The various galleries were nice and had a decent variety of different time periods throughout US history, however I personally would have really liked to have seen a bit more variety, diversity and more inspiring styles of art versus their mostly canvas, portraits, landscapes and oil paintings of traditional southern life. Our Dorset was knowledgeable and encouraged engagement and creative thinking about the various pieces on exhibit. Mrs. Marion also did an excellent job with the kids in the arts and crafts department and really inspired the younger generations creativity through art and imagination.

After eating brunch at the Brunch House of Augusta we drove to the Savannah River walk off of 10th street. We noticed that some young artists were painting a mural on the side of a building. This project is a two week mural camp. Young people sign up and pay to do this camp. Mural artist Jason Craig is one of the teachers involved in this project. There are several buildings around the city of Augusta that have been painted by these artists student campers. This caught my attention because art and wood carving are two of my hobbies. I love to support local businesses and art education.

Very nice beside the Savanah river walkway. We'll decorate with antique oil paintings. It's not so big but it's worthy to visit with alone, or with friends and family. You have to pay but Sunday is free.

Affordable, well organized, variety of different types of art. We spent about 1.5 hours here as I studied many pieces. Front desk staff was welcoming and helpful. Please leave your food or drinks in the car before you go, they aren't allowed in the exhibit. There is a small gift shop here.

I adore the Morris. There is so much to see and it is well curated. I enjoy that they have traveling exhibits, so there is usually something new to see each visit. Beautiful and spacious interior. Well kept and clean. There are such fantastic pieces here, and so many things to pique your interest, and to learn about.

Just learning about the history of Augusta and surrounding area would be plenty, but you also get a great history of the sport of golf, and a tribute to the "hardest working man in show business", James Brown!!!
There is so much on display, and how it is laid out brings surprises at each corner. Some of the displays are interactive. My photos try to capture the most significant things, but certainly not all.
There is also a self-guided audio tour that can be accessed using your smartphone.

Was a very nice experience especially if you like museums about local history and culture, some of my wife’s family live in Augusta and we visit occasionally. They have plenty of interactive and interesting things to do, they also have an audio tour that you just use a QR code with your phone, was very clean and so where the restrooms. This place was really nice for $5 a person. Like definitely underpriced for how much you get out of the museum. But this place is so nice and has so much to look at. I loved the little artifacts about James Brown, I had no clue he was from Augusta Georgia. Yeah anyways definitely stop by this place

All I know of Augusta is that it's the home of the Masters, it's on the Savannah River, it's downtown has seen better days, and that is perfectly half way between Beaufort SC and Atlanta GA.
Now that I've visited the Augusta Museum of History I know a lot more about the town and the people it has produced, primarily it's native son James Brown.
But there's a lot more to the region, from Native American settlers to riverboats to trains. I'm fact there's a full size engine right in the museum.
If your looking for a good overview of the town and the region the Augusta Mission of History is the perfect place to get it in a couple of hours. After the museum, walk the Riverwalk and then through the town to see all the places you just learned about and experience the resilience of the townspeople as the celebrate their heritage.

What an amazing experience. Great museum dedicated to a pioneer in her own right for the sacrifices she made to educate young Black kids. When I got there, the museum was closed, but call the number on the front door, and a young lady will come and let you in. The military discount is $5.00. We recently arranged a field trip to see the museum, and more specifically, an installation of art work honoring women artists. The space was clean, elegant, warm, and inviting. The installation was amazing with beautiful artwork in several different styles. The artist talk by Rhian Swain was informative and inspirational. I visited this museum last year in 2023. I paid to go on a field trip with a group of people with Aiken Senior life services here in Aiken SC.It was a wonderful experience to, see all of the famous people that have lived in Augusta GA such as James Brown, Laurence Fishbone. So many beautiful photos of African American people that I remember studying about in my history classes in public schools such as, Harriet Tudman, Fredrick Douglas. Education is essential.The staff gave us a tour ,and we watched a movie about Lucy craft Laney ,and the legacy that she left behind.RIP God bless Aiken Senior life services.

