빅토리아 국립 미술관(NGV)은 멜버른에 위치한 유명한 미술관으로, 호주 및 국제 예술과 유물의 방대한 다양성을 자랑하는 컬렉션을 보유하고 있습니다. 이 미술관은 페더레이션 스퀘어에 있는 이안 포터 센터와 세인트 킬다 로드에 있는 NGV 국제관의 두 건물로 나뉘어 있습니다.
회화 작품을 즐겨 보는 사람으로서 NGV 때문에라도 이곳에서 며칠 더 살고 싶었습니다. 입장료가 없는데도 이 정도 퀄리티라니요.

개인적으로는 쿠사마 야요이 전시를 이미 많이 봐온 터라, 8,000km 이상 날아간 곳에서 또 특별전으로 쿠사마 야요이 전시를 하고 있었던 점은 아쉬웠습니다. 물론 현지인들에게는 귀한 기회였겠지만요. 그래도 전체적으로 소장 작품 수가 정말 많아 1층(G Floor)를 제외한 상위 층의 무료 전시만 보기에도 충분하다고 생각하고요. 전시장 들어갈 때 백팩은 출입이 안되어 1층에 맡기셔야 합니다. 로얄보타닉가든 옆에 붙어 있으니 세트로 보기 좋습니다. 다만, 많이 걷고 서 있어야 할 테니 단단히 각오하셔야 할 듯 ㅎㅎ
유럽 중세부터 현대까지 다양한 작품들의 전시를 무료로 관람할 수 있어 좋았습니다. 동양적인 다수의 작품들도 만날 수 있어 반가웠습니다.
생각보다 볼 것둘이 많습니다. 입장료는 무료이며 특별전들만 돈을 받습니다. 아동은 5세부터 15세까지로 구분되네요.
여러 테마가 있고 넓어 시간 보내기 좋아요.
특별 전시회 보러 갔는데 당일은 매진이더라구요. 미리 예매 후 방문 추천 드립니다.
대기 시간은 없으나 사람이 너무너무너무 많았습니다. 유명한 그림들이 많았으나 사람이 공간 대비 사람이 많아서 감상은 못하고 음~~ 이런 그림이 있구나 하면서 넘어가야했습니다! 그래도 멜번 오셨으면 한번쯤 방문 추천드립니다!
멜버른에서 가장 유명한 박물관겸 미술관입니다. 엄청 크고 많은 전시물품들이 있습니다.
아쉽게도 제가 갔을때는 전시물들을 교체하는 작업중이였어서 잘 못봤습니다.
초등 6학년 아이와 방문했어요. 다양한 민족의 전시물을 공짜로 볼 수 있어 좋았어요. 갤러리 보고 야라강 근처에서 커피나 크루즈 하면 딱인것 같아요.

뭔가 좀 멋지다라는 생각이 든다
백호사상과 인종차별의 나라로 인식하고 있었는데 배려와 존중이 있는 느낌을 받아본다
이안포터 대단한 분이시네
무료전시가 있어서 좋아요. 역이나 트램을 타고 이동할때 접근성이 좋아요.
Ngv international은 너무 커서 부담이였는데 여기는 호주 작품들 위주로 풍부하게 감상할 수 있는 곳이였어요 굿굿
그리고 작품의 정확한 위치는 기억이 나질 않지만 위층 history 구역에서 당시 swanston st 모을 담은 작품이 있었는데, 지금 swanston st 풍경이랑 너무 다른 모습이라 비교 해볼 수 있어서 신기했었어요 !
호주 작품들을 여유롭게 감상할 수 있어 좋았어요.

A beautiful contemporary art space Next to the national gallery of Victoria. This place is even free to attend! I've only found out because of the open house Melbourne. Staff here, including Anthea, Maddie and Harriet are all highly passionate and helpful. They have an exhibition change every 3 months once so with checking it out whenever people are coming to visit as well as for your own exploration. Today I saw some of the local artist's work in few different mediums.

Loved my visit. Beautifully presented gallery and spacious gallery spaces. Perfect location, around the corner from the National Gallery of Victoria, Arts Centre Melbourne and next to southbank theatre. Right in the Arts Precinct, cafes and Gardens. Being there to critique an exhibition I had questions. The staff were very helpful and happy to answer any questions making you feel welcome. Well set up and present exhibition. Got to view the exhibition, some interesting installations around music as a language. It's so so these days....It was alot more better and interesting via the 1980's and the mid 1990's...It feels kinda dead these days...The Hungry Jacks that used to be on the bottom floor is now a massive "The Reject Shop" and the "Pancake Parlour" down in the very same floor has been reduced to a little small chain then what it was in it's former grand greatness. It's okay to meh and I don't really like going there now because I don't want to tarnish my memories when it was really great!!! You'd probably be better off in the MYER Emporium to be honest...30+ years hasn't been kind to the Centrepoint Mall these days sadly.....

Went to the Team Lab exhibition. The exhibition itself was great. But there lacked cooling and ventilation in the gallery and my friends and I had to leave the room several times to get some air. Stuffy, hot and hard to breathe on a cold rainy day. It was handy having a lift. Climbing 4 flights of stairs would have been dreadful with the big crowds.

