I like this place. I like it a lot. I didn’t actually eat in but I got the garlic butter cream they sell there and I’ve been using it in my cooking and wow it is so good. Was excited to try a Lebanese take on middle eastern cuisine. However the service was disinterested at best, and rude at worst. We had falafel, chicken shawarma, babaganoush and kibi balls. Reasonably pricey for a kebab joint. Wouldn't have minded except that the food was soggy, bland and flavourless (see photos for some appetising shots). A sorry mess anyone could have thrown together. The owners don't appear to care about quality food or their customers. I wouldn't go back.

My partner and I are both Wellingtonians, over 70yrs old, and have just experienced our worst fish, chip and battered sausage experience in our lives. Neither of us are fussy eaters but The Chippery in Marjoirebanks st Welie have excelled themselves in disgusting. There was a very small morsel of fish inside the haha,"tempura" batter. The chips were huge and undercooked. The battered sausage was actually like eating cattle salt block. The whole experience went down the waste master. So so 💯% disappointed and not cheap. Oh well, we gave it a go!

Amazing first time experience. The place is absolutely gorgeous giving a unique Turkish presence and vibe. Place is clean and tidy. Lots of rooms for customers to dine in. You can see everything that’s happening in the kitchen. Staffs are welcoming. They have two electronic self ordering kiosks that are easy to navigate which has pictures for every menu. Food was amazing. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. The shish lamb was a stunner. So tender and juicy. 😋 Food presentation was top notch as well. I was very impressed by that given this type of cuisine. The price is far too reasonable based on my overall experience. Would love to come again although I’m not living in Wellington.

Always enjoy Kilim and took my son there for a bite tonight. Both had the mixed grill which (as always!) absolutely rocked.
Ordering has changed since I was last there with self service kiosks which were easy to use, and food arrived 10 to 15 mins later. Waiter was very polite and pleasant.
Overall a great experience, the only downside is the toilet was rather dirty. Was wee on the seat and floors and could have used a really good clean. Was early on as well, just after 530pm

The service was amazing - no complaints there. I like how the servers warned people of the step, were very attentive, and fast. No wait for food or drinks and I actually liked the little corner table hidden away.
The food was good, ribs were buttery and flavoursime. Thai fish cakes tasted as they should, which I absolutely loved. My partner said he can make them at home though, so I'd like to see him try. Loved the fresh spring rolls, although I would suggest not putting the hoisin sauce on top of them and changing the sauce to a vinegar one with palm sugar. Over all food was 4/5 and service 5/5.
We did book first table so got a 50% discount on food but if we were to pay full price, I would say it was a bit overpriced, especially for the size of the plates. In saying that, my stomach is small so 3 plates with jasmine rice was enough. We bought 3 dishes, a rice, and 3 drinks which came to just over $100 with the discount.

The seafood linguine was generous with mussels and prawns, cooked perfectly in a rich tomato base that felt both hearty and balanced. Our first time dining here, it was all very mediocre.
Pizza oven was out of order so our selections were made easier.
It wasn't busy (6 tables dining) but everything was so slow. The first main meal arrived after 45 minutes, the second 10 minutes later. Steak was ok (one side noticeably cooked more than the other), fish was a disappointment (watery sauce, lack of vegetables).
An off putting cloying smell of deep frying wafted through every 10 minutes or so. Really odd.
Enjoyed the Chianti though.
Left feeling a little underwhelmed, won't be rushing back soon.

What an awesome place!! This is possibly the best customer service I have ever experienced and some of the quickest food as well. Both servers were incredibly lovely and accommodating.
My partner had the waffles, which he really enjoyed, and I had the breakfast burrito. Both so so good. Price was around $40 for 2 meals and a drink (incredibly good for the CBD)
The atmosphere and vibe of this place was incredible, especially in the Sunday morning sun. Right in the CBD and next to bus stops, great location.