This home was once the Manse for the First Presbyterian Church, of which "Tommy's" father was the Pastor.
Next door was the home of Joseph Lamar, who later became an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Tommy and Joseph played baseball together as is shown on the team roster that Tommy wrote.

Really enlightening experience! New to the area and wanted to get a feel for things. The council does an awesome job with everything! There are some great museums in the area, feels super underrated. We were the only people, which made the experience personal and interactive. The tour was about an hour long, not rushed through. Everything is placed so perfectly, you almost feel like you’re stepping back in time to take a peek in the past.

This was an awesome place to tour. Very informative tour and tour guide. I highly recommend it if you are in town and have time. Only 10 bucks for adults. And lots of historical information. Don't recommend little ones unless they are highly supervised. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

After driving down from the other Wilson home in Columbia, South Carolina, where the guide seemed either distracted or ignorant of the pieces throughout the museum (mostly reading from the signs), it was nice to see a strong, insightful guide who knew almost every inch of the Augusta house, someone who was prepared, friendly, and eloquent. Honestly, if Wilson were alive to see how his childhood home in Augusta was being curated, I think he’d be proud.

This visit turned out to be MUCH better than we expected.
We needed a day trip from Greenville,SC. We wanted to fly our little plane somewhere within a 1 hour flight time.
We decided to fly to Augusta to visit Wilson's childhood home.
The general aviation airport, KDNL was great and close to downtown.
The FBO has courtesy cars but we wanted to be away longer than they permit. We took Uber ($11.00)
to the Woodrow Wilson childhood home.
SO NICE. Great introductory video.! Even better personal guide. The home was in beautiful condition.
We both thought we knew Wilson's background pretty well but the visit brought really interesting facts to our attention.
We want to go back to Augusta and spend the night . There were some interesting hotels and bars.
Highly recommend.. especially for pilots and their families.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd annual Canal Discovery day on April 15th 2023. The Canal Discovery Center has a detailed walkable museum that is interactive for all ages. They also offer boat rides with a guide that tells the history of the canal, its workers, the history of the buildings along the canal and the story of the people who hand dug the canal.
Id highly recommend a visit to this wonderful local museum for the whole family.

On Saturday 5/21/22, we arrived at the Canal Discovery Center at around 9:45am for their 10am canal boat tour. We were a little dismayed that the tour boat might be at capacity. We hung around to wait and see about a large group that was running a little late. The Discovery Center staff was great and they worked it out that we were able to go on the tour also. The boat guide and captain were great. We really enjoyed the hour long canal tour. We had no idea that the canal was so vital to Augusta's history. It was very informative. We also enjoyed the museum where we learned so much more about the area history. If you're in the area and looking for something to do, I highly recommend this.

They had wonderful costumed tour guides that give you fun and interesting history facts while you walk around the home. They had live music and their gift shop is amazing! Very interesting Colonial Era house, history, artifacts, and story of one of the lesser known signers of The Declaration of Independence. A History Teacher and Daughter of The Revolution was on hand that day to educate and answer questions. Not only was his family property seized and he taken prisoner by The British but he sent his wife to family in Charleston hoping for her safety, and she too was arrested separately off her ship and held prisoner for his SIGNATURE ON OUR DECLARATION. We should study and learn who gave what sacrifices to stand for our FREEDOMS and appreciate them and the HUGE prices they paid. It inspires me as a Veteran to continue standing firm for our nation, and our our Enlightened Founding Principles.

My group was more interested in the architecture history of the house and she was able to provide tons of information about the house and point out interesting architecture details. Of all the historic home tours we've done over the years this was one of the best. No blue hair giving you a rehearsed spiel. The tour is done by a classically trained curator who is engaging and knowledgeable. Highly recommended if you want to have serious historical discussions with someone who knows their stuff.

