Mission Beach is stunning! It has picture perfect palms, you know, the ones that you sit or lounge on that are right on the beach. You can see Dunk Island off the coastline. We were told by the Information Centre that recently, Dunk has been redeveloped after being hammered by a cyclone. As there were road works in town, we parked our car at the Information Centre and took a walk along the board walk alongside this pretty beach and past the Caraven Park into town. It is every bit that we had imagined from the photos on the net and more. Will come back another day and stay for a couple of weeks. Highly recommended.

We spent a few nights in our van at the back of the park (our choice) on site 54. Cool and quiet under the shade of the trees. Amenities were always clean and management were very friendly and accommodating. Just across the road from our favourite beach and Sunday markets. An easy walk to everything Mission Beach has to offer. Thanks for making our getaway peaceful and trouble free.

Thank you Gerald and the whole Hideaway team! You saved my birthday weekend and made it special. To cut a long story short I arrived with 2 children and 2 dogs at 9pm in the rain on Friday after being unable to get into the air BnB I booked. Gerald quickly answered the after hours number and checked us into an ensuite cabin. It was extremely clean, well appointed and had ample bedding (crisp white sheets). Cute kitchen and bathroom too. The kids were super happy especially with the massive pool and slide! I loved the safe, quiet location across from the beach and Mission beach markets and shops. I let the girls explore by themselves whilst I enjoyed seeing the property and meeting some lovely guests. What really got me (and one of the many reasons I’m booking again, is falling asleep to the sound of the waves! My only regret is not having stayed before -I can’t wait to book the new cabins or even the rainforest cabins. Thank you so much for an unforgettable weekend !

We had a really good stay at Hideaway. The location is terrific, cabins clean, and the staff were great. It’s a great place for boaties, room for boats and fish cleaning facility. We had to leave in a hurry due to a medical emergency and Gerard and his staff were very helpful in keeping our gear and boat safe. Highly recommend Hideaway.

My husband & I recently stayed in one of the new pet friendly cabins & absolutely loved it! The cabin was very clean, the aircon worked perfectly & cooled the whole space, & we even had a lovely little glimpse of the ocean from our balcony 🌊🐾
The staff were super friendly (Shout out to Gerald for being wonderful, who also had an amazing phone manner!) & they were very accommodating, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Plus, the location is perfect being just a short stroll to the beach across the road & the tavern practically next door that did take away of their whole food menu!
We couldn’t have asked for more. Very grateful & highly recommend! ✨

We had a last minute get away and chose mission beach, The grounds are neat and well kept the amenities are clean and tidy and the rooms are nice and clean, the recent management change has certainly been welcomed. The staff are very accommodating to everyone.
Was a very good experience all round for our short getaway and will hopefully be back before Christmas.

Surprisingly large market with quality stores. A lot of unique arts, crafts and items I haven't seen at other markets.
Food options are also good, we enjoyed the German sausages, artisan sourdough, cinnamon donuts and a delicious steak and egg sandwich.

Don't let the current construction nearby (March 2025) turn you away from this place. Owner/operator is very focused on service and it shows with everything he does. I had the bacon and egg muffin and wife had the banana bread, both came out perfectly. Drinks were spot on and exceed expectations. If you are staying at The Castaways, do yourself a favor and walk the 5 minutes down the road and enjoy a phenomenal breakfast or lunch. We waited over an hour for our food (I think they forgot about us), as we watched the family who ordered after us receive their drinks well before us, and then their food, and then finish and leave before we got our meals. We waited over half an hour just for our drinks. I understand it gets busy, it was a busy morning (only a small cafe though), and I would’ve been more forgiving and probably not written this review if the waitress had been even just a little bit friendly. Just one smile even. A good attitude and friendly demeanour goes a long way when dealing with customers.

I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever encountered. The service was extremely slow, which I could have tolerated if the staff had at least been kind — but unfortunately, the opposite happened.

We had our wedding reception at Plenty and honestly could not have asked for a more perfect night. Jude and the entire team went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble, and every little detail was taken care of with care and precision.
Jude’s passion for what he does truly shines through. From the initial planning right through to the end of the night, he made us feel understood. So many of our guests couldn’t stop talking about how incredible the food was, from the taste to the beautifully presented courses.
The atmosphere was wonderful, with the most stunning beachfront backdrop. It created the perfect setting for us to celebrate with our loved ones. The service was exceptional, the team was professional and kind, and everything came together better than we could have imagined.