Had a taco that was dry, had 3 little dried up 2cm pieces of chick, maybe half a teaspoon of smeared avocado and about the same of some red sauce of no identifiable flavour. Our cold and wet Wellington trip was immediately uplifted by this warm and friendly cafe. The Mocha was amazing, not too sweet and just the perfect creamy consistency. Many use Supreme beans, but few do it this good! We ordered the chilli scrambled eggs, with just the perfect spice followed by a sweet finish of relish. I don't often leave average feedback but our experience this time at Flying Burrito Brothers was, very average. Came with family and a table of 5. We were shown our table quickly and the restaurant wasn't busy as it was a Sunday night. So off to a good start but unfortunately didn't continue that way. We ordered drinks and then starters, but got our starters before the drinks and after a longer than expected wait. My Corona beer came with no lime so I asked the waiter for some, he said he would go get some but never did. Starters were good, not large, but tasty.
We finished and waited for our server but took a while for him to come and he seemed a little disinterested. Ordered mains which again took a while but were again a bit smaller than expected but still tasty other than the chicken salad which was larger than expected. I was disappointed with the salad as it was past it's best and not fresh, I picked around the bad bits though.
At this stage I was feeling like we were being ignored and had to wave out to get the servers attention so we could get a second drink. Later I had to go and get menus myself to look at the deserts as the server proved hard to get service from he looked more interested in packing up for the night at 8:15pm.
We decided not to get desert as it was becoming too much of a hassle.
I then went into the toilet but there was no toilet paper, which I mentioned to the cashier when paying he was great and thanked me for letting him know.
So overall meals were tasty but not large for the price, salads not fresh. Service left a lot to be desired. Hopefully this will be taken as constructive criticism and will help to up their game as it has been better in the past. Cheers

The bun was old and brittle and the mince tasted like it was on the verge of expiration. Dropped in for a mid afternoon coffee and snack over the weekend. There were still a few tables occupied and they were fairly busy. What I loved about it is that they are dog friendly indoors too which made it so convenient to bring in our pooch. We only ordered coffees and a couple of snack dishes but will definitely be back for a complete meal and try out their vege dishes. The free doggo biscuits by the counter was a bonus too!

Dropped in on the weekend to try the Burger Wellington option. It was absolutely worth the trip. It was just amazing. Unexpected and delightful flavours from a truly out there offer.
Service was friendly, timely and faultless. Great little spot near the beach which was perfect for walking the dogs too.

Our family group had a lovely lunch here at the weekend. The food and service were all magnificent. What I especially liked was that when they noticed that 2 of us were 'more elderly' they quickly moved us to a different table which had more suitable seating for that age group. On top of this, the food choices were all wonderful. Something for everyone.

When I arrived at the restaurant early in the evening, several groups were already dining, and I was warmly greeted by the busy kitchen staff at the entrance.
I considered ordering the Tom Yum noodle soup but was advised that it was quite spicy, so I opted for the Chicken Laksa and Mee Goreng instead. Although it was past typical mealtime hours, the restaurant remained bustling with a steady flow of customers. Thanks to the fast and efficient service, we didn’t have to wait long, and everything ran smoothly.

The crispy fried wontons with a tangy sweet and sour dipping sauce are also really good too!

I decided to go for an enjoyable meal at rouge and vagabond on a sunny Wednesday afternoon to take advantage of the Wednesday wings deal. Went there for a Jazz concert. The performance was great. The fact that one of the staff at the bar felt that it was the right thing to do to chat up a female patron while there were ever growing queues was a big no-no in my not so humble opinion.

This time we had the Rogue Chicken Burger ($17) and the OG Beef Burger ($17) along with a portion of the curly fries ($4). For the beer, we shared a Bitterbitch IPA ($13) as there was no double IPA available. The total bill came up to $51.
The beef from the OG Beef Burger had the flavourful and aromatic “beefy” taste that we love. The patty itself was also tender, indicative of a good control of the heat. A simple but good burger.
As for the Rogue Chicken Burger, there was a nice salad within that helped balanced the burger. What stood out for us were the onions which was so sweet and crunchy! Lastly, we were thankful that we ordered only a portion of the curly fries because the portion was HUGE. There was a nice cajun seasoning and it came with an aioli dip as well. By doing the $4 add-on, this option is much cheaper than the $14 sides if you had ordered it by itself.

