We had a fabulous time out on the Spirit of Harvey Bay. The crew were fantastic, checking to see if everyone was ok as there were a few times when it got a little choppy. As for the whales they put on a spectacular show not to disappoint. Hats off to the crew of on the Spirit of Harvey Bay you do an excellent job. Highly recommended.

Amazing day on the water with a great skipper and friendly staff. The skipper was highly knowledgeable and friendly and he knew exactly what he was doing. He went above and beyond to find active whales rather than just sitting on the first pod he found!

Great place to stop and cool off. Parking can be tricky if it’s busy.
The main splash park is free but you can pay a low cost for the other slides and timed ninja park. These are paid for for a certain number of turns.
Lots of tables and chairs available, some shaded. Lockers available near the toilets - BYO padlock or get one from the kiosk.
Showers also in the cubicle blocks.
2 cafes right next to the park so easy to get food & beverages and then take them to eat. The kids had a blast.

Seriously, they need to limit the number of people at the water park during school breaks. We got there right when it opened at 10, and it was fine for like ten minutes, but by 10:30, it was total chaos. It's an accident just waiting to happen. One of the most amazing free water parks in Queensland. Areas for big or little kids. My son loves Wetside and that's our favourite place to visit when we come up to Hervey bay. Now with the playground and skate park next to it we love it even more.

My family had a fantastic experience at Reef World Aquarium 🤩 certainly the highlight is of course the resident green sea turtles that you can pat and feed. But there's many other fantastical underwater creatures to explore including a touch tank with starfish.

The tanks here are absolutely awesome — crystal clear and full of beautiful marine life. You can get really close to everything, and the variety is impressive for a small local aquarium.

We visited here 2 days ago. We bought our 5 yr old grandaughter as well. She loved feeding the turtles and patting them so did I being a turtle lover. The feeding times were great watching them take a lettuce leaf from your hand. 🐢🥬 we strolled around to see other aquaium fish after feeding the turtles. We also had lunch next door in the restaurant. The staff were informative and knew their business.

My husband and I (in our 60's) thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Reef World. Very friendly service and any questions were answered. For a family owned business since 1979, it's a treasure. So interesting to see the tropical fish, corals in a naturaly lit &l sea water environment. Lovely presentation, quality not quantity! Maddie did a great feeding turtle presentation outside. Good value and includes all day return entry. Coffee & scones were delicious in cafe too! A very family friendly attraction.

Nice spot to wander around and fill in 45 minutes. Chinese garden is quite a nice feature however would be good if the water feature was actually full. The lake with the turtles probably needs cleaning out and a few turtles removed, could also do with a few more plant identification placards around the place. Good spot to let little kids run around and burn off some energy. But would I go again probably not, would I recommend. Im 50/50 going by the comments some people really enjoy it.

The museum is an interesting place to visit with many local rescued buildings such as the church and vestry, slab homestead, railway station and smithy.
The development and history of Hervey Bay and the surrounding area is well documented and there is lots to see.
Of particular note are all the vehicles which are well maintained and obviously loved.
Admission prices are reasonable and drinks are available on site. Allow about an hour for a visit. Unfortunately there are no specific interactive activities for children.

This place completely exceeded my expectations — it’s huge! The museum holds an incredible collection covering all eras, from everyday tools to beautifully preserved machinery and artefacts. The recreated village sections are simply mind-blowing — walking through the old buildings and especially reaching the real working shed at the end feels like stepping back in time.
The hosts and volunteers are amazing — friendly, passionate, and full of knowledge. They make history come alive with real demonstrations (they even teach you how to bone-knead, and everyone can have a go!).
A visit here is truly a journey through time — you could easily spend hours exploring and still discover something new. One of the best historical museums I’ve ever been to. Highly recommended!

An iconic whale statue to visit. We had come the only day the gallery was closed (Monday so you know), though this didn't hinder our visit that much. Everything was made up for in a luscious green park that extends as its front yard. Had no idea that it existed until we arrived. The locals seem to enjoy the park very much, walking their families and their four legged friends. Reccomend taking a stroll. It's a pleasant place to be and parking is great.