We had the the $23 breakfast deal, for unlimited breaky and tea/coffee. Great value for breakfast. We had the Pork Roll’d and the Good morning Cambodia, the meals were so big served and delicious! Perfect for those that like breaky with an Asian twist! Iced coffees were perfect and great service from Jude the owner, who was very friendly and accomodating! I went snorkelling in Mission Beach 20 years ago (whilst pregnant with my daughter), and decided to come back with my daughter this year to snorkel again. We had an amazing and perfect day out on the Barrier Reef snorkelling yesterday with the team from Mission Beach Dive. The boat is spacious, comfortable, roomy and exceptionally clean and tidy with great facilities. The crew were friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable and the two reefs that we visited were world class and the fish were saw were amazing and the best I’ve ever seen. The reef was colorful and there were so many different types of fish. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

We had a wonderful time with the team at the Great Barrier Reef. An unbelievable experience for the four of us. Very well organized and a great spirit. As we were not that experienced with snorkeling, the team took the time to explain and help us with exploring the reef.

여기서, 오전에 제가 당일 저녁에 시드니로 돌아가는 비행기가 예약되어 있어서 언제 케언즈 숙소로 돌아가는지 문의했었는데
12시쯤은 가능할거다라고 안내해줬습니다.
하지만 손님들이 추가로 방문하면서 저는 실제로 다이빙을 12시 넘어서 진행하였고, 다이빙 후 케언즈로 언제 돌아가냐고 문의하니깐 4시넘어서 출발할거라고 안내를 해줬습니다.
그래서 저는 6시 비행기를 타야해서 4시 넘어서 출발하면 안된다고 하니깐 직원분께서 비행기를 변경하라는 황당스러운 답변을 받았습니다.(심지어 미안하다는 소리도 안하심)
보니깐, 버스 1대로 운영을해서 손님이 중간에 늘어나면 케언즈로 복귀하는 시간이 늦어지는 시스템이었음
그래서 여기 손님들은 5분 스카이다이빙하고 나머지 8시간 넘게 대기해야하는 참사를 경험하게 됩니다.
저는 어쩔수 없이 왕복 택시비 400AUD를 지불해서 공항으로 돌아갔습니다.

I had an amazing experience on this snorkel tour! In the first snorkeling session, we were thrilled to spot a cuttlefish and a giant pufferfish. During the second session, we were lucky enough to see four sharks.
The beaches on dunk island were another highlight; they were so serene and relaxing, perfect for unwinding after the snorkeling. The whole experience was well organized, and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves marine life and remote islands.

A fantastic day of amazing sights! We were picked up in Cairns and had a lovely coach trip (with informative commentary) to Mission Beach. We then boarded the boat to the reef, where our brilliant guide took us snorkelling around the beautiful reef. We saw stunning coral, and so many fish. We were then provided a light snack, before going back out on the reef, we saw 4 reef sharks this time! Followed by lunch and refreshments.
Then onto Dunk Island for an hour or so of walking and relaxing.
A really full, fun and great day out. The crew were very helpful and friendly. And the snorkelling on the reef was an amazing experience me and my boyfriend will never forget.
Fantastic trip (much better than over priced and over crowded alternatives!), would highly recommend.

So beautiful to visit both Dunk Island and the Reef 🪸 We enjoyed looking at all the pretty shells 🐚 on the island then a quick trip out to the reef for some guided snorkeling where the coral and marine life were stunning! I had an amazing experience on the Great Barrier Reef tour from Mission Beach! The company provided exceptional service, and I want to give a special thanks to the captain and the snorkel guide. Awesome trip with great staff on board. The crew were punctual, polite and helpful with guiding our adventure on the reef. Lunch was delicious and food was plentiful. It was lovely being in a small group instead of one of hundreds in a boat. It added a special touch to the already great trip. Would definitely book again !

We were delighted by this incredible accommodation. Mike welcomed us with his wonderful smile, fruit punch and cold hand towels to refresh ourselves . Sea Dreams is immaculately designed and furnished, comfortable, equipped and clean.

Absolute bliss. We had a wonderful 6 nights. Rob and Michael were amazing hosts and the accommodation was superb. Watching the sun rise over the ocean from our bed and enjoying sunset drinks on our daybed were highlights. A beautiful stroll to the village and so many sightseeing options nearby. Beautiful modern building with 2 rooms to rent. The rooms face out towards the beach/ocean for terrific views, we had a beautiful sunrise. The owners seem to have thought of everything.
When we arrived Mike came out to greet us and provide a wonderful introduction to our accommodations. Mike gave us a great recommendation for dinner, our meals were terrific.
There are precise instructions for everything. We used the glass bottom kayaks, they included the instructions for use and the location to kayak to for the best viewing.
The self serve breakfast was great.
We wished we were staying for more than one night!