The food was delicious! I got vegan tacos dorados, and the server was so nice and cheerful. She even checked that the honey in ny dressing was local, which is a very specific request, I know. And she was so kind about it. The salsa spiciness level was just right, not extremely spicy. The chef is Mexican, which is a total win! You can be sure you'll be getting 100% authentic Mexican cousin. The drink menu is very extended, and I'm looking forward to going back and trying more plates/drinks!
The atmosphere is absolutely stunning and full of photos of Mexican figures, especially Frida Kahlo. I even got to know the story behind the doll decorations on the ceiling by chatting with the waitress! Being from latinoamerica, the atmosphere and layout of this place was like stepping back home for a moment. This restaurant is a true ode to Mexico. Found this place near our air bnb. I was so surprised to see its very authentic! They even had agua de horchata which you don’t see much around in restaurants this far from Mexico. The amount of food that comes in a plate is very fair for the price and the flavours are a hit! And the service was more than excellent. Every single person there is welcoming, nice and friendly. Wow! That was SO nice! The food was very yummy, as well as being well prepared and presented. And the staff were friendly and very helpful, as well as courteous.

Looks lively & exciting, is an irritatingly disappointing place.
3 of us, made to sit at a table for 2 (beside the counter, with barely any space so every time a group or even the staff goes by, you get to physically feel like an obstacle) despite having available tables that'd properly seat us. No, those weren't reserved and nor did anyone else come in to be seated there. Shows how much you're valued as a customer, just made to sit wherever profitable for them by a man that seemed to be the manager.
The place is crazy busy, fine, we get it - a Saturday night, lots of noise from many people. . . no fault of the staff. But their ignorance in noticing you when you're literally calling them in a clear view at close distance... very much frustrating. Then, unclean dishes, taken away but not replaced, unclear item on menu... fine, ask for clarification... got misinformation, led to wrong order, led to them claiming they just were unclear; didn't misinform - like that makes it all cool. One of the ladies (seemed like a supervisor?) was actually helpful & polite as you'd expect... and, I do appreciate her.
The Chilli & Garlic Stir Fry was so greasy... it was literally the over sweet 'Sweet Chilli' sauce outta the bottle into the wok with chicken & the rest. So close to being uneatable, most of it didn't leave the plate; we just ate the chicken. Also, the Singapore Fried Noodles reeked of the reused oil but tasted just Not-Too-Bad enough for us to consume it.
Perhaps the dumplings should've been our go-to, but we won't be returning. If you do go here, make use of the BYO option, I'd say... or better yet, try the Night Market or the other restaurants.

Easily one of the worst ‘Italian’ restaurants in Wellington, I would avoid at all costs! Arrived at 5 pm on a Sunday and expected a relatively short wait for food given that the restaurant was quiet, however this was not the case. It took over 20 minutes for our truffle loaded fries to arrive and another 20 minutes for our mains to arrive. What was most disappointing was the food, which was warm and lacked flavour in all 3 dishes ordered. The fries were unseasoned and the name deceiving as we expected grated truffle however received bland cold mushroom sauce instead. We ordered the Alfredo and Manhattan pizza, both of which were terrible and inauthentic. My pizza was cold and had to be sent back however after the wait we both lost our appetite. Staff tried there best however hospitality was mediocre and did not compensate. If you want edible authentic Italian food, Nolita’s is not the place and I definitely will not be returning.

Our recent visit was an absolute delight, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. We were a party of five, and the quality of both food and service exceeded expectations.

Birria Tacos (2 orders): The beef was exceptionally tender and juicy, cooked to perfection and full of flavor.
Roasted Pepper Quesadilla: A standout dish with a perfectly crisp exterior, balanced by rich, melted cheese and tender roasted vegetables and fruits.
Roasted Cauliflower: Simple yet delicious, this dish was well-seasoned and delicious.
Chicken Quesadilla (Takeaway): Our youngest, who was unfortunately unable to join us due to a migraine, thoroughly enjoyed this dish at home. He said it was “really nice”.