This place was very underwhelming. Two large spaces exhibiting idigeonous arts and crafts which were worth the visit. The problem was the empty space took away some of the impact. The staff were friendly. Space could of been used better in my be opinion.

I know many people who have gone whale-watching, but somehow had managed to never make it myself. That was until our family planned a trip to Hervey Bay. My wife had heard lots of good things about Freedom Ecotours so she decided that we would give them a go. This was an excellent choice for everyone.
Check-in was simple with an arrival 20 minutes before departure and a sir name check. Once on the boat, there was a brief mustering for the safety check and a few jokes to get the show rolling. The wind forecast for our trip was windy, which made for a rocky trip out and especially back in, but we did our best to roll with the punches.
This being a whale tour of sorts, you must be wondering did we see any? YES! We saw heaps! There was breaching, and belly rolls. Dives, and much more. The boats need to stay about 100 yards away from the animals, but we were treated to some swimming very near our boat. Speaking of which, there boat has three viewing tiers in the front of the boat. This is prime seating major most of the tour. There were also three toilets on our boat. I didn't get a chance to see these.
Our package included morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. The spreads were filling (but not overly). The food provided felt like just the right amount to keep us from getting too sleepy and maintain our interests in seeing more whales.
Taking photographs of video of them can be a bit tricky, since you don't know when or what they are going to do. It may be best to keep your phone at the ready and focus on your screen once whales have been spotted in a particular area. This way, you'll be able to quickly snap an image should something notable take place.
Everyone had a great time. I'll definitely be recommending Freedom to my friends.

A fantastic day on the water. The skipper was brilliant and clearly loved her job. All of the crew were great. The food was good and plentiful. The long format tour and limited passenger numbers made for a relaxed and enjoyable cruise.

Had an absolutely amazing day today with freedom whale tours. I had high expectations after seeing their website, and boy did they deliver. We got way more than we ever thought and were absolutely flawed at how good this day turned out. Mark the skipper knows where to go and how to do it to give you the best whale experience possible. We originally booked for weekend cruise but due to weather conditions they rebooked us for a couple of days later. Best decision the weather today was 10/10, cruises 10/10, fun 10/10 and food 10/10.

Kayak, paddle boards, tubing, beach games, beach walks, jumping into the blue waters off the boat. So many activities to fit into 2 hours wish we could have stayed out longer.
Morning tea provided with cakes, fruit and Milo 😊 as well as a wonderful BBQ lunch. Crew were so friendly, caring and went above and beyond today.

Whalesongs staff were friendly and professional. We decided to travel 2 hours to get to them and it was worth it. We chose the 5 hour trip that included lunch. We got to see about 6 whales and it was magical. They were so close I could have reached out and touched them. I'd recommend going to the afternoon slot if you think it will coincide with the sunset. BEAUTIFUL! The boat was stocked with lots of snacks and drinks. Lunch was filling and included chicken, salad, potato salad, ham and bread. The crew were fun and knowledgeable. Boat was perfect size. So much room to move around over the 4 hours.
The captain was accommodating and happily answered questions over the 4 hours while finding around 8-10 whales for us to view.

We had the most insane day with TV on their full day whale watching and K’Gari tour. Our captain was Angus and he and his crew were exceptional. We had our 3yo and 1yo with us and the crew were so accomodating, making sure we and they were looked after at all times..and even getting in the water with my 3yo to spot whales. Fantastic value for money for what you got- including 3 meals, wetsuits and snorkels, tubing behind the boat, kayaking down freshwater rivers as well as the whales and beaches! An absolutely fabulous day with a very professional company and committed & enthusiastic staff.
Corelena and the team enabled us to see so many whales up close - far more than we had envisaged. We experienced jumps, slapping and the courting chasing. All of the aspects were explained & Corelena made us aware of lots of facts throughout the day.
Despite seeing so many whales we still had time for snorkelling, tubing and a paddle up a creek in a kayak. A very full day, which was orchestrated perfectly by the team.
The food was fantastic too. Thankyou - it’s something we’ll always remember!

