We had a great experience here after having not been in roughly a decade. All of the dishes were delicious. Our server, Wendy, was kind and knowledgeable of the menu. Food came out in a very timely manner. We’ll gladly return!
As many of the other recent reviews have noted, the busboy is very anxious to help and will refill your water before you even knew you needed it replenished. We found his eagerness to help rather endearing. 🤍

This was truly an amazing experience. Our server/bartender Nicholas was everything you could ask for in a server. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be served by. The food was on another level. It was flavorful, well seasoned, and came out hot. The drinks were well balanced and tasted great. We will definitely be back again.

What a nice restaurant. I love this restaurant it’s the best Turkish restaurant in the area . I visited other Turkish restaurants but this one has the best taste and the perfect stuff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Kiddos had the lamb chops dish and they loved it, my favorite was the eggplant and I really recommend you to try their cold appetizer.

Something that costs you barely a dollar to make was really disappointing... I was actually trying to show how kind and hospitable restaurants can be, but this completely changed the vibe!

The food was excellent!!! I was able to taste the flavors of the dish distinctly which was an unexpected delight! I had never had pomegranate in a rice dish and the addition of pomegranate gave a refreshing touch to the dish.
Service was good. The staff made sure that we had what we needed and didn't leave us too long without checking in. Our server was also able to help recommend dishes if there were allergy concerns. The wait was about 20minutes on a Sunday at noon, but their system sent a notification via text and my party was able to take a walk to pass the time since there was little space to wait inside.
The dining area was split into two locations which did make it feel a little crowded. Also, expect the conversation to get loud because the ceiling was high and there wasn't much for dampening. It is an old building, and they tend to reverberate sounds efficiently.

Delcious. We loved the food. The Mediterranean sampler platter was so fresh and perfect flavors and textures. We wish we had gotten it for 4, so we had leftovers for the 2 of us. Afgani buryiani, mango lassi and chai tea were also delcious. Felt like a family run place with authentic food. The food came out really fast. I would highly recommend eating here. I do wish the inside had more Afgani decor or music playing, but was a really nice quiet spot.

The restaurant is located near downtown area, so parking around it could be tricky. However, we found a street parking luckily. The ambiance of the restaurant can definitely use an upgrade. Pretty old-aged set up and the restroom on the face of the dining table doesn’t help honestly. The service was pretty slow. However, we went there pretty late, almost towards the closing time and it was still somewhat busy. So can’t really complain about that. But the food was not up to the hype that the google review had led us to believe. The butter chicken platter was pretty simple. The chicken wasn’t much flavorful rather bland. But the SLU special was good for the money. Kabuli pulav was flavorful, also the SLU chicken (that tasted more like butter chicken than the butter chicken platter itself!). Food price and portion was reasonable.

Me and my Wife went to Olympia and had a good experience. Service and food both very good. The inside seating part is kinda chilly inside so bring a jacket. My wife had the Deluxe Lamb kabob plate. The rice and lamb were both amazing. Lamb was very tender and cooked perfect medium.
I had the Deluxe Gyro plate. The meat had great flavor but could has used a little more meat in comparison to the portion of lettuce and cheese you get. I got the tomato and onion on the side.
We both enjoyed the Spinach dip as well as the tzatziki sauce as apps. The fresh pita was very soft and warm.
All in all, it is a great restaurant to definitely try out.

First time here and was not disappointed!! Had the lamb chops which were perfect, pure grilled taste. Wife had the dolmades and chicken kabobs. Decent place! Was a bit pricey in my opinion but that's just the world today. Food was good, nothing out of this world, but I didn't order a simple burger. Pictured is the Feta burger. Calamari was also good! Would reccomend their dill sauce. Atmosphere was very nice, albeit a bit loud for me. The best was the staff- food and stafg were so quick and efficient. You can tell they know how to do their job, and do it well! Was probably my favorite part of the dinner.

A friend and I stopped in for a nice days hookah session. We were greeted and seeted quickly but had to wait for over 45 minutes to get served. All we ordered was a hookah with the ice hose. By the time the server brought the hookah out the coals were already dusted and I noticed she had her own tip in the hose. While it is customary to start the smoke, it cashed on us quickly and we sat and waited for far too long as she served 2 groups of her friends. The total on the bill came to $60. We ordered multiple appetizers. The hummus is really good . The pita used to dip into it is also amazing. Chicken wings were good and even better when dipped in the lemon garlic sauce. Falafel is whatever to me . Not bad but not great either .
I had the beef shawarmaa . Really good flavor on everything including the rice.