Delicious. Even the mister who is picky af loved it.
We got the queso fondito to start and oh my - the flavour explosion was legit. I honestly would have taken a bag of the house made tortilla chips home with me, sides not required. Mister anhilated the guac "oh my god this is the real thing".
For our mains I got the quesadilla and mister got the burrito bowl and the serving sizes had us rolling out the door.
Service was incredible and timely - all the advice for newbie (and sorting ya girl out who can't handle spice).
You should legit visit and with summer fast approaching get in there for the frozen margs, great food and incredible service

Our monthly meet up dining group came to Los banditos on Blair Street for dinner last night. We got a nice big tile covered table near the entrance with beautiful lighting, with a big drink list to choose from. I tried the guava juice with chili and soda which was quite spicy but a bit different, and we shared a jug of Virgin red sangria which was our favourite drink of the night. The service was nice and the wait staff was patient, our other tablemates seemed happy with their tacos, some of us decided to share a few sharing plates. I was very keen on the ceviche, however, what came out was a poke and not ceviche, which was kind of disappointing, it was on the sour side and not fragrant from the citrus. We were recommended by another friend that we needed to try the burning cheese dish, however, to start, they put the dish in the other corner of the table and we could not reach it (we tried to tell them it was us who ordered it but maybe she didn't hear us) hence my photo seemed very far away. By the time it reached us, the fire had already gone out. The alcohol in the cheese sauce did not really evaporate either, so the whole sauce tasted more like alcohol than cheese sauce. It was also too thick to be dipped. The fried chicken tasted like Doritos sprinkle covered, and the guacamole was the best part of this platter. We also got the revolver which has all 6 flavored tacos, unfortunately all the meats were either dry or overcooked, so we were quite disappointed with this. Good vibes though!

WOWW!! I first heard about Cafe Laz when I saw one of their stickers in the south island, and after nearly 5 months, I finally had the chance to try some of their delicious food. In my opinion, the mark of any good kebab establishment is really the chicken, and WOW...the fine people at Cafe Laz simply know what they're doing...
I ordered takeout and got the chicken kebab with the hot chili, mint, and yoghurt sauces. Total came out to less than 20 NZD without delivery fees, which alone is an amazing deal. Any other food place at this price point, such as Dominos Pizza, is neither as fresh or authentic as this. My husband later ordered the vegetarian iskender and said the halloumi was "next level."
While my stay in Wellington was brief and I was only able to eat here once, Cafe Laz Turkish Kebab House has become a core memory to my experience here in New Zealand, a mainstay that I believe to be reflective of its integral nature here in Newtown, the greater cultural fabric of Wellington, and those such as myself and my husband, travelers seeking simple sustenance with low expectations (brought about by last night's utterly disappointing Dominos experience) and instead participating in the most purely innocent and evermore enlightening sensations of smell, sight, and taste, a playful harmony that some, like my husband, described to me as a divine encounter.

Tried this Turkish spot and absolutely loved the mujver wrap – hands down the highlight! Gave the shawarma a go after reading great reviews, but it was a bit on the dry side also the chicken was quite chunky not as I have tried it in Arab and only a small part had pomegranate molasses, which was actually what brought a nice pop of flavour. Sadly, the rice pudding was sold out (guess that means I have to come back for it 😅 ). The staff were super nice and welcoming even though the place was quite busy.

I was half way of my meal when I realized that I have never rated this restaurant. I always order to go. And I have to say its the best Thai in town! Big portions lots of flavours. I’ve eaten at quite a few Thai places around the city, but Nakhon Thai really stands out. The food is incredibly authentic and full of flavor! You can really tell they use fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. Every dish we ordered was delicious, especially the Pad Thai and and Egg Rice. The portions are generous too! It’s also super convenient being so close to the airport; perfect for a pre- or post-flight meal. Highly recommend this spot to anyone craving real Thai food!