Went for the team lab exhibit and it wasn’t that great I suppose as compared to the exhibits they brought to singapore. It was only 4 exhibits without any interactive portions and it was really warm inside. Quite a hard place to find but it’s inside some building where you need to take the lift to level 4 or the stairs. Probably good to drop by if you have the time, otherwise, you won’t miss much.

It was the middle of change over not that I informed by the Google business information. If you are a tourist, not a local, or who's following their social media and website, you would never know of what's actually happening in the gallery. It did look fancy in a serious looking building, also considering the price of their artwork. I had to remove myself very immediately once I was gently kicked out from the place.

The TeamLab installation was way over hyped! Luckily we arrived early and only queued for 30 minutes. I feel super bad for those who had to wait much longer. Upon entry you are essentially greeted with 4 poster size artworks. This is a huge let down when you compare it to the Tokyo exhibition. I was really hoping to an interactive art space. We left quite disappointed.

제일 재밌는 박물관. 호주역사가 흥미롭다.
도시의 역사를 한 눈에 볼 수 있는 전시장입니다. 금괴 보관소는 이 곳 멜버른이 아니라 현재 수도인 캔버라로 옮겼다고 합니다. 그 덕에 1900년대 도시의 모습을 영상과 글로 지하1층에 잘 소개해놓아 구경할만 했습니다. 답사온 꼬마 아이들을 따라다니면 선생님이 설명해주는 숨은 이야기들도 들을 수 있어서 도움이 많이 될겁니다. 2층부터 관람객은 입장이 불가한데.. 1층과 지하를 보는 것만으로도 멜버른의 시대적 모습을 확인할 수 있어서 참 좋았습니다. 아 큰 가방메고 와도 됩니다. 알아서 입구에서 맡아줍니다. 친절한 코디네이터 할머니가 대기중이었습니다. 강추합니다

Went to Abbotsford Convent recently for a walk in the afternoon and had a fantastic time! If you enjoy art, gardens, good food and just wandering, this place ticks a lot of boxes.
The buildings are beautiful with its old convent architecture, courtyards, heritage mix. There are art studios, galleries, creative workshops going on, so there’s always something interesting to see. You don't have to participate, but you can walk along, take a peek and feel inspired by the artistry.
The grounds are big enough that it never feels too crowded. The gardens, lawns, shady trees are great for sitting with a book, having a picnic, or meeting a friend for coffee. The cafe and bakery near the entrance are solid. Good treats with nice settings.
Around the back of the property there's a nice walking path where you can see some animals like ponies and sheep, which are a favourite with the kids.
Parking can be a bit tricky, so plan a bit ahead of time. And wear comfy shoes, because there’s quite a bit of walking if you want to explore all the corners.
Overall, it’s one of my favourite inner‑Melbourne spots to relax, soak up some art, and enjoy a nice food & nature combo. Would go back easily.

This review is for the store next to the Heritage Trust.
Following on with my commitment to being “a tourist in my own town” I headed to #FederationSquare. After a few hours exploring through the labyrinth of installations, exhibitions and displays at #acmi I meandered up some stairs that popped me out at the east end of #FedSquare and into the storefront of the #kooriheritagetrust store.
The skill and talent of the artisans is not to be under estimated.
The majority of the work on display designed from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities with a strong focus on southern parts of Australia.
The well curated pieces sold support the artists and designers directly.
Grounded in a 60,000 year history it’s comforting to see this authentic work be honoured at Fed Square.
Thank you to the lovely Dayna who multitasked by sharing her knowledge of the store and weaving her own creation.
Highly recommend a visit to explore, discover, learn and appreciate our First Nations history.

Finally, after living for a while in Melbourne, I made it! Decided to go and visit KHT and its galleries, set on two different levels. There are at the moment two different temporary exhibitions about aboriginal artists, a painter and a wood “carver”.
Moreover, there are a lot of indigenous artefacts, from boomerangs to grinding stones, from shields to spears.
Interesting as always learning and experiencing First People art.

What an amazing experience! We went on the Birrarung guided walk. Our guide Jake, was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, culture and the significance of our surrounding landscape. The works felt sincere, raw, powerful, and unpretentious. There is a large portion on Indigenous women artists and women’s themes, which made the experience even more meaningful.

Lovely gallery. Can’t wait to see the next showcase! This one was of Alan Adler and his history with the photo booth. Which actually inspired me to watch Amelie and movie that had been on my watchlist for a while and was also featured in the film part of the exhibition. There was a long line for the photo booth but it was quite nice to snap a few picture.

It is an iconic venue for all the right reasons. The downstairs theatre has hosted some incredible shows - plays, musicals, performance art, cabaret and more. The space is unique and always used in surprising new ways. The staff are excellent and go above and beyond - they are a delight - well trained and knowledgeable. It is also a beautiful multifunctional gallery space. Surrounded by the best food in Melbourne this is a must-go venue. They had lots of toilets and some refreshments available for purchase.