What a fantastic experience! The crew are so organised and look after everything. They fit so much in for you so you get to have a go at every activity as well, without feeling rushed. I really enjoyed the day and its the ideal size boat and number of people. When we stopped at awinya creek the staff were very respectful of the campers - we anchored up and kept to the end of the camp zone. Highly reccomend!!! Our group recently took the Tasman Venture Remote K'gari Experience, and it was truly a fantastic day. From the moment we stepped aboard, the crew was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Their service was absolutely impeccable—they were attentive and made sure everyone was comfortable throughout the trip.
The captain was exceptional. It was clear he was very experienced, as he expertly navigated us to an area where we were able to get an incredibly close view of the humpback whales. The excitement on the boat was contagious; you could hear the cheers from all the passengers every time a whale surfaced. It was a completely new and amazing experience for everyone.
The crew was also very patient and helpful during the kayaking and snorkeling activities. They took special care of our friends who weren't confident swimmers, which was really reassuring and made everyone feel safe.
Several friends in our group had previously been on other whale watching tours, and they all agreed that this was the best whale watching experience they had ever had. We couldn't recommend Tasman Venture highly enough!

Simply perfect! I’ve had just one day in Hervey Bay and were choosing between a land tour and whale watching experience. And I did not regret even for a second for choosing the full day remote K’gari tour. The team was super friendly and I felt very comfortable even as a solo traveler. A must do in Hervey Bay. When researching what whale trip we wanted to do, this was the only one that offered K’gari tour.
We had a fantastic trip, the whales followed us for hours, we saw two dingoes on the island and swam with the whales.
The crew was very knowledgeable, the boat was comfortable, the activities were fun and lunch was fantastic.
Overall it was the highlight of our vacation. We will come again next time we are in Hervey Bay and are recommending it to all of our friends!

Dog friendly. Cabins are clean and spacious- the bathroom is a lot more outdated than the cabin but that was not a bother to us. It was raining so we did not access the pool area. Well equipped big outdoor kitchen area with a lot of seating and Smart TV. It has an air fryer, pans, pots, cutlery and utensils- 2 big industrial fridges if needed also. Staff was lovely we did late check in however my in laws got a dog goodie bag upon check in which was lovely. Easy check in and check out process. Would recommend.

This was a great place for a morning out with the family. Staff were very friendly and the grounds were immaculate. Pricing is fair and there is plenty of parking available. The course is only one block from the beach as well, so it's really easy to create a great morning at the beach with the family. Definitely recommend!

We went on the twilight tour and whilst it was cloudy and rainy with no sight of the sun it was still a great trip and very relaxing. There was only 10 of us onboard but the crew were fantastic and very friendly. Would recommend it if you just want too have a couple of hours chilling out.

Had an amazing morning out with the crew whale watching. So many pods of whales! We were "hugged" by a few whales who went on to give us a show... slapping tails, rolling over and flapping fins. I spent an entire day on the Amaroo. Captain Phil was sensational. Incredibly aware of people on the boats needs and has an eagle eye to find the whales. Crew were fantastic and friendly with great knowledge of the whales and surrounding areas. Plenty of whales to see and gorgeous scenery during travelling time to and from Playpus bay.
The water was choppy due to high winds but the boat was comfortable and the highly trained captain Phil knew which way to point the boat to avoid discomfort. I enjoyed my first trip so much I went another 2 times.
Prices were fair and whales were super close.

Beautiful evening. Brought our chairs, hot chook and salads and easily parked at a great spot to set up and relax for a glorious sunset. Other people around with similar plans but plenty of room to feel secluded. Wonderful way to chill into the evening. A few midges around but nothing that a bit of repellent can’t manage.

A nice spot for a small walk around sunset with your dog, and a great place to go looking for crabs amongst the rocks. Dogs are required to be on leash, although most people let their dog off leash around this area. There’s a boat ramp and picnic area near the car park too.