Ordered two main courses. One was a Panaeg Curry on Rice at $27.50 and the other was Pad See Eu stir fry noodles at $25.50.
Although both courses were nice and tasty, the portions were disappointing very much smaller compared to other Thai restaurants we have recently dined in.

First time at LOTF and it wasn't a very good one. The loaded fries and buffalo chicken wasn't anything special and they were playing music that wasn't safe for work in the kitchen. The best part is it’s all vegan, as someone who can’t have dairy, nuts etc. this place is a welly vegan paradise. I am not someone who usually leaves reviews but the Donuts I had a few days ago from the airport location were life changing! I cannot eat dairy so as you can imagine good dairy free/plant-based donut options are limited. When I first saw the shop at the airport I admired them then kept walking not even realising they were plant-based, cause their ain’t no way something that looked that good could be dairy free/plant based. It wasn’t until my fiancé stopped me and got me to walk back to read the sign that I realised how wrong I was. I would have been impressed if there was just one plant-based option but to learn that everything you do is plant based was mind blowing! After making the hard decision of what to get we narrowed it down to four donuts. There are no words that could do those 4 donuts justice, they were so incredibly delicious I honestly nearly cried! Those donuts must have been made by literal angels for them to taste that good. Thank you so incredibly much to your team for making dreams come true.

I first tried them when they first opened and were doing online only with deliveries and they dropped food to my home with my daughter. We still love their food the same ever since thanks team keep up the great work. I used to LOVE ham and cheese growing up before turning vegan so my favorite is definitely the ham and cheese croissant! 10/10 everything I think I've tried everything now but the tiramisu I had a while ago on the Lambton store was really delicious too plus any and all of the donuts and pastry's :)

We're Aussies visiting Wellington for the first time, and if we lived here, we'd come back over and over to try every single donut! This is an absolute must visit for anyone who loves pastries and desserts.
The donuts we tried were the cheesecake and the lemon meringue, which were both incredible. We also got a sausage sizzle croissant which had an amazing flavour and lovely crispy crust. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Lively environment. Lots of places to sit. One of the better options out this neck of the woods. The burger was excellent; just how I like it to be done. Reminds me a bit of Shake Shack in the States. Bun was soft and chewy with a bit of crispness. Patties were delicious without an overly seasoned taste. The fries weren’t anything to write home about. If you want a lot of fries, don’t get a $5 add-on with your burger. Order an entirely separate bowl of them. Much more filling.
The fried chicken was nicely done but the batter didn’t have much flavour. Quality fare though, just rely on the sauce to do the heavy lifting.

I found this cool little kebab house 4 months ago. I’ve tried them all in the area, literally all of them. Tarbush is head & shoulders above the rest. It’s the flavour, the spices, the variety of ingredients and the generous fillings.

A little gem with absolutely delicious food and very friendly staff. Falafal was my absolute favourite. It was so beautiful. I ended up getting a dozen falafal to take home and just couldn't stop eating them. Rest of the meat on the platter, all of them were so moist and tender. Highly recommend it!
Went back for more after a while and the food and hospitality was just the same. Every visit makes us what to go back for more. I was stuffed after a mixed meat on salad and still ended up eating 3 more falafals. I can eat those falafal all day long. Still highly recommend it.

An excellent little speciality store up the top of the famous Cuba St, Wellington. They have a fantastic selection of vegan foods and even treats! Virtually everything you could think of- vegan cheeses, frozen meals, tinned goods, herbs and spices, cakes, dry goods. It's worth going for a look, even if you aren't vegan. The staff are super friendly, and always happy to answer any questions about their goods for sale.

We had a hard time finding specific low-waste/ethical products in stores living in Nelson, so were very happy to find them in V1 while visiting Wellington! There is a surprising number of high quality products for such a small space. To be honest, when we walked up to the store we thought it would be too small to have what we were looking for but we were completely wrong. The gentleman who helped us was very friendly too!