This is a great little restaurant situated on a lovely street. They have indoor and patio dining, as well as a small hookah lounge in the back. There isn't any particularly special decor, but it's well laid out and inviting.
The staff were young but kind. It's run by a Syrian family, so you get a Middle Eastern style service. Compared to many places, it's a pretty good blend of good customer service with an edge of that blunt, practical interaction.
To my dismay, I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures food! We had the flat bread both with cheese and zatar. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. We also had hummus and baba ganoush, both of which were spot on with authentic flavors. Nice and flavorful mixes. We also had some fried potatoes that were exceptional with a strong spicy kick - wonderful!
Our main reason to visit was hookah. We had a party of 4, so when we saw the small hookah lounge we passed and headed for the patio. Seating was nice and since it was later in the afternoon, we soon had building shade. They have umbrellas, so those helped at the start.
All sheesha is Al Fahker, and they use coconut coals. Hookahs are mostly Maamoon with a few of another brand. The bowl was packed well, but after that, it was rough. We received the coals half lit, so I went and ask asked for tongs so I could get them fully lit. We also never were checked on for coals, so I was minding them and asked for a second batch to be lit. They just brought coals and did not have an oven and tray for tending bowls. This was okay, but it did cause us some burn moments that hurt the overall flavor. I chalk this up to a day with teen/college age kids running the place, and they didn't know how to properly handle a hookah.
Despite this, I have to go 5 stars. It was well worth the visit. Food was excellent, staff were nice, the space was inviting, and the hookah was fine, just a bit of a tough day with the coals. Give it a go, you'll have a great trip!

Dined here with a group of 6 on a Friday night about 6:30pm in mid-July 2025. My sister recommended the spot and it absolutely hit the spot. The wait time was longer than expected (which was almost problematic because we went there before seeing a show at The Muny), but everything turned out well.
I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich and was surprised by and delighted with the inclusion of pickles, it was so tasty! The fries were so savory as well, I'm guessing fried in peanut oil. The serving size of the fries was much larger than expected and could easily be shared between 2 people. Our group ordered the stuffed grape leaves and several people in our party took a piece of baklava for the road, it was extra nutty and absolutely delicious.
There was plenty of seating and the space was clean.

We recently came in for the first time in quite a while, as we no longer live in the neighborhood, and we were so pleasantly surprised with the interior remodel! The dine-in was much improved from recent years, much more like what it used to be when I first moved to town over 12 years ago. The staff was so kind and friendly. Our 1 year old can sometimes be a little rowdy, but the staff were so friendly to her, and even brought her over a free bite-size pastry for her while we waited for our food. Portions were huge, quality was top notch. Delicious. The quality here had taken an understandable hit in the pandemic and years immediately after, but I was SO glad to see The Vine thriving again—both in experience and food! We will be back!

The cashier was also providing waiter service & (from what i could tell) helping cook. The food came out super hot & fresh & the fries are soo good. I ordered a pineapple mint smoothie, they were out of mint, so he sent someone across the street to go get some! He came back within 3-5 minutes with a dessert to apologize that it wasn’t going to be ready yet & even offered to make me a different drink. The food here was incredible! Authentic Turkish dishes and incredible hummus. The manager or owner greeted us as soon as we walked in, and you could instantly feel his kind Turkish hospitality. The decor and atmosphere of this place is just beautiful with pieces from all over Turkey! The service, however, was very poor. Our server did not seem to care about her tables. At one point, both servers were sitting down at another table eating food, which felt incredibly unprofessional. Additionally, she gave the other table our dish and then when she realized she’d mixed them up, didn’t apologize or say anything about it until we asked where our food was. Another table she was serving had to ask her how they should order food because she took so long to greet them. Honestly it really made this experience disappointing because I’ve experienced Turkish culture and hospitality growing up there, and this was just not it. I have four stars because I want to support the manager/owner (who was very very kind) but I hope they are able to get servers who at the very least, can pretend to care about their job.