Travelling across the World to visit Australia would not be complete without getting out and experiencing the best it has to offer. A tour with the team was perfect from the moment we edged out of port until we arrived in Platypus Bay. I know the whales 🐋 are unpredictable but I was party to an amazing show of breaches, flipper slapping, tails and then a very special close up as the mother nudged her calf towards our stationary boat. The hydrophone was a great touch to be able to hear whale song and the entire trip was expertly run making everyone feel safe while giving everybody the experience they were looking for. Highly recommend this excellent tour operator who have been instrumental in making my holiday one to treasure.

We had the best afternoon on Whale watch cruise on Wednesday, 3rd Sept. We met Narla and her 15th baby calf and she bought it over to the boat for a glance it was fantastic to meet her and her calf and the other escorting whales she had. And then we had this 3yo whale who had breeched in the distance and then popped up beside the boat she entertained us for nearly an hour just going under and popping up on each side of the boat it was amazing.

Wow! What an amazing few hours spent on board this very comfortable but compact boat. The size of this craft makes the experience more intimate, with a crew of 3 and only 38 passengers.
Almost from the get-go, we saw whales and stopped to view these mother and calf pods. The crew were keen to find some whales that were more active at the surface and pushed onwards. Boy, did they deliver! We literally didn't know where to look, as there was activity all around us. A truly breathtaking experience.
Special mentions must go to Isabel, our naturalist, and Allan, skipper. Both are very knowledgeable and seem to really enjoy their work (who wouldn't).

See the pictures. We chose this because it is a nonprofit research enterprise. Once out on the water we realised we were able to reach the whales fast and comfortably. The boat being such that you appeared level with these magnificent creatures. I took so many pictures and videos. The whale came up to the boat and seemed inquisitive gliding around. The boat captain Andrew made the most of the trip and Elli gave us a commentary once we reached the area where we saw three of four different groups. The lady in the shop was helpful and gave us all the advice we needed to prepare.

I can’t explain to you how magical yesterday afternoon was. We were originally booked on 7am but got rescheduled to 2:30pm due to weather. Due to this there were only 12 of us on the boat! Everyone had brilliant views. For the first hour we didn’t see anything. Then approached two boats and there they were a pod of three! The two other boats eventually left so all three humpbacks came and said hello to us. We then moved on and found another friendly pod that came right up to the boat in front of me! All we did was stop and they swam to us. Isabelle gave brilliant commentary throughout we really enjoyed the whole thing. We also got to watch sunset from the boat. We were buzzing after this. This is our 3rd whale watching cruise. Port Macquarie was good, Ballina was better, this one was great. Small boat with a great crew. Skipper was professional. Marine biologist was knowledgeable, thorough and fun. We learnt a lot. And more importantly we saw lots of whales and they were all playing around a lot. It was truly amazing. We had such a wonderful time on Sumo! The boat was very well set up and very spacious for our group of 6. Having chartered in different places around Australia and New Zealand, Fraser felt like a sailing playground not crowded at all, easy anchorages along the coast and no reefs to worry about. The team at Sweet Escape was fantastic, accomodating all our requests from day one. Rohan gave us many tips on fishing and spearfishing spots, thank you again!! We were able to see dingos on the beach and we heard them howling from the boat at sunset, such an amazing experience. Sunsets in Fraser were something we will never forget. An absolutely excellent week exploring The Great Sandy Straight and Fraser Island on an amazing boat. Everything from booking, through to briefing and return was easy and very well handled. The owners are passionate about their business and this really shows through. We had a group of 6 adults and 4 children and everyone fitted comfortably in the boat and in individual rooms. The yacht sailed perfectly and was very well fitted out. Value for money I would put this trip up against chartering in the Whitsundays any day of the week and the experiences we had were nothing short of amazing and memorable 🙂. What a great trip! A last minute impulse decision to book did not disappoint. Keira and Rohan were amazing, it really felt like they bent over backwards for us.
The weather forecast wasn't the best, but it turned out to be steady SE breezes during the day with the occasional shower at night. When the sun was out, it was t-shirts and shorts, at the start of July!
A great location and so easy to get to, compared to the dramas of flights to the Whitsundays and then having to provision with taxis etc.
Seven were on the boat. Fresh water, power and space were never an issue.

