If you just want the falls, I recommend hiking to the falls and turning back. If you want a bigger workout, and longer hike, then do the loop. It had some sensory things as well – informational signs encouraging touching and smelling fallen trees and their rings, their exposed roots, etc. It was really beautiful and I’m very glad they created this trail.