We calledat 5 pm, for reservations for 25 at 7:30 on Monday. Who ever answered and said ok. We reach at 7:30 and get seated. The young girl who was by her self attending 2 others tabels came over to us and said I am sorry we dont have other staff and I will be Abel to do what ever I can. The owner just walked by and did not say a word. Now we placed an order which the girl was overwhelmed with not knowing how she was going to handle. We had over 5 orders of lamb chops, and many other things with appetizers etc etc. After serving soup and appetizers which was not in order I picked up all my used dishes and put it on the counter. The order of lamb chops she comes back and say we can only serve 2 cuz we did not prepare it. So now all had to substitute to different choice. Half eating,half waiting for the food and rest are finishing the food. No coordination. Not one time the owner came and apologized and said the management was sorry for the inconvenience we went through. The bill was over $800. Now I could not resist to not call the owner from the back and confront him if this pathetic service. I told him u are a coward hiding in the back and have a young girl as escape goat for your negligence. I did mention I was going go write a bad review. No one enjoyed food. This is not a Turkish returant. This is kind of Iraqi food.

I'm surprised the other reviews are so good. The lamb shank was tender but had no flavor. Idk what happened there. The beef kebab was so bad after 3 bites I quit. And I REALLY don't waste food. The first bite had grisle in it so hard I had to spit out the bite into my napkin due to either a bone or hard grisle. I cut off 2 more bites and saw weird looking tendons and stuff??? Ground beef is supposed to be just meat and fat! Not connective tissues and grisle every centimeter throughout the kebab! It was like they used the cheapest grade meat possible?? Idk how you mess up a kebab that bad honestly. Menus on QR code is also just so tacky and annoying and inaccessible for some people. Spend more energy on good food than fancy decor please 🥲 I can see why it was empty on a Sunday night sadly.

Our first meal at the reinvented Benevolent King proved to be an absolute delight. We had outstanding service and delicious sushi. This is a unique concept compared to other sushi restaurants but B.K. really knocks it out of the park. Attention to detail is not spared and we found each bite packed with flavor. Would recommend the Pacific Oysters and King Roll. We have plans to return soon and cannot wait to try a few more dishes.

The food at Benevolent King is excellent. They are portioned to be small plates, but I felt that they were pretty generous. We loved everything except for the poached apples - they were fine, just not to our taste.
We tried a couple of the wines by the glass and appreciated the dry and not-to-sweet selection.
Our server was also very hospitable and timed her checks on us, very well, always coming as well finished a plate and ready with what was next.

We had diner here tonight and it was delicious. They have a great selection of small plates and cocktails. We tried the lamb meatballs and tuna tartar. Both were rich and delicious. Pictured is the Salatim. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but all the dipping sauces were amazing. The cocktails were good. We stumbled upon The Benevolent King the day they opened the doors, years ago, and have found ourselves coming back over and over. For many restaurants, especially since covid, the quality tends to go down, over time. At The Benevolent King, it has only gotten better every time we’ve been. The lamb meatballs are a must. The last time we had hamachi collar there, it was the best any of us had ever had. The hamachi crudo was also extraordinarily on point. We absolutely love the escargot and the fresh bread they serve with it (which is worth breaking my no-gluten rule for!). The oysters here, are the best we’ve had in town — immaculately cleaned, beautiful, briny, plump and fresh.
It’s obvious that Chef Elliot enjoys his craft and is very good at it! The bar tender, Zachary, deserves an award for his artfully crafted cocktails — always different, interesting, balanced, and delicious.

Had a fantastic dinner at The Benevolent King. Everyone there was very nice and they did a great job pacing the courses. We started with the cracked olives as a nice briney snack as we decided on our meal.
We then enjoyed the chicken cigars, the blend of tumeric and cinnamon spices with the herbal sauce was fantastic and made it my favorite plate of the night.
Next we had the anchovy toast with it's soft focaccia, delicious blistered tomatoes, and tasty cheese.
We continued the latkes with smoked salmon. The latkes were rich and tasty and complemented the smoked salmon well.
Our entree was seared tuna with soft boiled egg. The tuna was nicely spiced and all the flavors played well with the egg yolk and the fresh vegetables.
We finished with two desserts the rosewater custard and the labneh cheesecake, both of which were hearty and delicious.

We’ve been disappointed with the last few places of gyros we’ve had. St Louis has a good gyro spot in UCity, but none in the Gravois area. Seeing the reviews for this place we were excited and the place did not disappoint. We saw 5 other families walk in after we did and the service continued to be spectacular.
The classic is what it is - good amount of slices of gyro meat with onion, tomato, lettuce, cucumber sauce on a warm pita bread. If you’re looking for cheese options then go for the supreme. My only tweak would be having the meat cut out slightly thicker and increasing the tomatoes usage.
We also got their Doner Kebab and it was fantastic. The bread was pillowy, the meat was the same as the classic with a slight charring that added to the crispiness and veggies including cucumber sauce.
All in all, this place deserves a mention because the gyros are awesome, better than the bummer ones we’ve had, service is quick and friendly despite the rush, the menu is limited thereby accomplishing solid choices time and time again!