This honestly was one of the best weekends of my life.
We were blessed with amazing weather for sure, but I was really impressed with the boat and facilities. Super comfy stay for 8 couples, each with own double bed, shower and bathroom facilities. We enjoyed a range of activities from fishing, snorkelling, sailing, sand dune running and exploring Frazer Island. In the evenings we ate well and enjoyed some downtime with a glass of wine in the hammock and relaxing in the netting over the water. Love that the cinema has never been packed out when I go to see a movie. It's a bugger that the toilets are so far away, you either have to go back downstairs or do along through a hallway type of area and finally they are there! We charteted Aquila Sunrise, the 44' Power Cat for 4 nights at the end of May 2024.
She was an amazing vessel with an abundance of space, 3 excellent entertaining spaces (1 on the back deck, 1 inside & the 3rd being perfectly laid out & sheltered seating area on the fly bridge), a great galley & loads of head room. The 3 ensuited cabins were ideal for the 3 couples we had on board, they were spacious & well appointed - our guests were amazed that they each had their own ensuite!
Scott, Tayla, Mal & Dan were a pleasure to deal with right from from initial enquiry via Tayla, the online booking process, Mal's boat briefing, Dan's cherry/cheaky assistance to Scott's overall guidance & communication throughout the entire charter.
I will definitely be using Fraser Island Boat Charter's again & would highly recommend them to anyone considering bareboat chartering as a way of exploring Fraser Island.
I also recommend you have experience with captaining larger boats & a reasonable knowledge of navigation marks/signals as Hervey Bay has many sand bars, channel's & banks that will catch you out if you're not careful. Scott & his team have added great waypoints on the chart plotter which is a huge help.

Hervey Bay is the best destination for memorable close encounters with humpback whales, as they rest before heading back south to their feeding grounds. This whale sanctuary is a very special place on Earth, on our side of the world :)
Joining the charter gives you a unique advantage, as you are not bound to a set schedule and can spend more time with whales. Additionally, having a smaller group capacity results in a higher-quality experience, and having an experienced, friendly skipper and being catered for allows you to relax and fully enjoy this paradise. We had a wonderful 4 night stay on the Indigo catamaran with our 2 children (8 and 3!) we had never done anything like this before! The boat was very well laid out with everything we could need- very comfortable for the 4 of us. Scott and Mal were so comforting and reassuring for us novices and literally on call for our entire stay to help us problem solve and few rookie errors! We’d definitely recommend hiring through these guys! Highlights included beautiful sunsets every day, dingo footprint spotting on K’gari and the lighthouse walk on big woody island. Memories to last a lifetime and some good boating tales to tell the mates back home ;)

We absolutely loved our stay K’gari Breeze. Scott made everything easy. My husband and I were looking for a few to days to relax and think of nothing and we definitely got that. We were catered from breakfast to dinner with delicious meals, including fresh blue swimmer crabs - caught on our trip. Scott knew all the places to see amazing wildlife. So much so that we seen turtles, dolphins and even a dingo. Would definitely recommend Frazer Island boat charters. We will be back! Thanks again.

First time I took the family on a self-skippered charter for 3 nights. Indigo is a nice boat and perfectly suited for a family of 4 or 5. The boat was clean, well equipped and provided enough space for everyone (although the engine power was a bit at the lower end). Thanks to the solar panels and wind generator the batteries were always sufficiently loaded (no need to run the engines in the evening to re-charge the batteries). Scott was always friendly and showed us all that we needed to know about the boat so that we felt comfortable sailing on our own (I was the only one in our party with previous experience). He also offered us some flexibility with our charter dates and times that allowed us to maximise our sailing time.
Everyone had a great time and we are already looking forward to try and do another sail in the future with more time to explore all the great spots along Fraser Island.

An die Küche grenzt eine Gemeinschaftslounge, wo man fernsehen und mit anderen Gästen in Kontakt kommen kann. Draußen gibt es einen großen Pool und man kann sich E-Bikes ausleihen, um die Stadt zu erkunden. Dafür hat unsere Zeit aber leider nicht ausgereicht. Parkplätze stehen direkt auf dem Gelände der Villa Cavour zur Verfügung.

