It looked really good. I did see a flaw in the back, but hard to see clearly, with plexiglass and counter between us. -I did a video of the unboxing of the cake when I got home. When I removed the lid, there was a piece that had fallen off in the back & the #8 in the front was leaning forward. I removed the cake entirely from the box to better assess. I called the bakery & the girl who answered the phone was very apologetic for the mishap & provided me with instructions on how to fix it. -The cake in the front looked awesome! Our favorite piece was the graffiti name & boom box. However, upon inspection of the cake, there were areas that were not so good. (See photos). -I sent an email & thanked them for capturing my vision/idea into real time. My husband & I understand how much work is involved w/ a very detailed cake & let them know that it was appreciated. However, we also expressed our concerns with some of the fondant work, the #8 was a heavy piece (held with a toothpick), & was partly hanging over the edge, causing it to fall off several times & that the cake was not edible, it was way too sweet. -Deb responded right away & thanked me for our concerns. Her response: "After much thought and review of your order I do see that your request was done as your form had specified, and I believe that the decorators that had worked on your cake did a great job achieving the look you had requested. We are all very detailed cake artists here and understand the importance of quality and presentation. Please understand that we get to points where perfecting something so much starts to outweigh the costs of the price. There were things that the decorators spent way more time on than expected and your cake clocked in about 8 hours just for decorating." **The decorators did a good job in some aspects, but clearly, QA was lacking. If design was not 100% achievable, then they should've declined my inquiry.** -Explanation of the fondant: "Fondant is a type of pliable icing used for sculpting, and sometimes it can be difficult to get all sides as smooth as possible leaving a seam somewhere. Seeing as the front, top and sides of the boom box and the brick sides were seen on the front, it can be expected the back of something like this is not completely smooth.