I definitely walked into a piece of American history today at the home of George Walton, one of the signers of the declaration of independence. An amazing landmark right here in Augusta's backyard that I was previously unaware of, I was delighted to learn that today it was free. Through a grant from the Daughters of the American Revolution, efforts are underway to complete a planned 10-year restoration project. They are currently into their third year, and things are starting to look pretty good.
So, I spent a good hour and a half there, and I learned quite a bit. Because it was a free day, there were quite a few people present. Unfortunately, I think the presentation suffered a little bit because of it. But I'm sure if you go during the week when there isn't as many people, they would take their time and and it wouldn't feel as rushed as it did.
Overall, however, I believe it was worth it and my time was well spent. I learned a lot today. Next time you're looking for something to do in augusta, I believe it would be worth it to take the time and have a tour, to get a little history lesson concerning a very important event affecting all of us in this great country of ours.

Maybe the fall would’ve been a better time to visit since it was so hot. We managed to walk the riverwalk anyway and it was very pleasant. There’s a shop at the end with water and ice cream and bathrooms which was a life saver! Such a great place for a run too. Only disappointment was the playground was broken down and fenced off. The Riverwalk in Augusta is a beautiful place to enjoy a stroll along the Savannah River. Update! After a few months and maybe with my review the river walk is looking back to normal! The playground needs to be fixed more but way safer. Homeless people are sleeping on it but there may not be much you all can do. Thank you for making this part of downtown beautiful again 🤗
I love taking my dog downtown to walk and since the hurricane trees have been down for several months. They have started the process of cutting them but not removing them.
It seems ridiculous to let the quality of the Riverwalk go down but enhance the area leading up to National Hill. Our tax dollars should have paid also for this to be renovated.
It has been 8 months since the hurricane and this should have been removed before now. Someone or their child is going to get hurt because people still try to play on the playground & enjoy the Riverwalk.
Let's do more Augusta before we loose even more funds to our city. We must care more than the Masters!

Pretty path to walk! Lovely sunrise! I stayed at the Marriott and walked along the river walk one morning. It felt a bit desolate in some areas and some folks were sleeping on park benches. I was hoping there would be some businesses and life along the path, but in my short walk, I didn’t find any (I think because of the floods they’ve had along there). Beautiful venue with a lot of great views, I attended this former cathedral to assist a candlelight event which was beyond excellent. The atmosphere of it makes it so unique and it truly feels like you’re in Barcelona or another colonial city, I wish I could’ve been there for longer to appreciate all the detail in this place.

A truly exhilarating experience to visit the Sacred Heart Cultural Center. We were meant to buy some truly passionate ladies who informed us of the history of the cultural center and what is currently going on within its walls. There are brochures and a lovely little gift shop that you can visit after your self-guided tour of the Great Hall. The stained glass windows each hold their own unique story, artists and beauty thats a true wonder to experience.
You can rent this place as well, which makes any event memorable. I have attended quite a few events at this lovely historical building and each one has been a wonderful memory attached with it.

The theatre is a little small but comfortable. It went through renovations years ago. It is clean but needs some repairs to safety rails near the handicapped seating area.
Just before entering the theatre there are two bar/snack areas. Each offer candy bars, wine and basic mixed drinks for sale.

Nice place. Of the many photos other people have taken, I didn't see the point of view of someone handicapped (as I am) so I wanted to include these. Photos of where I sat (front row) to show the amount of space available for people to walk by. I walk with crutches so I wasn't sure where I could put them but they "fit" safely in front of me against the small curtain above the orchestra pit. There was plenty of room to walk in front of that front row. Pictures of the back area show what I presume to be the "handicap area." I'm not sure, but I guess that's where someone in a wheelchair might go. And the aisle down to the front is fairly steep! I'm not sure what the incline is but you gotta be careful on crutches. Very nice and comfortable theater. I confess I didn't hear every word of every song, maybe my hearing is going 😄

Definitely a cool part of Augusta history, I think the volume is a little high and distorts voices when actors are singing. Acoustics are a little off, with a little too much of the sound waves bouncing off walls/ceilings awkwardly.

