well-preserved. You can really imagine what life was like when soldiers were stationed here hundreds of years ago. The views of the ocean are absolutely stunning - bring your camera! I could have spent hours just taking photos from the different levels. There are so many rooms, tunnels and lookout spots to explore. The staff was friendly and they have these little exhibits explaining the history. I had no idea the fort was attacked so many times throughout history! If you're in San Juan, this is absolutely a must-see. Give yourself at least 2 hours to really explore it properly.

저희는 크루즈를 타고 부두에 내려서 성까지 걸어서 갔습니다.6월이었고 가는 데 한 30분 정도 걸렸는데 습하고 뜨거운 햇살 때문에 가는 동안 땀이 상당히 많이 났습니다. 양산을 쓰는 것을 추천 합니다.
성에 도착하면 입장료가 1인당 10 불입니다. 현금은 받지 않고 크레딧 카드만 받습니다. 역사에 관심 있는 분들이라면 흥미로울수 있는 장소이지만 그냥 일반인들에게는 아~ 이런 곳도 있구나 하는 정도입니다. 딱히 볼만 하다고는 많이 못 느꼈지만 근처에서 딱히 볼만한게 없는 장소였습니다. 부두로 돌아 가는길에 작은 상점들 구경을 좀 하고 기념품도 샀지만 대체적으로 가격이 비싼편입니다. 부두 근처에 노점상이 오히려 가격이 저렴 하고 이쁜것들을 많이 파는 편이었습니다. 일찍 내렸지만 그닥 많이 볼게 없어서 크루즈로 일찍 돌아 왔습니다.
엄청 크고 볼거 많고 경치 장난 아님. 주변에서 연날리는 아이들 많음. 연 하나에 20불에서 25불 이더라... 후달달 그리고 입장권 10불인데 내가 간 날에는 공짜 엿음.
유네스코 세계문화유산으로 주변 경치가 환상적임. 요새도 잘 설계되고 보존도 잘되 너무 좋다. 요새위에서 보는 바다는 너무 아름답다.

Visiting El Morro was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Puerto Rico. The moment you arrive, you can feel the history and pride that this fortress represents. This place is massive. If you attempt to walk the entire grounds definitely wear great walking shoes. Additionally you should have sunscreen, water, and snacks as this place took 4 hours to walk the entire property. Watch out for pickpockets as a member of our group was targeted. From Thursday to Sunday, you go to the third floor (by the escalators near the three Columbus ship flags) and enjoy local food. Unfortunately the staff is not as thrilled for visitors, but as an introvert that worked out in my favor as I like to take my own pace and time absorbing all the art in. Worst museum I ever visited. Artwork was ok but not really for the enjoyment of career artists. Hallways smelled like pot, youngsters, specially girls, looked shabby and were making faces after my girlfriend ask questions about the museum. I recommend the Museum of Puerto Rico, not this garbage. The guy on the ticket center was really disrespectful and depression was the main energy of this place.

An excellent place to stop for some culture. If you want to look at any of the old books you have to schedule that ahead of time though. While we were disappointed not to see anything from theor old collection of books and documents, we still enjoyed the current art on display. The staff was very knowledgeable and informative of what they did have on display. Definitely worth a stop.

A surprise gem in San Juan! The Book Museum is definitely a place I will visit again, except next time, I will follow the process so I can see the antique book exhibit. Without an appointment, you can tour an interesting article exhibit, an area with reproduction printing presses, and their bookstore/gift shop where you can support local writers and artists. One of the local artists was kind enough to spend half an hour describing the printing presses and their workings. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and very outgoing. I made a point of buying some of his works in the gift shop to show my appreciation. Great find and I will be back!

We were very disappointed in our visit. The two staff members were nice, but there’s really nothing to see. There is a small gift shop (maybe 50 books), three old printing presses (no explanations or demonstrations) and one room of artistic prints. That’s it. We asked about seeing the rare book collection mentioned on their website. It requires an appointment and is $70 a person. I don’t know what we were expecting, but it was a lot more than this. We don’t recommend a visit.

Received an invoice for $1,200 for damages we did not do. Unfortunately, I cannot prove this to the Enterprise damage recovery unit as our rental agreement has no mention of the existing damage.
We rented from Rio Piedras location on 4/8/25 and returned to SJU airport location on 4/15. After signing our agreement inside, the agent brought the truck up for us and handed us the keys. As this was happening they mentioned there was a dash indicator on for a tire pressure fault but ‘it is always like that and we do not need to worry about it’.
Well we now we are stuck with a $1,200 bill for something we know we did not do. Our fault for not thinking more of it in that moment? Unfortunately, yes. Is Enterprise still perusing payment after we disputed and explained the situation? Yes.
To be clear, the staff was friendly and helpful that day. We were happy with our experience until an invoice arrived in the mail unannounced a month after getting home. I don’t believe it was their intent to mislead us.
The only proof I have is a photo from inside the truck as we left the rental office, not even a block away. You can roughly see the dash message of “tire pressure sensor fault” displayed. You can see the vehicle’s location in proximity to the office on the navigation.
The $1200 lesson, take photos and videos of the vehicle before taking possession and if someone says “don’t worry about it”, tear up the agreement and start over.