Absolutely amazing! Mike and Rob were truly amazing hosts and would go out of their way to make your stay perfect.
Their attention to detail was paramount. The E-bikes were a hit with us but we didn’t get to try the glass bottom kayaks due to windy weather but we had sunshine over Easter!
Their infinity pool over looking the ocean was great as were the sun lounges. So relaxing!
Their recommendations for lunch and dinner were grateful, as we had the most delicious meals over the weekend.
You couldn’t want for anything in the rooms and the continental breakfast was over and above!

Ich war schon in einigen wirklich guten und luxuriösen Unterkünften in der Welt. Aber dieses wundervolle Haus wird noch lange in meiner Erinnerung bleiben. Worker was so rude, I asked a very simple question about the presence of certain dairy in their smoothies. I was met with a "well if you actually read the menu, you'll see what is in the smoothies." I was appalled at the gall of this woman to ask that when she's serving food and I have an intolerance. There won't be a next time for us as their smoothies taste like the bottom of a compost bin and I watched as she parkoured out the window for some reason mid way making the smoothie. Excellent smoothies and a lovely array of pastries and cookies. We found the owner very welcoming. It was one of our family's favourite places to get fresh smoothies at reasonable prices. We are from Perth, WA and currently on holiday and staying in Cardwell. We visited Mission Beach today as there was a Sunday market. We saw Leny's shop and we thought "yeah...just another" fruit shop. You do see a lot of fruit shops in QLD.
It was a warm day and we went into Leny's shop for some freshly squeezed juice and on my way out, I grabbed a packet of dried mango. I didnt think much of it. We drove back to Cardwell (an hour drive).
Back in Cardwell, sitting on the couch and talking about how beautiful Mission Beach was... I opened the packet of dried mango I had bought from Leny's. I was completely blown away. It is the best dried mango i have ever tasted to date! And I have eaten plenty of dried mangoes in the past. I gave my husband one piece to try and he couldnt stop eating them. Leny's dried mangoes are so aromatic, delicious and succulent. Not hard, dry or with the texture of plastic.. The flavour is so beautiful, they are such a joy to eat and they are 100% pure mango goodness (no suphites or sugar added).
It didnt take much to persuade my husband to drive me immediately back to Mission Beach to buy some more of the heavenly taste. I came away with another 10 more packets of dried mangoes and a happy face and an even happier stomach. Leny's such a lovely lady and I can tell how passionate she is at delivering the best produce for her customers. Do yourself a favour... if you are ever in Mission Beach, head down to Leny's and get the dried mangoes! It is the BEST!

Aghhhhhhh. I really liked my first feel good banana and the whole sustainable ethic behind them. It’s a healthier yet still yummy alternative to an ice cream on my way home from work to the train. But I felt ripped off paying $6 for one banana coated in chocolate. I could buy 3-4 fresh bananas instead and an ice cream is cheaper. I loved these so much when I was on holidays in Cairns that I've started making them myself in Brisbane. Not as good as the real thing, but still great!
If you want to make your own, here's how I do mine. Get some ladyfinger or cavendish bananas (whichever your prefer) from your local grocer, and get some melting chocolate buttons from coles, dark or milk (although I find you get the best results with 50/50 milk to dark).
Peel them all and stick a cocktail stick of paddlepop stick through the banana, stick them on a baking paper tray and put em in your freezer. If your freezer has an 'express freeze' functionality you can get bananas with a smoother ice-cream texture. Then, after they're frozen, melt down your chocolate.
It can be hard melting chocolate without burning it and getting a grainy sludge, so what I do is get a kettle full of boiling water and place it in a thick bowl. Then I put a plate on top and the steam warms the plate enough for the chocolate to melt smoothly.
Then, grab a spoon and slather your bananas in chocolate. Because you've prefrozen them, the chocolate will harden smoothly on the banana. Stick em on your baking tray and put them back in the freezer. After an hour or so, depending on your freezer temperature, you'll have your own homemade feel good bananas to munch on.
It takes about half an hour to make 10. But again, if you can support Feel Good Bananas and their business. It's a really fantastic product.

What an amazing experience, which was far beyond our expectations. A fantastic opportunity to see the reef with absolute experts in everything to do with the reef. Adele was great with the kids, showing them specific corals and fish, explaining their importance and how they have grown. They showed us loads of different locations, with amazing corals. We even saw turtles, humpback whales and pilot whales. The lunch provided was nice and fresh, which, again, the kids loved. Adele and Stuart both had to do some scientific studies whilst out there, which they fully engaged the kids with to assist the submissions of their findings. A great day had by all. Thanks again.