Giving this place the benefit of the doubt ... we had brunch here on a Thursday before noon. It wasn't too busy when we arrived. Table of four, 2 orders of Brunch House Biscuits, 1 Brunch House Platter & 1 Brunch House Benedict ... should have been simple enough to serve at the same time. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. We had a VERY long wait for our food then we were served the Benedict and 1 order of the Biscuits. We began eating assuming the rest would shortly follow, a few (or more) minutes go by and we were approached saying they ran out of the pork gravy and could not produce the other Biscuit order. She changed to a yogurt parfait and was served shortly after. Que another wait for the Brunch Platter. C'mon man. We all come from restaurant backgrounds so this was a tough pill to swallow. It's hard to understand how these meals weren't served closer together or how they didn't realize the gravy issue on the second identical order prior to serving the first.
Now, for the actual food review. The biscuits were SO dry, like the last one I literally couldn't eat because it was rock hard on the bottom and outside. The flavor of the gravy and overall taste of the biscuits (had they been fresh) were good. The Benedict looked the best of everything we ordered, I don't eat seafood so I don't personally know about the taste but our 18 year old son enjoyed it. They were out of the smoked brisket beef sausage so my husband ordered the sausage. The first set looked like hockey pucks (see photo) - dude, were you in competition with my biscuits!? They did bring him 2 more fresh slices without being asked but honestly I'd be embarrassed to serve the first one period. And, the biscuit on his plate WAS fresh, soft & edible ... so presumably I was just rather unlucky.
The staff was friendly, the vibe was good. I might give this place a second chance but it's not at the top of my list currently.

Sweet potato stuffed French toast, catfish and grits and the homemade turkey sausage were fantastic! Sausage seasoned well and was moist and tender. The location was open when we arrived. To be honest, museum is a strong word for its title - it reminded me of a free play daycare center that had a desk at the front? That being said, my 5 year old kiddo had a BLAST lol we were looking for an activity to do outside of our hotel but it was chilly. This was perfect. He played at the different stations and met a few friends. They do have a separate baby area if you have younger. I'd say this is perfect for babies - 6 year Olds (no older than that). The volunteer was very kind, friendly and kept toys clean! I'd return.

We couldn't have asked for a better day. The Tournament was super special and the greens were breathtaking. I was able to go by asking a Golf group on Facebook and a random guy called me and gave me tickets. The Staff was super nice and we didn't have any problems. You have to be one of the lucky one to experience this, I was fortunate enough to be there and looking forward to going back. I love the Par 3 contest, it's a fun and relaxing atmosphere. You're up close to all the action on every hole. Everything is first class here, so organized. Parking is free, food is inexpensive and the whole place is immaculate. Hope to be back next year!!!!!

If the azaleas are blooming, then it's even more of a spectacle. I typically like to come for the par 3 tournament since the players are much looser and will interact with you. One of the last times here, my wife is able to get most of the tournaments players' signatures on her flag. Arnold Palmer even hit me home on one of his shots, which was well worth it getting to meet him and speak for a few minutes. Food prices haven't changed and probably 40 years. You have to get one of their pimento cheese sandwiches it is a true tradition. It is like no other. It's something that will give you lasting memories.

Bucket list item for myself and the experience at the Masters lived up to all the hype. It is without question the most beautiful golf course in the world. The staff and patrons all treat you like family. The facilities, food court and shops are impeccably clean. My only criticism is that the logistics of the gift shop could be improved, over an hour to get in and by the time you shop and check out you can plan on missing 2 hours of play. With that being said it still does not devalue the 5 star rating for the experience.

