Having booked a table, stating it was for Sunday roast, we arrived, greeted by a stoney faced waitress, to be told there were no roasts. Not just that but having been told this we were left at the door with no further information. It’s a shame when previously roasts were available till late in the afternoon. An apology was offered, and told food was available but only fish and chips, pizza or a sandwich, not something we had in mind when making a booking at pre 11am. Why a review, when booking double check they have food, and on a Sunday when they anticipate roasts will run out. If we had been told they had limited numbers we could easily have made it earlier. Shame, as normally both the food and service are great. Maybe a bad day for them but defo made it one for us. No roasts available anywhere else but had a great time at The Blacksmiths Arms, Lamerton, where there was plenty of excellent food and lovely welcoming staff.

(원문) Stunning food in the heart of Devon. We stopped on recommendation from the Granite way cycle hire staff, and it's so worth it! We had a stunning family meal, well presented and full of flavour. I enjoyed the wild mushroom risotto which is very rich and comes with deliciously seered mushrooms. We also ordered pizzas and kids food, which were all home made and incredibly well produced. The location is great has is the Landlord George and his bar staff all super helpful and Welcoming. We arrived on a beautiful Sunny day and sat ourselves in the Beer garden only to be entertained by Bands from BANDAMONIUM we witnessed some great Music and Hilarious versions of favorite tunes and this was all from Brass bands which me and my wife have rarely seen the likes of, some band members were dressed up in the theme of the Music e.g Jungle / Super heroes etc The inside of the Pub is very Traditional and has a Piano opposite the Bar, there is a choice of local Ales aswell as the regular more familiar Lagers, You can dine around the bar area or go into the dining area which is quite large, the Menu is very varied and priced reasonably and the food is great and good portion sizes they also cater for Gluten intolerance well done we say. It was in fact the recommendation of a member of staff in the travel lodge that led my father and I here for food, so was a lucky find. Firstly, what an incredible building. Between the thatched roof, thick stone walls and low ceilings the place is full with character. Secondly the staff were so unbelievably conscientious. We are sticklers for manners in our family and we were attended to beyond our expectations. The team are a credit to you, clearly influenced by the head chef who was also prioritising out service when passing our table. Incredible and so rare. The food then was outstanding, we had the sourdough, fish and chips and sausage and mash, the names were far more appealing than that and I have not done them justice but that is essentially what we had, just in a very high end version. The breakfast hamper was very nice and came with lots of options, however an additional £25 for a continental breakfast on top of the room rate (hot sandwiches were an additional fee again) was rather steep. Overall, I would recommend the pub for drinks and food, but not so much for an overnight stay. It was quite overpriced for what it was. It certainly isn't 4 star accommodation.

We stayed as a treat to spend the weekend exploring Dartmoor. The Room: We had booked a superior twin room, expecting a certain standard of quality and comfort. Unfortunately, we were concerned to find that the plug socket next to one of the beds was exposed, with visible plaster damage and a hole in the wall. We raised this with a member of staff on the day, who informed us that there were no other rooms available to swap into. They offered us an extension cable but were quite dismissive overall and didn’t acknowledge the condition of the plug as an issue. We also had the focaccia to start which was not cooked.. My friend had a very basic breakfast, tough bacon, chefs larder style hash brown and a crispy meat item pretending to be a black pudding. I have attached the egg which was undercooked, I had beans on toast , which I thought would be the safest option, but I added an egg which was snotty and undercooked. Unfortunately I didn't take photos of the dinner, but my friends broccoli with the pie was grey and sad. If you have a modicum of interest in well cooked food, this is not the place for you. I think the food itself overpriced but can get over, the service prior to complaining about the room was really good. How they have dealt with things since has been really rubbish. You wouldn't event get this in a Travelodge or premier inn. Don't trust the 5* reviews- go elsewhere for food and your stay!