If you are looking for a sneaky weekend getaway to Hervey Bay or a longer relaxing stay then we highly recommend Villa Cavour. The bed and breakfast host Dean is an absolute gentleman and made us feel very welcome and comfortable during our stay. Dean’s local knowledge eateries, places and sites to see is fantastic and to top it off he provided us with options to consider for whale watching cruises and the one we chose was amazing! The bed and breakfast accomodation is wonderful, clean, and functional. With super comfortable beds lovely bay breezes we were in total chill mode. We met some other lovely guests during our stay which made it even more special. Thanks Delano, we will be back!!

My husband, teenage daughter and myself stayed 2 nights at Villa Cavour. It was the most relaxing and comfortable accommodation. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. They even supplied us with toothpaste when we forgot to bring our own. They have great local knowledge of recommendations of activities and places to eat. They were genuinely understanding when my daughter accidentally damaged their bike. The breakfast was delicious yoghurt, fresh fruits, cereals, toast and a huge assortment of coffees and teas. The communal areas are warm and welcoming and I felt as comfortable as i would at home. Dean and Tania are extremely friendly people and I highly recommend anyone to stay at Villa Cavour.

We had a very relaxing stay at Villa Cavour. The bedrooms and large with comfortable beds and a balcony looking out over the pool area is a great place to sit. The kitchen, dining, living area is a great area to spend time together. We enjoyed using the pizza oven for wood fired pizzas. My friend and I stayed at Villa Cavour for 3 nights and it was a lovely stay. The house is well designed, spacious and practical. The communal kitchen is extremely well equipped which made cooking meals a breeze. The view on the top floor is delightful and the ocean breeze makes the air-conditioning in the room almost unnecessary even in the hot Queensland summer.
Also the ocean and walking paths are less than a 1min walk away which is so convenient.
It is set in the peaceful suburb of Vernon Point, away from the hustle and bustle but only 10mins or so from all the conveniences of shops and hospital.
Dean is a fantastic host making you feel welcome from the very start, I recommend Villa Cavour for a relaxing and rejuvenating stay.

I ran my first 4 day retreat and could not ask for a better venue. Great venue for a retreat with small group and also a perfect place for family to stay.
Make sure you talk to Dean to learn about the local outings/ tours.
Close to the beach, we enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunsets, taking daily walks to the beach. The pool and the setting around is a nice place to unwind.
The hosts Dean and Tania were amazing, welcoming, and they made sure all amenities were available for all the guests. The ladies who participated in the retreat enjoyed their stay. I look forward to staying at Villa Cavour again. Tania and Dean are the new owners, they don't have any pets, the entire villa is clean, beautiful, the pool is great. My family stayed enjoyed the stay as well. All in all a beautiful place run by amazing human beings.

Dean is an amazing host always good for a chat and happy to try and assist in any way he can to make your stay more enjoyable.
This is just outside of the main esplanade strip and east to get too and from town with a car or uber, though ubers late at night can get costly, and they have some e-bikes you can use to duck down to the shops or cruise along the esplenade.
This place has an amazing little balcony setting for the rooms where you can open the door and let the breeze in to relax.

Was great, the indoor lap pool was nice and cool and well shaded. And as you would expect in January the outside pool and kids wading area were very warm.
Biggest fault with this place is to me is that we used to bring out kids here when there was slides and a awesome kids setup.
It is hard to find a patch of water with shade when lap swimming is happening also.
Very clean, lots of staff and were all very friendly 👍 . Good value for money.

The climbing frame was really quite tall, and there's a height recommendation for kids who want to climb this and go down one of the tree large slides. Great playground. This area is well lit even when it gets dark. Not sure why kids would want to still play here after it gets dark though.
The equipment is probably better suited for bigger kids given the heights involved. Otherwise even bigger kids (adults) may have to accompany some of the younger kids up.
The ground is nice and soft in case you can't make it all the way up. But the safer option would be to climb back down again.