Photos are a little deceptive. It looks bigger than it is BUT it has a lot of space for various age levels. Not very adapted for children with disabilities, but nonetheless fun. OLD REVIEW: 4 STARS This is a nice little park nearly behind the Partridge Inn. It's probably 1-2 acres, very nicely fenced (except the far end is open), with playground equipment, grassy fields, a few picnic tables, a decent tennis court usually available, and a little brick "Discovery" house that's occasionally open for kids on random weekends. It's in a nice Summerville neighborhood, although across from a well maintained apartment complex. The main gripe for me is that one of their main playground equipment sets has been half broken for years (slide boarded off). There is a tall slide nearby, jungle gym bars, and regular and toddler swings. A couple big trees offer shade nearby over the picnic tables.

I tried to say that's fine, we wanted to just walk around to see if there was any we wanted to look in. I applied with Heritage Housing 3 times. Two of those times, I was approved something came up and then I was denied. The last time I spoke with someone name LeAnn. She was awesome. Her and Dale made it happen🥰. Unfortunately I was not able to put the home on my property due to city limitations and had to cancel everything. I’ll give LeAnn and Dale a 10+. As to receiving my deposit back, I was given a total run away. I spoke with every number I’ve had and yet I haven’t received my refund. It’s be almost a month and nobody really knows nothing. We bought our home in April , we had grading and septic permits already completed before purchase, and we still aren’t in. This is how it looked upon set up. 6 months later it is still not tied down, plumbing, trim and fixing flooring issues are not completed. Although we were told we would be able to move in June. In July we had to take a short term (2 mos), we are still in it in our 4th month, and are having to find something else. These people have no concern for anyone not having anywhere to live. It's rich in history and as a transplant to the area, it was quite fun to see the literal translation take on a life of it's own from years and years of locals contributing to the locks and headgates.

Very nice clean place to take your family walking along the trail. There's picnic areas along the river. Right after you pass the pumping station there will be a little trail to your right. If you go down that trai be very careful because it's steep and slippery and it is really dangerous .I don't recommend you going down there but if you decide to, there's a nice place on the river. It's the rapids which is part of the fall line before the river gets deep. You could actually walk all the way across the at certain points but I do not recommend it. . You never know when the river is going to all of a sudden rise and you get stuck it happens all the time. They're also trails for to go down. Old historical trails.. Its a very great place to explore nature and fresh clean air along the river and canal

I’ve had two past life regression sessions with Melvin and both have been transformational. The first helped me to really dig in to a past life experience that was causing issues in my relationships. I was able to visit that life and find appreciation for those experiences and see it from a different perspective. The quality of picture and sound was great, I think it only buffered twice for about 2 seconds, but it did not effect the experience one bit. Melvin was very friendly and even helped me do a little research after the session to gain more clarity about what was presented. I did not feel rushed and there was no time constraint which I really appreciated. He was on time actually a few minutes early to the session and was nice enough to record the session and send me a copy. Over all if I could give more than 5 stars I would. HOW to get there? Enter at Gate 1 located on the eastern side of Ft Gordon. You may be directed to park and enter the visitor building. Present your ID, fill out some paperwork so they can do a background check. They may take a picture and fingerprint. Process is good for one year and then you are given a day pass good for one day. No fees, no cost. Total process once my turn was about 15 minutes, Total time about 20 minutes. Then you drive on same entrance road about a mile further into the base to a tower building it is on your right. Parking is mostly reserved but if you proceed looking around the parking lot, you will find unmarked spaces which are assumed to be for you and other visitors. The museum is in one part of the building and you may not see anybody; this is self found building with small museum signs so walk around like you are lost and once you enter, you are on your own to view everything. I went to signal corps school here over 52 years ago and it was amazing to see the history exhibits and learn from reading the exhibit data. Museum reveals how important communications were to all past conflicts up to around early 1970 toward end of Vietnam era. The museum does not cover since then so let your imagination run - you are on your own from 1970 forward but the history really gives you enough info to think what our capabilities could be today. Congrats on great job by all the curators and contributors so far!