The Dax centre is an entirely unique place where mental health awareness and creativity are displayed and celebrated. Artworks from people with lived experience of mental health distress are curated and presenting in thoughtful ways to educate and inspire viewers. Most importantly there is a wonderful education program that gives tertiary and high school students a tour of the gallery and then the opportunity to listen to a lived experience advocate speak about their journey with mental health struggles and their path to recovery. I wish I had access to this when I was in high school! It is such a vital tool to break down stigma and put a human face to some of these unfortunately-still-taboo issues. We are lucky to have a centre like this in Melbourne.

Say you are bored on a friday night, you suddenly stumble down some stairs on Lonsdale street. Suddenly you are sucked down a rabbit hole of mystery and puzzles trying to escape bizarre rooms where the awesome staff have trapped you in. Despite trapping you in this place the staff are so nice, big shout out to Harriet who was honestly effortlessly cool and a great game operator! The puzzles were challenging but not frustrating with a range of experiences so your imprisonment doesn’t feel so bad. They do also give you stockholm syndrome by serving a variety of enticing drinks. The clues came quickly and decent pricing!

We came 20 minutes early like advised on the email but they don't open until 10am so if you've booked the early session don't make the mistake we did. Luckily they let us in a little early so we weren't left in the rain. When you first come in and wait for your room there's a bunch of card games that you can play in a cool little dimmly lit bar area. We ended up playing games afterwards which was fun and I even tried one of the mocktails because it was before midday. Very cute establishment in and out of the themed rooms. Also we won the escape room with a little bit of help so that's also a win. Been here twice now and would love to try another escape room in future!

We booked the Alice in Wonderland room for a birthday activity and were really looking forward to it. We arrived 1–2 minutes late and fully acknowledge that but the real issue was the lack of communication once we got there. No one told us the timer had already started, so we used the restroom and filled out the waiver with zero urgency. Had staff said anything, we would’ve gone straight in.
Because of this, they started our timer at 37 minutes, instead of the expected 50 minutes. We rushed through the experience, and ended just one clue from finishing. When we raised this with the venue manager, Rory, he took no responsibility for the lack of communication and refused any resolution.
A disappointing experience, especially for a special occasion.

A very memorable experience! The MPavilion 10 is designed by Tadao Ando. His thought process is very much reflected in this simple, soothing and modern mass. The linear slit from the inside feels like a window with moving images. The water reflection on the roof brings a different play of light and creates a different kind of ambience. I went for the What is VR activity that's part of the Melbourne International Film Festival, the staff were so incredibly helpful and friendly, going above and beyond to make sure I got into the different VR sessions by personally escorting me and making arrangements with the various ushers.

A brilliant arts organisation, they look after their artists including those who are Deaf or with disabilities. They are very Deaf friendly and make sure we all have access. A wonderful team of very friendly and dedicated people that set up incredible exhibitions, and have great tech staff who set up the exhibitions professionally including projectors and hanging works. I have been following Backwards Gallery for a couple of years due to an ROA exhibition I noticed online, however I only made the trip to Melbourne and the gallery for the first time last week.
I was greeted warmly by Emerson at the desk and was blown away by the two shows they were exhibiting and just the high level of curation and friendliness by the team. I had a great chat about art with Emerson and I love that physical brick and mortar galleries like this still exist in an age where so much is just online. Receptionist was very rude towards us and spoke condescendingly towards me and some other patrons and then proceeded to close the gallery 2 hours before the listed closing time to prevent more patrons from entering. They did not give a reason to us as to why they decided to close the free public exhibit nor did staff attempt to communicate verbally to a line of patrons waiting outside the venue that they could’ve been potentially at capacity, etc. We were rudely told to read off an A4 paper in small font regarding the gallery being ‘temporarily closed’.

Just entering the Nicholas Building is magical then take the retro fitted lift up the centre of the building to be greeted by dejavu like confusion of which way to go... I didn’t need to direct these clever people because their creative minds in this area are impeccable.
With an entrance wall and a staircase as the destination of the 5 paintings, they turned something that I thought was going to be quite tricky into sweet simplicity.
Very impressive and the commissioners love the fact that the 5 are all visible from their living room, even the one on the top of the stairs.

We dropped off a drawing in Dec to be mounted onto core stock and were notified that it would be done by the end of Jan/first week of Feb due to there being a wait list and the Christmas holidays. I eventually decided to phone up in March to check on progress and was told that it hadn’t been started yet but would be completed in a week. I called a second time just over a week later and it still hadn’t been started. When it was finally completed and delivered I immediately noticed that the drawing had not been adequately adhered to the core stock along two of the edges and the border bowed in these areas noticeably. The paper also does not sit flat on the core stock.
Overall I haven’t been impressed with the service and don’t feel confident in using C&B again, especially after they never responded to us to resolve our complaint.

Visited St Heliers Street Gallery to explore an artist's exhibition and was captivated by the ambiance of the gallery, as well as the environs that surrounded it. After observing the artworks, it was delightful to take a leisurely stroll around the edifices and gardens nearby.