My partner and I visited Layla last Saturday afternoon and it was amazing healthy food. I'd seen this place many times before, but never thought to stop and experience it. When I tell you that I will be going back here I will be and soon. I loved the ambiance. I'm a big fan of movies and music and there was all types of movie and music posters all around the walls. There was also signs telling you where the beers they had at the bar were made. Y'all this was an awesome place. I got pictures of some of the movie and music posters that I'm sure y'all will love.
The food was totally amazing. I love that this place had healthy items even organic and grass fed. That's my type of food. I ordered a grass fed burger and flash fried kale. I could've fell out...it was so good. My partner ordered hummus, side salad and i forget what the main plate was, but it was similar to a gyro. I tasted his food as well and that homemade hummus drove me insane. It was so good! I have pictures of it all.
This was an experience. I love places that have good service, great food and that gives me a visual experience as well. I was amazed by all of the movies and music posters that we had a great conversation about what we saw. Go check it out for yourselves.
This establishment is wheelchair accessible. They do have a parking lot on the side of the restaurant which is where we parked. If it's full when you go keep in mind there's ample metered street parking. This is a bar and I didn't see any children present. Call ahead to verify before making the trip with your kids. I also noticed outdoor patio seating was available as well. We sat on the inside though.

Great experience, amazing burgers. The only restaurant in the area that had waiting time. We waited for 45 minutes until a table was ready for us. However the food was worth it. The mango sauce wings were divine, the red pepper hummus was great and out burger and sandwich was the best i have eaten in st. Louis. The service was five star, i loved the place, it was the best in St. Louis.

This was a good hip to go place in Missouri. Wings were awesome ! The "batata" is actually a traditional indian dish which is super flavorful and yummy !! A must try ! The burgers are delicious but you must with different sauce options. Our favorite part of the meal was the vegan brownie. I am definitely going back when next time in St. Louis. Family owned traditional Persian food in Tower Grove South. We were greeted by the owner, who also made it a point to tell us thank you when we left. We greatly enjoyed our meals of kabobs and rice. Two in our group are gluten free and they were able to accommodate our needs easily. Most of the food on the menu is GF. Everyone who had the kabobs got full, as did my son who had the Tikka Masala. I sadly forget the name of my dish, it was one of the stew like, tomato based ones with beef. Delicious, but I do wish the serving size was a little bit bigger, the big guys in your group might want an extra side or appetizer to get really full. No complaints though, it's the kind of place where you get -good- food instead of a big plate of okay food. Flavors and textures were amazing all around.
I had the Turkish coffee black and heavily enjoyed it, even though I usually like to add at least milk and sugar to my coffee. One of the best black coffees I've ever had, served in a real mug to match the rest of the room's aura of hospitality (real tablecloths on the table!).
We all had the na'an bread, definitely made fresh, it was warm with a lovely chewy texture with wholesome flavor unlike dry supermarket flatbreads. Paired great with every entree on our table.
Only complaint is it took a while to get our drinks after being seated but when I asked again they brought them right away so all good.

My wife and I stopped in for dinner before shooting a round of mini golf down the street. I ordered the falafel wrap and fries. The wrap was delicious, and the seasoning on the fries was killer. Our first experience with Mediterranean food and we were delighted. The Beef Kebob Bowl and Fattoush with Beef Kebob were very flavorful and the meat was tender and cooked perfectly. The fries were seasoned well but could have been cooked a bit longer as the bigger ones were still soggy in the middle. Maybe I should have gotten a kebob. They looked really good on the grill.

A stop at American Falafel did not disappoint. While our food was being prepared we enjoyed complimentary hot mint tea, which was a pleasant way to start the meal. it was awful. the food made my wife vomit. chicken was frozen in the middle and ruined our holiday. the rice was undercooked and it was flat out garbage. i tried to complain after to get a refund for ruining new years eve, and even after multiple atemts to get ahold of anyone, they dont seem to care. please avoid this and go to somewhere decent if you dont want to vomit