These guys are the nicest people in the world we had an absolute ball on our private half day tour. The snorkelling locations were some of the best I have ever seen with such beautiful coral and wildlife. Adele and Stuart were absolutely first class with their communication, friendliness and eagerness to help. Right from the very beginning to help arrange our accomodation booking to navigating the new year period with respect to sorting out our provisions for our stay on Bedarra Island (which proved difficult due to the limited operating hours of the local woolies during this time of the year). Adele had the latest updates for us and always strategy to go with it. It was nice and relaxing knowing someone local is looking out for you. Stuart was great also and provided lots on information during our trip over on the boat. Hey made sure the trip was comfortable for the kids and got us there and back on time.
We absolutely recommend and wouldn't hesitate to use MIssion Beach Charters services again when returning for holidays. We will be sure to recommend them to our family and friends.

I planned a surprise proposal to my Girlfriend on the Barrier Reef, Coming from Sydney and never having been to North Queensland I was really sure what to do. But I rang mission beach charters after seeing their private island camping. Adele could not have been anymore helpful, she arranged everything for me down to the very last detail. There is nothing more amazing than snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef with a Marine Biologist and two of the most intelligent and delightful people ever to be around. My sons (8 & 11) and I went on a snorkeling half day with GBRS and had an experience of a lifetime. They made it so easy, from preempting questions, providing comprehensive information and rapid responses to seamless logistics on the day. The locations they chose were spectacular…if available, make sure you opt for the extra hour as you won’t regret it. The seafood lunch was a delicious, fresh feast which we all loved, despite having two quite challenging dietary requirements. The children felt supported and learnt so much, as I did. I was worried about equipment and packed rashvests and masks, especially for the smallest boy as fit can be difficult but I shouldn’t have bothered as their kit was excellent and far better than mine! I’m so grateful to Adele & Stuart for giving us this special family memory we’ll always cherish. They made us feel millionaires and we are already planning our next adventure with them. I feel like I should balance this review with something that could’ be improved but I literally can’t think of a single thing!

Adele and Stuart have created the perfect Great Barrier Reef experience. We have been on two tours with them out to the GBR, and on both occasions they had great service and took us to quiet and brilliant parts of the the Reef. Adele is a marine biologist so snorkelling with her was eye opening. She taught us about coral bleaching, some of the conservation work being conducted in the area and made sure we got a glimpse of all the beautiful fish, turtles and coral. They have a great understanding and respect for the environment which make their personal tours hard to beat.

Annette is my hero! My husband and I visited Mission Beach in March 2023. We only had just under two days to visit. My husband worked on Dunk Island as a young man and had many fond memories of the island and the beautiful environment. We could not find anyone to take us out to the island. Annette did not have enough guests to make the trip, but when she heard our story, she went out of her way and did the boat trip just for us! A group of us went out yesterday with Great Barrier Reef Fishing and Island Tours. WOW what an amazing experience. Annette and David where incredible hosts that looked after us incredibly well. There knowledge of the area meant we landed an esky full of fish. They even organised the local restaurant to cook up our catch last night for dinner. 100% recommend!!! We will be back!!!

We only walked about halfway and then back as we were under prepared with water and it was a really hot sunny day. We had to climb over maybe 3 little bits that there had clearly been a landslide recently. But there were plenty of track marks to tell us that lots of people had already been over them and they didn't feel unsafe in any way. We had a wonderful experience here at the Information Centre. It is the first thing that you see heading into town. The lady and fella were both extremely friendly and helpful, pointing out various places of interest all the way up to Cooktown and giving us maps to find them. They also said that as there are road works in town, it would be best to leave the car here and take a stroll along the boardwalk beside the beach into town.
We did just that and it was most enjoyable.

Just a big shout to Dave at Mission Beach information centre. We visited mission beach November last year with my parents and went to the information centre. They were so lovely in there, turned on the cassowary display and chatted. My parents bought my daughter a cassowary shoe charm. She loved it. However lost the shoe with the charm on it last month. I rang The information centre and spoke to Dave. He got more charms ordered for me to purchase and so very kindly posted them to my daughter. Such over and beyond customer service you are a champion. So if you’re in the region head in and greet Dave and the crew at the Mission Information centre and grab a coffee and a chat.

Wanted to book a reef tour and waited until the couple in front of us was served; each of the 2 centre assistants had one couple of tourists with them. We looked at all the things on offer, got a local map, waited and waited; and waited some more. No acknowledgment from anybody. The helpful advice given to one couple in the meantime, had advanced now to bicycle riding on Magnetic Island. We hired some bikes together for the afternoon to go do a bike trail at the back of mission beach, the Musgravea Track which is approx 5kms from one end to the other 🚲
Ended up covering about 20kms on the bike in total by the time you ride from the bike hire location up the hill to the start of the trail and return ⛰
The trail was corrugated and very bumpy with a couple of bridge crossings but overall not too difficult! Well worth it, great afternoon out!