We were going to Uber while on vacation but the enterprise was right at the hotel . It was cheaper to rent the car and so glad we did. Driving was better than Europe. After having a nightmare experience with Avis at the San Juan airport where two of the cars they gave us had roaches and were completely filthy- we turned to Enterprise in Condado and were so relieved when the process went perfect! Car was 100% clean. The service was so quick and easy. I also appreciated them reaching out mid week of the rental to check that everything was going smooth. Enterprise always delivers. But this office exceeded the high bar already in my mind from years of using this company.
We sailed in on the Windstar Pride. They called the day before we landed to confirm our reservation and our pick up at the pier.
When we debarked they had a direct line to the office we could call to make sure we met up with the driver. They came so quickly we were very pleasantly surprised. And all the staff were fluently bilingual which really helps as our Spanish is rusty.
At the office the agents were so welcoming and friendly. What a great start to our 10 days in PR!
The icing on the cake was upon returning the car. Of course the desk staff were efficient. The young man who drove us back to our hotel (gosh I wish I know his name. But he was the employee who was driving his dad’s red mustang bc his car was getting repaired) was just the best. His stories about what happen his car and the stories about his dad’s cars were funny and enlightening. It was barely a 5 minute ride and we’ve already been here 9 days but it was the best experience we had the whole visit with a local.

Just a few blocks from the main cathedral basilica, the church stands out prominently at the end of a street, a beautiful white facade. Inside is very special as well. The main area of the church is reverent, and there are many side aisles and chapels. Beautiful statues, paintings, sculptures are found throughout the church. There are also several areas where, as they modernize the church, the original stone and brick structure of the building can be seen. That’s pretty cool! Much history there! A wonderful place to visit regardless of your religious affiliation! Highly recommend a visit to Inglesia de San Jose!

I want to give this place five stars because I believe that it is a highly important archaeological site. The history of the place is amazing. However the site is in a state of disrepair. They even closed the place down. You can drive by and see the ruins. But can’t go into the small museum. It is truly a shame for Puerto Rico’s heritage and that of the rest of the “New World“. I wish the local or state government would take better care of the place. They could even start by taking care of the small stuff like cutting the grass and perhaps painting the fence and the museum walls. Let’s hope that it doesn’t completely disappear. Could you imagine spending centuries only to have the most modern and advanced society destroy it?

The statue hall was really cool, the athlete statues look very realistic. I want to give this place five stars because I believe that it is a highly important archaeological site. The history of the place is amazing. However the site is in a state of disrepair. They even closed the place down. You can drive by and see the ruins. But can’t go into the small museum. It is truly a shame for Puerto Rico’s heritage and that of the rest of the “New World“. I wish the local or state government would take better care of the place. They could even start by taking care of the small stuff like cutting the grass and perhaps painting the fence and the museum walls. Let’s hope that it doesn’t completely disappear. Could you imagine spending centuries only to have the most modern and advanced society destroy it?

Se dice que el nombre de este pueblo deriva de la unión de los vocablos taínos Guay, na y abo, que en conjunto significan he aquí un lugar de agua dulce o de vida. También se dice que el nombre data de la época cuando el Cacique Mabó tenía su aldea en esta región.
El primer poblado español de Puerto Rico se llamó Caparra, en recordación de una antigua ciudad romana ubicada en la provincia de Extremadura. Fue fundado por Juan Ponce de León y construido en 1509 en una localidad del actual barrio Pueblo Viejo de Guaynabo. La aldea se trasladó a la isleta de San Juan entre 1519 y 1521, y su ubicación original se olvidó hasta 1917, cuando las ruinas fueron descubiertas durante la ampliación de la carretera número 2. Los valles fértiles de la región fueron colonizados nuevamente y para 1723 existía un poblado. Los esfuerzos por fundar un pueblo se intensificaron en 1764 bajo el liderato de José Valerio Meléndez y tuvieron éxito alrededor de 1768. Entre 1870 y 1875 el territorio de Guaynabo fue repartido entre Bayamón y Río Piedras, pero el municipio recobró su independencia en el 1912.
